I think DD is starting to outgrow her dairy intolerance but I don’t want to tell our families. I want to start her out pretty slowly and I’m afraid they’ll take it to mean they can give her ALL the dairy. Also DD’s intolerance helped me control the amount of sweets and junk food my MIL fed her, because most of them had milk. I’m kind of sad to lose that.
DH wanted to go visit his family this weekend and I convinced him not to because we were gone last weekend and the house is a disaster. Really, I just don't want to see MIL. He wants to go next weekend and I'm half tempted to send him and DS down there and just stay home.
I generally don't judge other moms but I'm giving major side-eye to my sil. She doesn't discipline her boys and let's them run wild and do whatever they want. They're 5 and 3 and while I understand she doesn't want to be a helicopter parent, these boys need some discipline in their lives. Her 3 year old knocked out his front tooth the other night while running around like a maniac and she was all "boys will be boys." Like wtf?!!!
I too like to smell other people’s alcohol sometimes. Very depressing.
Were going to look at a house tomorrow that’s at he absolute top of our price range and now with having to put a second kid in daycare... I think I’m stressing my husband out. I think we will actually have to look at our finances and try to budget/wrangle our miscellaneous spending. We currently don’t pay attention at all (another confession) but we will probably have to be adults soon. I just need to remember how stressful it will be for my husband who always feels like he needs to be the keeper of our financial security. But also I love what I’ve seen of this house so far... damn.
@potterphile We're the exact opposite in our house. I handle all of the money and it's super stressful. We ended up not getting a place we really liked because it was top of our budget and I just couldn't pull the trigger knowing what a strain it puts on us. I hope if you love the place you can put in an offer that is more reasonable for your husbands peace of mind and they accept it. Good luck.
@kiwieloping - I had a dream I drank a glass of wine and felt no guilt, woke up feeling incredibly guilty though. I wish I had no guilt. I miss drinking a lot. Today is my birthday, I might have a sip of my Hs beer but I dunno. Probably not! Gah! The struggle is real. I'm probably going to debate this all day in my head.
I just had a a sip of DH beer last night at a concert (we saw steve Miller band ). I had sips every now and again with my first but never anything more than a sip.

DS had horrible diarrhea from eating ice cream when we were vacation with my ILs. We didn’t let him have ice cream for a long while. He’s since had it and hasn’t had a bad reaction, but both my ILs and parents think he still can’t eat it. They don’t know how to stop at a few bites.

Oh I should also add that I found some great alternatives. @ladystout08 if you're missing mimosa's you can actually buy non-alcoholic sparkling wine (at least you can here) and the one I bought was actually very good (not too sweet which was my fear). I also bought some sparkling apple juice at Costco which is very sweet but I think will make for fun mocktails in the summer mixed with a carbonated sour mix or something like that OR a bunch of lime, orange and lemon slices for a "sangria" type drink (I've given this alot of thought hahaha).
For the beer lovers, there are some good non-alcholic (as in 0.0%) beers available. I bought a 6-pack of Beck's last week so when DH cracks a cold one on a hot day I don't have to suffer with jealousy!

Thanks @sparkymcgeee I hope we can figure it out too. I don’t know if I would say my husband handles it all (we have separate accounts still) but it’s definitely expected that anything more comes from his account and this whole mortgage would be coming out of his (additional 1000-1500/mo from what we pay now) And the childcare does too (second kid will be another ~$10,500/yr). My income goes about half to student loans and the other half to misc things (groceries, things for DD, car insurance, etc). It’s just understood he makes more so he foots a lot more.... but it will def leave him with stress on this. The house is listed 40k over our max budget and our realtor (very knowledgeable actually) says we should be able to get it within our budget as it’s overpriced. So theres a good chance we never have to worry about it Bc we won’t go over that max anyways. I’m hoping we get there and it actually all looks like shit. I can swallow my feelings for the sake of my husbands sanity but it’s gonna suck- we’ve been house hunting for 5 months.
@Potterphile, when you said $10,500 a year for childcare, I was like "holy shit, where does she live?" And then I multiplied my monthly childcare rate by 12... $9,600. Holy shit.

@Potterphile@kns1988 I saw your posts and thought “holy shit, where do they live??” For the opposite reason. Tuition where we live at the center we like so far is $2,380 a month, so $28,560 a year. I’m going to go cry now.
@ladystout08 I may or may not have sat there just smelling it for a minute before I stole a sip lol.
I really miss wine the most. Especially prosecco. My MIL made mimosas last weekend and my sparkling water and OJ just wasn't the same...
I totally drank half a glass of prosecco last week. I have no guilt about a half glass of wine here and there.
I agree, in an academic sense. I'm a big fan of Expecting Better, and it discusses that there are multiple studies that show no harm from occasional light drinking. However, I'm also dealing with a paranoid PAIF brain. I decided to hold off for at least first tri (and maybe second too), then perhaps have an occasional glass in third. We're going to two weddings in September, so I think I'll at least have the little tiny glass of champagne they give for toasts.
In the meantime, I pour Fever Tree Ginger Ale in a wine glass, and call it fauxsecco.
I guess I’ll count my lucky stars on daycare. When I was working, DS was at my SIL in home daycare three days a week and I think we were paying around $420 a month. She has a great daycare, too.
I confess that I miss wine and beer too especially when trying to potty train. I smelled DH’s beer last night. I may take sips here and there.
I have today off and told MH that I would be cleaning and organizing the house. We he pissed me off last night so all I have done is take a very long trip to Target and make food for the kids. Debating whether to clean during nap time or have some me time.
I took a sip of my husband's beer last night. I couldn't take it anymore. He was drinking a Blue Moon. I love Blue Moon with a slice of orange. I've been drinking seltzer mixed with cranberry juice and a squeeze of lime, which is refreshing for summer.
@ladystout I am wondering how much longer I'll be able to fit in my regular work clothes. I've been away all week so I've wearing all casual stuff. I'm giving it another two weeks and I'll probably be right behind you.
@CoastieGirl79 it's mostly my shirts. I tend to wear high waist dress pants or leggings anyway but I usually wear fitted blouses and if I go up a size it falls off me everywhere else. Plus my boobs are up a dang cup size already.

Me time, hands down. I'm currently on a dishes strike.
@ladystout08 the dishes are definitely getting left for him and I’m thinking of telling him he has to do the floors. DD2 just woke up so I’m not anticipating getting much more than the pantry I just cleaned out done.
I’m with you @ladystout08 and @achays11! DH got mad at me this morning for being barfy about the fridge smelling (and me asking him to fix that problem)... then I apologized for not unloading dishwasher because hello, sick and tired, and he says “I’m tired too”. Needless to say dishes are still there.
I told my boss on Monday that I wasn’t feeling good (vomiting, feeling nauseous). He’s the only one that knows I’m pregnant. I took that to my advantage only bc I didn’t want to think about what to wear to cover my obvious belly and he let me remote into all of our meetings (yes, in my pjs).
I’m hoping I can use this card sporadically because Monday sucks. With that said, HAPPY FRIDAY. So glad week is done.
I daydream about not having my dog anymore. He's a 4 year old lab and while hes generally a good dog, I just think my life would be so much easier without him. It probably doesn't help that everytime he has to go out, I have to walk him on a leash. He can be such an a-hole sometimes.
@ladystout08 I bought some maternity shorts a couple weeks ago, because why the hell should I have to suffer? Bloat, uterus, baby... Who cares, it's all uncomfortable. Maternity clothes have got to be the comfiest clothes on the planet. For my work pants, I'm just using a hair tie through the loop to hold the button closed. Gives me that extra inch of room to breathe, and it's great.
@jgil85 That makes me so sad! lol I have a golden retriever that is absolutely my baby and I could never give him up.
#1: I've already started wearing maternity pants/shorts because why not. They're also super cute.
#2: I haven't worked out in 2 weeks, and I hate it. I feel so lazy. I used to work out 4 times a week. There's no reason I haven't worked out besides I'm tired, I'm busy, and it's humid out.
