@echo-charlietango @PensiveCrayon Seriously, some days i have to remind myself, "oh, right, don't chug that beer, you're preg". I just feel so....fine. lol

no appts this week but sent my Dr a message this morning asking about my NT scan results because it's been a week and I haven't heard anything about my trisomy risk. When I was in the US the tech (are they US techs or sonographers?) said i was "on the high side of the normal range" so I am just waiting for the assurance from my bloodwork and age calculations. It's making me nervous to not hear anything though. Hoping she messages me back today.

@PensiveCrayon Yes, it is the worst! I self-soothed with some googling. Many other sites had threads about the same Week 13 panic. **TW in spoiler**
It doesn’t help that I had a MC dream the other night! Last year I had a MMC, so no bleeding or cramping...and no baby. So of course I dreamt of another MMC...even though they’re really rare this late in the game :no_mouth:
I also glanced at fetal Dopplers online, but think I talked myself out of buying one...for now.

ETA: *hugs back* It just sucks.

@morgantu I call them sonographers, because my OB hires more specialists than skilled workers. I am sure that the difference is their medical education and/or training. I don’t think I’ve ever looked at their badges for titles though.
Happy that you’re also feeling better (despite the suspicion it brings).

    @morgantu
I was under the impression they took the measurement from the ultrasound, then blood work from week 11 and week 15 to get the risk level.  I am 15 + 1 today, and will have an appt later this week and will do the second half of the blood work.  After that comes back, then they can give you your results.  At least that is how my doctor's office does it.
  • Options
@Jens_Hoes oh- that would be cool. I'm just no sure what their process is. And i don't think I'm scheduled for any blood work for a while. Hopefully i at least get an answer for some expectations today.

Not an appointment this week, but I did set up my first appointment at the new OB for July 3rd, woo. It sounds like I won’t be getting my anomaly scan then, which makes sense, as it’s my first appointment with them. Still. Poop. I am about 90% certain this babe is a boy but I want to knowwwww!

@echo-charlietango yay for good results! I am also team green already converted. Except it was from a super early ultrasound (12w5d), so I keep trying to convince myself into thinking if I don’t find out later I can still be team green because it could be wrong. I don’t know what to think about what I’ve done at this point.  :#

@snugglyduckling25 I'm so sorry you are having this experience. I've also had unexpected appointments due to bleeding, so I get the nerves. I hope your SCH resolves quickly and without incident!  Good vibes!

@snugglyduckling25 good luck with your appointment! I have a large SCH, so I know the scary bleeding. If your Dr was really concerned he would have put you on pelvic rest. I'm guessing yours isn't that bad if he didn't do that. Hoping you're goes away soon.

@scaredunprepared thank you!  I'm counting down the hours until my appointment!

@gorgeousariel I am on pelvic rest also. :(  My doctor said it's not small, but it's not huge. I'm sorry you are going through this too.

@snugglyduckling25 I'm sorry you're dealing with that, I hope your SCH resolves soon!

I had my 16w appointment today which was short & sweet. The heartbeat went from 168 at 12w to 147 today, wowza! They scheduled our A/S for 18w (OMG only two weeks away!) since we are not finding out. My nurse knows DH isn't totally on board with not finding out and said we'll schedule a little early so it's hard to tell the sex yet.  :D@echo-charlietango I would totally be too curious to not look! I think at our US I'm going to just keep repeating that we don't want to know.

Nothing else for now, I love eventless appointments!

@gorgeousariel @snugglyduckling25 Sorry you're both on dealing with SCH right now, hope they dissolve/disappear right away!

@temmetime Congrats on the good appt, and that's exciting that your A/S is so soon - and hopefully ambiguous  It's so funny that I was totally cool not knowing...until the results were on paper! Then all of a sudden - bam - ultra curious. We're telling some friends the sex, but not family - I don't want super gendered everything.

I had an appointment today - teeth cleaning! Everything was good, and I opted out of the fluoride goop because I didn't want to run errands with big ol' white chunks cemented to my teeth. I always regret not flossing when the hygienist flosses for me and I get grossed out from smelling the...findings. *gag* I wish I could get my molars scraped once a month, I love that extra-clean feeling. Mmm.

@morgantu, my niece has Down Syndrome.  I don't know exactly which tests were done along the way to indicate that.  I know the NT scan was the first indication and the CVS was the final confirmation.  I'm nearly certain that they found out for certain around 14 weeks so I would think that if you came back high risk, they would be in a hurry to get back to you.  I don't think they can do CVS after 14 weeks and it's supposed to be much lower risk than amniocentesis which (I believe) is the option after 14 weeks.

I had my NT scan yesterday.  Everything looked except that the blood flow through one of my arteries to the baby is "slightly abnormal" which can be an early indicator that I'll develop pre-eclampsia so now I'm on baby aspirin just in case and they took blood work to measure some other indicators.

My heart rate and blood pressure have both been higher since I got pregnant.  They are normal but I usually run very low on both so normal is high for me.  Has anyone else seen this?  I have an appointment with my OB next week.  It's on my list of questions for him.  I've just been assuming that it's normal during pregnancy but the mention of pre-eclampsia makes me wonder.

@abowls thanks for your response! I agree, I would think that if I needed additional testing, they would have gotten back to me sooner to make sure it happened. I just always get antsy waiting for test results!

@morgantu, I absolutely understand that.  I'm always very impatient about hearing back from Drs too.

@echo-charlietango I think you have a good plan! I responded here before I saw what you're having. If it was written on paper and I had access to it, I'm sure I would look! I want the A/S scan out of the way so I'm not tempted anymore.

@abowls sorry to hear they are concerned about potential for pre-eclampsia. As far as I know, the volume of the circulatory system goes up with pregnancy (there are more places blood is circulating - to baby, etc) so blood pressure actually often decreases in pregnancy.

@morgantu I’m sorry you’re still waiting on results. I would definitely thumbs up nudging  your doctor on that. Hope you hear good news soon!

As for me, I had my NT ultrasound today and 12 week OB visit. Everything looks good with baby! Unfortunately (also mentioned in Symptoms thread), it looks like my thyroid has bounced out of range. Waiting to hear from my OB how to proceed. Apparently I need to see a nutritionist too because I lost another 3 lbs in the past 2 weeks.

NT scan at 2:40 central time.  I felt baby wiggling around in there last night so I'm feeling a little less anxiety about going in to this appointment.

Thank you @echo-charlietango :)  the only way I've been able to feel anything is right before bed (babies in the womb seem to be nocturnal) and to lie really still and put my hand on my abdomen and feel the movement from both outside and inside at the same time.  Maybe give it a try tonight!  I never notice any movement when I'm just going about my day.

@coco2787 I’m totally going to try that! I just periodically lay on my tum and tell my dogs to stop kissing me. They ruin all of my baby-feeling attempts.

So update on my NT scan issues with my ob office. The first US wasn't successful because the baby was moving too much/ not in the right position. I had my accompanying blood work done on that day. When the sonographer told me i needed to come back in, they didn't tell me i needed to re-do the blood work because apparently it has to happen on the same day. So my results weren't processed.  And now it's too late to do it over. Soooooooo i guess we wait and see what happens now.

ugh, that's so frustrating @morgantu.  Why wouldn't they tell you all of this earlier??

@scaredunprepared I’ve never been on meds before. I have been monitored for a while for autoimmune thyroid but TSH/T4 has always been within normal limits. I’m starting levothyroxine tomorrow. Fingers crossed it works for me. I have an awesome high-risk OB, but not followed by MFM or emdocrinology (at least not yet).

Congrats on getting cleared to resume kickboxing!!
  • Options
@coco2787 i don't know! AND the US office is connected to the dr office so you would think they would have at least communicated about it or the sonographer would have mentioned it. I'm not super worried, just annoyed.

PS- sonographer keeps getting autocorrected to pornographer and it cracks me tf up lol
  • Options
@Katzalia it sounds like your OB is right on the money.  Definitely a good decision to start meds as any TSH above 2.0 (per my endocrinologist) is not good during pregnancy. I know other doctors have different parameters.  I would request to have your level checked once ever 4-6 weeks if your OB doesn't recommend that, just to be sure the levothyroxine is working.  Hopefully you won't need to see extra doctors, it's a pain in the butt with all these appointments!  Good luck!
  • Options
@scaredunprepared thanks, that’s reassuring. The plan with my OB is to check levels every 4 weeks during pregnancy, and can do every 2 weeks if I am having changes in symptoms. So I feel pretty comfortable having my OB manage for now. But I think if it doesn’t get better controlled (at least moving in the right direction) by the next check in 4 weeks, she may consider referring me to endocrinology.
