We found out the sex, and we don’t plan to tell anyone. That may change as my mom’s prognosis is poor, but I still plan to keep it a secret from everyone else until baby is here. Right now nobody expects that we’d know because it’s so early, and we’ll be able to say honestly that we’re not finding out at my 20w ultrasound so...
Long story reasoning: we have a boy and a girl, and inevitably one is going to be disappointed. But it’ll be hard for them to be disappointed when they see the little baby, and I’d like them to be the first to know. So... there it is.
I'm a few days behind on the dishes. I couldn't do them yesterday because there was a giant attack moth right next to the sink and I didn't want to die. I have no excuse for the day before that beyond "I don't wanna."
@runrinserepeat Sending all the hugs and good thoughts. I'm sorry you didn't get good news yesterday; I hope you and your mom and dad and your family are able to find peace and joy in the time you have left together
@runrinserepeat I definitely agree with you deciding to keep the gender to yourself and have your children be the first to know! I'm like that with baby's name. We will not share with anyone until after the birth. People are SO judgy and have an opinion on everything! and it's not as easy to hate the name when you see the baby! I also have a rule that no one holds the baby before me (except DH). Last birth was a section and this will probably be too and H had strict instruction that if something happened and I was put to sleep or there was an emergency no one is to see that child until I do.
ETA: My FFC.. H worked super late last night so I gave DS leftover pasta for supper and for my supper I ate chocolate mug cake in bed.
@AGK2015 “attack moth” made me laugh. My sister hates/is afraid of moths and that sounds like an excuse she would use too.
I dont have an excuse for not doing housework this week. I’ve had more than enough time, I’ve just been procrastinating. I still have to clear off the guest bed and put fresh sheets on it for a guest I’ll have tonight. Also need to get SO to take the old litter boxes out of the guest bathtub (we bought a new one and downsized from 2 to 1- she’ll have 2 boxes again when we can figure out a space to put it that doesn’t ruin the carpet). Litter boxes are his problem right now. And, I’m sitting in my pjs right now watching the World Cup and fine tuning the baby registry instead.
I had a lunchmeat sandwich and Hot Cheetos for lunch.

WRT names, I will lie and tell any parent-to-be that I love the name they’ve chosen, even if it’s awful. I’m usually very honest with people, but in that situation I figure that’s not what they want anyway.
My brother told me the name they’ve mostly settled on, and it’s actually wonderful and I love it for real. No lying necessary.
@runrinserepeat and @kristah2 No flames here! When people tell their child’s name, they are not asking your opinion, so just smile and say something nice!
FFFC: TL;DR Doing a petty happy dance for not having to fake nice to our neighbors.
Yesterday our psycho neighbor came into my yard (through the gate) twice, angry AF bc my watering of the grass was going ~6” over the fence and I guess I didn’t lower it enough to please her the first time she asked. She started yelling at me and adjusting my faucet (turned it up, idiot) and basically saying I’ll rue the day I lost their friendship. (We’ve always tried really hard to avoid getting water on their driveway and always turned it down immediately if they let us know it’s going over).
The confession: we’ve been polite, but f*ucking loathe them, they are nosy, obnoxious peeping toms and feed the squirrels peanuts making our yard covered in shells. After we paid to have it cleaned and asked them to stop feeding peanuts for a month since my allergic god daughter was coming to visit (neighbor said hell no, she’s always fed the squirrels and doesn’t care if the 1yr old had a reaction). It was sooo nice to finally say, uh- at least no one on your side is deathly allergic to water. *shrug* I legit did a happy dance bc I don’t have to fake nice anymore. I can’t wait until they see the moving sign. Bye F’alicia!!
@hbmama21 wtf?! She sounds horrible, I'm glad you'll be moving away from her soon. And who tf cares if her yard gets water? It's not damaging the grass, I think they'll be fine. My DH would love if our neighbors sprinklers reached our yard a little, we don't have a sprinkler system so our yard isn't as green as we'd like lol.
AFM, I ate a burger and fries for lunch one day this week knowing it would put my blood sugar over. I only went over by 9 points though, so I feel a little less guilty about it lol.
@katy0990 it’s been a learning experience for sure. #1 criteria for new house—space from neighbors!
@cecilb93 seriously! Apparently their grill got wet? The one they leave outside 365 days a year uncovered through the northeast winter (MUD)...meanwhile said grill is pushed as close to our vinyl fence as possible and has badly warped the fence. Lol. But they also got mad at the lady down the street and called the town to get her cited for feeding pigeons. The hypocrisy goes wayyyy over their heads.
A day late, but grrr. I am losing it with my husband who is all kinds of amazing and takes care of so much. But I super annoyed rught now because he keeps saying things to me based on clearly hearing only a quarter of whatever I said. What is the effing point of communicating anything to you if you don’t actually listen??? And then I feel like a jerk for getting annoyed about whatever small detail when in the context if everything I am so lucky.
I had to go out of town this weekend for work. My first trip away from my 16month old son. It was pretty wonderful. Long showers, eating in peace, actually taking time to do my hair and makeup. And last night we had a big company dinner celebration and i ordered a ridiculously expensive and utterly delicious steak and glass of red wine. It was marvelous.
I almost felt felt like the old me. Except the old me would have had 3 glasses of cheap wine. LOL

I finally thought of one and don’t want to wait until next Friday because I’ll inevitably forget it.
People need to stahp with those big dumb social media wide-brim hats that are in style these days. The trend was a little cute at the beginning but now when every mom in my sling FB group and housedress FB group pose with them on it just looks soooo homogeneous and uncreative. Not that my wardrobe is super creative but it’s like these women want to look fashionable but just end up looking like every other woman out there. #petty

FFFC I’m only supposed to leave my braces trays off for a total of 2hrs per day, but Friday night my friend came into town to begin her stay with us. I took my trays off at 10pm to eat, and left them off until we went to bed at 1am. I’ve been very good about brushing/flossing/wearing the trays, and I earned those 3 hours to just hang out and not be controlled by my eating/brushing schedule for once. No regrets. (They were a little more uncomfortable to put back in, but they were fine again by morning).
@kristah2 We did the same with DS, no one knew his name until he was born. We are doing the same this go round. We already have names picked out but no one else knows them.
@hbmama21 OMG someone who lives near us feeds the stupid squirrels peanuts and I find the shells all over our yard. JUST STOP!! They can find their own food, they're wild animals not pets.
