Just got out of the hospital and diagnosed with HG, anyone else suffering? Any STM+ who had HG previously have any tips? Currently at 8w4d and have lost a total of 20lbs. This blows.
Thanks ladies. @molosmiles it depends on the person and pregnancy, sometimes it lasts until 15 weeks and sometimes the whole pregnancy and some women experience it even after giving birth. I’m really hoping mine doesn’t last long, I have an extreme phobia of vomiting, so this is just a panic attack all the time for me.
I have not but two very dear friends did. I'm so sorry you're going through this. One was hospitalized a couple of times for fluids and both ended up with a zofran pump. I hope you get some relief soon.
Apparently there is a nausea clinic that helps women time their medication better to control their symptoms. I am lucky that I dont have HG, so I haven't used the site myself.
Another friend had severe nausea all pregnancy and then after birth, until she stopped breast feeding. She only tried to breast feed a few weeks and was too sick to continue. Once she stopped and the hormone levels went back to normal, she finally was nausea free.
@Imfs90 sorry lurking from feb 2019 group and yes my second pregnancy I did. I was able to carry to term 37 weeks and two days. I lost 69 pounds durning my pregnancy luckily I was about 220 when I had gotten pregnant. I spent most of my third trimester in the hospital being pumped full of fluids and Zofran. DS came out healthy and happy at 6lbs and 9 oz. never have and issue with my first pregnancy or my third pregnancy. I’m sorry you going though this.
@lmfs90 I had severe nausea and frequent vomiting throughout my pregnancy. I don't believe I was ever officially diagnosed. I'm assuming you're taking medications? If you're taking diclegis, it took a few days to really start working for me. I think I was too dehydrated by the time I started and I kept vomiting the pills back up whole, which was super discouraging. My best advice is to go get IV fluids when you need them. I'm not a hospital person, but it really does help you reset and get back on the right track. Be methodical about medications. Stay on top of eating and drinking (anything you think might possibly stay down). Different temperatures were helpful for me (ice cream sandwiches and popcicles). You can do it! You aren't alone! There are also support groups on Facebook.
Im a ftm and I was hospitalized about a week ago, I had lost 15 pounds at 8 weeks and 4 days pregnant. They have me reglan and fluids - which made my head feel terrible and I got incredibly jittery. So my ob put me on bonjesta, which keeps me sleeping through the night and keeping food down until around 4pm, which is a miracle. I literally cannot eat anything, and sometimes can't drink between 4pm an 945pm. The bonjesta knocks me out and I take it at 9pm.
I'm so sorry you are going through this, the inability to keep food and water in your body is awful, and I hope that you can find some relief some way.
I’m on zofran as needed, and benedryl at night before bed. I wake up able to eat something small and just kind of roll with whatever my craving is. I just have to grab it fast before the nausea sets in. I threw up a few times today but was able to keeep down a decent amount of food and water.
So sorry, sympathy! With my second, I ended up hospitalized for 4 weeks with a picc line from weeks 22-delivery (36 weeks) to get by. I lost 35 pounds.
With my last, I stayed on top of it with zofran and fluids at home, and my doctor is taking the same approach but have not needed the in home care yet. When I go 12 hours with no fluids they bring me in for a bag of fluids. I can definitely commiserate and while it feels hopeless can say it is worth it at the end. It's intense and I'm sorry!
