What shoes once they start to walk?

He has been wearing the soft soled shoes and he's not completely walking yet, but he will hold our hand and walk if we are in the store or something and I think I need to get him more supportive shoes.  I usually buy the Robeez but do I get the Tredz or Mini Shoes or does it matter?

  • Can't I just stick with my Pedipeds for a while?  It will pain me to make the switch.  I guess Flex ones aren't so bad.

  • DD is in daycare and goes outside 2x each day.  So we bought a pair of stride-rite shoes for her to wear to daycare each day.

  • We switch between PediPeds and Stride Rites depending on which looks better with her outfit.

I think you're always safe to stick with soft soled shoes.  When DD started walking a lot more and would walk outside I wanted her to have a little bit more protection.  Just make sure that the soles are still very flexible.

  • We stayed with the pedipeds until DD had been walking for about 3 months.  From what I've been told, then don't need a thicker sole until they are a better walker.  While they're learning, a soft sole is the best way to practice.  And at home, barefoot is best.

  • At 13 months, we switched from a pair of Robeez soft soled Mini shoez to a pair of Robeez Tredz.  I don't think it matters when you switch.  I think the Tredz are better for walking outside with the harder sole, especially if the ground is wet.
