Light brown spotting

Hey y’all! I will be 6 weeks tomorrow. This morning I noticed some light brown spotting when I wiped. Is this normal? Has anyone else experienced this? This is my first pregnancy and I feel like every little symptom is worrying me. I’d appreciate yalls advice/input. Please don’t post negativity :)

Re: Light brown spotting

  • Something about someone telling me not to post negativity makes me want to be extra salty..

That being said, I haven't experienced this but I would say you should call your doctor.

  • Seriously, though. That rubbed me the wrong way, too.

I think pretty much everyone thats going to respond is going to say the same thing. It’s best to call your doctor. Light bleeding can be normal, but only your doctor can tell you if everything is fine.
  • Yeah, that’s going to rub pretty much everyone the wrong way.

Also, there’s a symptoms thread for stuff like this.

  • Oh hello, nice to meet ya.

Echoing what they said: call your doctor. Internet strangers are not your doctor.

I had light brown spotting in my first pregnancy, it eventually turned red and I had a CP. I am having light brown spotting now too, occasionally with red spotting (and at one point red bleeding), my betas still doubled at the time, and as far as I know I’m still pregnant. It can be totally normal and also not. Please ask your doctor if you want answers, or ask in the symptoms thread if you want other people’s stories which won’t give you any answers about what’s going on with your body.

  • Well that’s a new way to start a post with some sass...
We are not your OB and can’t tell you what’s going on.  Please contact your doctors with medical concerns.
Also we have a whole symptoms thread that you can post in and read through.
  • On first impression, telling a community of people how they're allowed to conduct themselves is rude. Just like it'd be rude to walk into a rooom of people in real life and tell them how to act.

Also, use "search" function here and I'm sure brown spotting has come up before. Good luck.
  • Hi to you too.

So negativity is part of life. Could the spotting be normal? Sure. Could it be the start of something, *gasp*, negative? Sure.

Call your OB - each one has different protocol when it comes to spotting but don’t be alarmed if they give you a “negative” reply of “wait and see if it gets worse”.

  • Do you want positivity or reality?
My reality is that I’ve spotted all 4 pregnancies and lost my first one. So yeah, call your doctor if you’re concerned.

  • Hello :) welcome to this space. I’m so glad you’re here! Reading through the other posts on our symptoms thread. I can tell you that some women have experienced spotting. From everything I’ve read I gather that as long as it’s not bright red with clots and soaking through a pad an hour that’s totally normal. But for peace of mind you may want to call your doctor. The first trimester is a scary time. We all love these tiny babies so much and the thought of anything bad happening is scary. You’re not alone and I hope you stick around to learn from and talk with other women in the same position :)
