Protonix ? Acid reflux/Gerd

Ugh, I have those and I take Protonix daily. The pharmacy told me to stop taking them until I see the Dr., but holy geez, the heartburn is unreal. My throat is burning. It is making the m/s nausea twice as bad. Has anyone else be cleared to take Protonix or is there hope they can prescribe me something else? Please tell me there is relief available, tums are just not cutting it at all.

    i have acid reflux really bad and I keep taking my nexium  ask your doctor

    Just talk to the dr tomorrow.  Protonix is a cat B.  It is not an A, but most drugs aren't.  Most likely they will have you keep taking it, or maybe they have a preference with a different med, like prevacid or nexium.  But they probably didn't want to tell you to keep taking it without knowing your background and whether you have a high risk pregnancy, you know?  Your doctor would know that best.

    I would call my OB ASAP. There is no point in suffering. I couldn't get a straight answer until I saw my midwife at 10 weeks. She would rather me take my Nexium, which is a Cat B drug as well, than have no esophagus. Trust me, call as soon as you can.

    My doctor prescribed Ranitidine (Zantac) in the 150mg dose for my heartburn. I never had it before but since becoming pregnant it's a huge issue. Don't know if that will help you, but it works really well for me.

    I take Protonix every once in a while.  My doctor told me it was fine to continue to take while pregnant.  I would talk to your doctor about it, each doctor is different on what they say is okay to take and is not okay to take while pregnant.
