Well years ago the IF board had a fertility med donation but that stopped years ago. If this pregnancy works I want to give to someone else in need. I didn’t have coverage with my boys and was broke before having them. IF there is still no donation I’ll ask my nurse if there are oop people to give to. I would of given to a friend too. That’s awesome.

@mcgeeva After my transfer in November, I donated a bunch of stim meds to my clinic to distribute (because I didn’t know anyone who could use them). These last rounds this year I had almost exactly what I needed, so didn’t have any stim meds left. I’ll just have part of a box of Endometrin left (just three more nights of it - woo hoo!). I actually had almost exactly as much of that as I needed from last year too and only had to order one box this year. My meds were also covered by insurance and with four retrieval cycles last year I’d hit my OOP max long before.

Yeah I still have three boxes left of stim drugs and we all know that crap isn’t cheap. Need to prob hand off if my 12 week nt scan is okay since it’s been taken room up in the fridge.

@mcgeeva My clinic has a list that circulates with extra meds. I put mine on there and someone else who needed them took them! I thought it was great to be able to give to another person struggling, especially since IF treatments are so freakin expensive!

I 100% agree. My clinic years ago was amazing even if it was a vile they would give me a follistim pen etc bc we had no coverage and it was so darn expensive. Not to mention no one tells you that you can't use flex money if it's not a coverage insurance procedure so I lost money I put away that year and fought and did not win that battle with insurance. So any help is good help

Hi, I hope you girls don't mind if I join. My history is as follows (TW - M/C and preg ment): 2 failed IUIs, 3 IVF cycles that ended in two M/C around 8 weeks (later tested and found that embryos were abnormal), DE fresh cycle with PGS, currently 12 weeks pregnant with 1 little boy (end TW). It's been hard to believe that this pregnancy might actually work out since I'm so used to disappointment in the fertility department. I had a good 12 week NT u/s recently though and it's starting to sink in that this might be for real this time!

@c-town18 Congratulations and welcome!!! So excited for you and your little boy! I know it can be hard to actually believe it's gonna work this time. I still struggle with it myself. But I find that as time goes on, the doibts get fewer and far between. Looking forward to being on this journey with you!

@c-town18 - Welcome and congrats! I am also a donor egg momma! I am so excited you're here! I am 11w2d with a baby boy as well! We got our NIPT results yesterday and everything looked great and we found out sex. I am actually super excited for the first time. This may actually work. Again.. I am so excited you are here!

Thanks all! Wow, I just read back through everyone's posts to get caught up, and I cannot believe how much insanity we've all been through just to get here. FWIW I think we're all pretty awesome for having gotten through so much!

Did anyone on here do PGS before transferring embryo(s)? I went in for a 12 week appointment recently and met with a genetic counselor. Our NT ultrasound looked good, we had already done the PGS testing of the embryo, and our donor was only 27, so we declined any further blood testing (like MaterniT21 etc.) as it would have cost us about $250 after we already spent thousands for the PGS. It seemed like overkill. Of course now I'm second guessing because I second guess everything. Trying to see if anyone else is in the same boat and what you decided. (?)

@c-town18 Welcome and congrats! We tested our embryos before and this little fella tested perfectly so we decided not to do any other bloodwork. It definitely felt unnecessary as we had already done it!

. We also just had our 12 week genetic counseling and NT scan (thankfully fine) yesterday. Also had the NIPT blood draw yesterday because, well PGS isn’t perfect (and the sample was tiny - literally). But I was 39 when this egg was retrieved, so much higher risk than your 27 year-old donor. Just gave a copy of the PGS results to the genetic counselor because they like to corroborate the gender with the NIPT result (the first copy I brought her had the gender info cut out b/c DH doesn’t want to know yet - I already do - so I just emailed her the complete report after our appointment).

But honestly, I don’t have a lot of confidence in NIPT (even though I know it doesn’t test for as much) - just traumatized because we *TW* lost our first little girl (naturally conceived so no PGS) two days after getting her “normal” girl result.

Ugh, that loss must have been just terrible for you guys. Did they know what caused it, like was there a chromosomal abnormality that the NIPT missed?

@c-town18 Yay due date buddy! Nope, it was our first loss, happened at home (well, actually en route to my childhood home for a wedding) so no testing or anything.

@c-town18 we did Pgs as well but my fertility doc still told me to nt scan and all since nothing is 100%. I was actually shocked by that because I thought it tested the embryo for most disorders so still getting it done. Congrats on your little man!

@c-town18 I should also tell you that we had our first trimester screen on May 31st and all the neck measurements and all looked great!

We also did PGS. It should pick up aneuploidies like Down Syndrome but there is about a 1% chance of mosaicism which would be when some proportion of the cells is euploid and some aneuploid.

We have the NT scan on Wednesday. I'm not too worried about it.

Yeah, I told myself that we would do the NT scan (mostly I just wanted to have the ultrasound so I could make sure the baby still was measuring OK at 12 weeks for my own reassurance since I have a history of M/C) and if all looked normal, we would skip the additional blood testing. NT scan looked great they said, so I declined the blood test.

So based on my OB's website it looks like my next U/S may not be until 20 weeks for the anatomy scan (?!) That seems like so long after getting them every week at the RE's office. I guess this means I'm just a regular pregnant person now!

@c-town18, that is my plan too. If everything looks fine on the NT, I see no reason to do additional testing. My Dr insists on labeling me high risk even though my RE was very clear when they released me that having gone through IVF does not make me high risk. We needed IVF because of male factor issues. I am 40 so I guess I'm AMA but I have absolutely no health issues so I don't see what the fuss is about. My SIL just had her second (and last) baby at 50. Oh well, my impression is that being labelled high risk will get me more ultrasounds and I like seeing the baby.

Glad to hear lots of NT scans seem to have gone well. We ended up declining our NT scan. I went into this experience knowing that I wanted minimal ultrasounds. Then, with the SCH, we had to have two early ultrasounds at the RE. So we opted to skip the NT and wait for the anatomy scan for the next and hopefully last.

We get to hear babies heart beat for short periods of time at every appointment with the midwives, so that's been nice. Our next appointment now isn't until 19+2 for the anatomy scan. I'm 15+0 tomorrow and I have to say, it feels like this is going to be a long wait. Mostly because we hope to find out the gender then. I can't wait.

Anyways, thought I would check back in here. Definitely feel most comfortable chatting with other PAIF ladies.

@timesacharm - I am so glad you get to hear the heartbeat at your appointments. 4 weeks is a brutally long wait!

I am also happy to report a great NT scan yesterday. I am starting to feel more and more excited that we will actually be getting our take home baby after all this time!

I’m a little late to join...
i recognize most of you from the IF board.

Here’s my history:
I’m 42.5 and single. I had 2 IUIs when I was 38 while living in the east coast. Then, moved to California and started trying again at 40.5.
After another 3 failed IUIs, I moved on to IVF.

Had my first IVF in Nov 2016 just after turning 41. I had an amazing response and got 4 PGS normal embryos. From January 2017 to January 2018 I transferred ALL my PGS normal embryos, one by one.

First one was a MMC at 6w 1d (though there was still HB at 7w 4d) after waiting for natural MC that didn’t happen, I had MUA at 9w 4d.

Second one one was a CP. And third and fourth ones were BFN.

so then, at the age of 42+ I was left with nothing!!!

I started another IVF cycle in March 2018. And this time didn’t respond well at all. My RE even suggested cancelling it. Luckily I decided to finish that cycle no matter what.

The original plan was to do PGS like first IVF. But since the response was so bad, I transferred ALL 6 embryos on day 3.

The betas didn’t double which was a tough week. But turned out I had two sacs but only one developed.

The second sac already disappeared. So now I have only 1 sac. Because I had 2 sacs I couldn’t do NIPT. So I still don’t know the gender!

About 6 weeks ago, at 10w 6d, I was diagnosed with GD. So that have been a struggle since. About 1.5 weeks ago they put me on bedtime insulin. It was funny because the nurse that called asked me if I can come over so they will show me how to inject... of course I told her I’ve don’t IVF so I can do the insulin shots (if I did PIO on my own, then insulin is really a piece of cake) haha

Anyway, sorry for the long intro.

Editing because I forgot to mention that I’m 16w 5d today.

@timesacharm How exciting for the anatomy scan! That's when we'll find out the gender as well. I hope the next 4 weeks go by quickly for you! I find that passing idle time on The Bump helps a little...

@prudence9-2 I forgot how much further ahead of me you are. That's so exciting! I'm only 12 wks 6 days. I swear it feels like so much longer because of the 3 month IVF process. So telling people last week felt like it took forever. But I'm already major pudgy and stomach sticking out. But guess by 3 it's all stretched out

@mcgeeva you were actually able to do FET very soon after IVF. When I first thought I was gonna do pgs and FET, I was expecting to do FET in June. As my FETs are very long (as I start with weeks of Lupron..)

yeah by 13 weeks I was def having tough time with clothes. I finally bought maternity jeans 2.5 weeks ago so that helped. I’m still hiding it at work. (Told one coworker yesterday. But haven’t told my boss yet or anyone else)

The benefit of being diagnosed with GD after doing IVF is that injections are piece of cake for us

@mcgeeva I’m sure three months felt like forever, but it was 13 months for us between our first retrieval last year and this transfer that stuck (our first transfer was 9 months after that first retrieval). And almost two years since we got pregnant naturally TTC #1. So it’s all relative. Glad to finally be here but it’s hard not to wait for the other shoe to drop after *TW* losing two.

We’re still afraid to tell people (haven’t even told all of our immediate family). I was hoping to make it a couple more months, but I’m not so sure how reasonable that is given that just yesterday a coworker asked me “if [she was] allowed to ask.” I don’t have a bump but I definitely have a belly I don’t usually have.

@prudence9-2 I'll be 16 weeks tomorrow! I was diagnosed on the 15th. Haha yeah the finger pricks are nothing compared to progesterone IM. I'm not on insulin so that's good!

hopefully this one will stick to full term for all of us!!! Then how long it took won’t matter anymore.

@mamajudec2018 oh ok. So you’re only 1.5 weeks in. How are your numbers? At the first week or so of finger pricking my morning numbers were ok. But few weeks later it changed. Which is why they put me on bedtime insulin.

I was diagnosed on May 16. I was only 10w 6d. What worries me is that GD in the first trimester can cause birth defects

@prudence9-2 All of my numbers have been really low. Hoping it stays that way! The nurses really encouraged me that everything is fine and not to worry. I have an ultrasound tomorrow so I'm going to talk to the doctor more about it.

@mamajudec2018 that’s great! Do you exercise to keep your numbers low? If I don’t exercise after every meal my numbers are super high. (Sometimes even exercise doesn’t help). But if anything, this pregnancy will get me into shape!

@prudence9-2 I don't need to exercise to keep my numbers low which is nice! They've honestly just been low from some minor diet tweaks. But, I have been trying to walk everyday just to keep myself moving and if I can get my numbers even lower why not!

@mamajudec2018 wow! You’re lucky. After one day of testing sugar level I found out that unless i exercise my numbers are super high.

Dinners are the toughest for me. I just finished dinner and I’m tired and on the sofa and the last thing I want is to exercise but I have no choice.

@prudence9-2 It felt long to me. Had retrieval March 6th and FET was April 18th. Had fluid from some OHSS but thank god the progesterone cleared it up the day before FET. Oh girl I'm def starting to wear maternity clothes and have today a rubber band on my pants.

artemis618 girl my FET doesn't compare to yours. You had a long long wait that is so hard physically and emotionally but glad we are all here now. You need to enjoy this so celebrate and tell the world! I feel like if we make it to NT scan we are doing pretty damn good.

@mcgeeva ouch!!! OHSS!!! I forgot you got it! At my first IVF I was at the risk of getting it. But luckily I didn’t.

At 13w I also needed maternity jeans. But instead, for another 1+ weeks, I kept wearing jeans with pants extenders but it was too painful. As I was too big for the extenders!!!

Go get some maternity clothes. You’d feel so much better!!
