  • What are you doing to stay fit?
Still Orange Theory and a run when I am up for it in the FL humidity.

Any new developments/additions to your fitness routine?
Slowing down on the treadmill. Rowing sucks and I may have to forgo that soon. Belly is getting in the way.

Do any any of you plan to incorporate baby in to your fitness routine?
I walked/ran with DS and did mommy and me yoga a few times but it is better for me to do it alone most times.

  • What are you doing to stay fit? I didn’t go great this week...I didn’t sleep well a few nights so that made it hard to get up and go. But I did make it to the gym 3 days so it’s something!

Any new developments/additions to your fitness routine? Not really, everything just seems to be getting harder! I have had to lighten up some of my weights even more because the added body weight makes a lot of exercises difficult.

Do any any of you plan to incorporate baby in to your fitness routine? Not sure yet, I am curious to see what others have tried! I think other than walks, I will probably mostly workout on my own and have DH watch the baby.

@laumb11 that’s what I was wondering. I have seen videos and different things about working out with your baby but I’m not sure how it would actually work well.

  • @Laumb11 oh girl, idk how you are still running. It's like a bowling ball bouncing on my bladder. Rowing is waaaaay more comfortable. Everybody is truly different!!

I worked out once this week, so that's not bad considering I took 2 weeks off after my stomach bug. Squats still suck big time.

No new developments, it's just a lightening of loads and intensity. Burpees went away 2 weeks ago, those were AWFUL.

Haven't thought about incorporating baby into my routine, other than carrying her is going to get my arms stronger lol.
  • @jemmerjams It totally depends on the day. I am not doing a lot of miles. I usually only do 1.5 at OTF. On Saturday I felt really good and did 3. A far cry from the 3 halves I did jan-march :( Burpees are always awful lol. I    did some last week and totally modified.

  • @Laumb11 oh gosh, I ran about 50m and gave up haha. That's great you can still run!
  • @jemmerjams I agree with you, running is so hard, and although squats always such, they are so much worse now! I feel like leg day is so much harder now since adding these extra 8 pounds!

  • @spartan4life I've found deadlifting isn't too bad. I tried doing a normal stance this week, but it felt a little weird, so I switched to a sumo stance and it felt much better. Plus, I feel like I don't round my back as much in sumo, so that's better for me anyway!
  • @jemmerjams I’ll have to try that! I stopped deadlifts early on because I had very early back pain and didn’t want to make it worse. Found out it was from a tilted uterus which has since corrected and I haven’t had problems since so maybe I can do deadlifts again!

  • @spartan4life it's all about finding what works for you. At our gym, we had a pregnant lady (who just gave birth, and who's water broke in class!) who barely scaled anything down, and wanted to keep doing all the WODs RX and still lift pretty heavy. And here I am, scaling the shit outta everything. Everyone is different! Hopefully you find some exercises that work for you!
  • What are you doing to stay fit?
Walking at least 30 minutes per day. On a stretch where I have done it for more than 2 weeks straight! Trying to keep it going as long as possible. I am just uncomfortable running at all.

Any new developments/additions to your fitness routine?
Also doing 20 minute prenatal workouts from an app on my phone 3-4 times per week. Making healthy food choices and saving splurges for weekends.

Do any any of you plan to incorporate baby in to your fitness routine in any way?
I’m hoping our winter is mild enough to take baby for some walks while I’m on maternity leave. If not, baby carrier and our treadmill!
  • What are you doing to stay fit?
Same old, which makes me pretty hapoy. Got in 2 solid runs and 3 Pilates workouts this week!

Any new developments/additions to your fitness routine?
I finally hit the point where prime extension work feels funny. I’ll have to start modifying for that one.

Do any any of you plan to incorporate baby in to your fitness routine?
Planning to just get a jogging stroller and have it multitask as the everyday one. I see running in my future. Not sure what else yet.

Running still. Thursday I went on a 5 mile run, got lost and turned it into an 8 mile run by accident. I was out of town for work. It is getting harder though. When it bothers my bladder i walk for a bit and try to find a bathroom if I can.

    More walking and swimming lately.

yes! Hope to run with baby in a jogger stroller.
  • Any thoughts on jumping? I’m still doing my regular Zumba class that is approved by my midwife but people seem to freak out when they hear that I do small jumps (nothing crazy and just for short periods of some aerobics songs). I’ve definitely begun slowing down in Zumba class and have mostly stopped regular runs and just jog around the basement while I watch Netflix to get my steps up. I have a Fitbit addiction.
  • @jenchoo Understand the Fitbit addiction (although since getting pregnant and I seem to care much less which probably isn’t good!). I personally have eliminated almost any jumping activities because they just are uncomfortable for me. I think the biggest concern is for your joints and ligaments since everything relaxes and stretches during pregnancy. But I think if you are comfortable with it, if your body is used to doing it and your midwife approves, I say go for it.

  • @jenchoo agree with @spartan4life, talk to your midwife. I still do jump rope and that kind of thing, but I won't do anything where there is a risk of falling...so, no more box jumps, or jumping over barbells (tripping hazard), etc. It's hella uncomfortable for me though, so that is pretty self limiting.

@spartan4life this is the first year I haven't hit 1 million steps by now. Usually I'm at least at 1.5 million by now. That lazy 1st tri really did me in lol. But now that my office bathroom is on the other side of our floor, and I'm peeing every hour, I can probably make up those steps :D
  • I started Keto last week but after my 23 week appointment showed me in Ketosis my doctor quickly told me that's a no go.

It was super disappointing as I was feeling really good. I actually don't agree with the reasons she cited either... But oh well, healthy baby is the ultimate goal here.

Otherwise I've been doing some more prenatal yoga which is helping me feel more "lose" in my hips which is helping a lot.

  • sticking with my yoga routine at work.  Hoping to find a way to keep up the motivation once baby arrives. morning yoga outside on tuesdays has been amazing, love that my job offers this.  Other than that, i'm not doing much else, although to be fair i've never been a super active person.  Trying to keep my mindless eating in check and make better food choices. The night snacking is the worst!

@Gizmo1231 can you still follow a high fat diet, but just not to the extreme where it puts you in ketosis? I am a big fan of high fat diets and feel so much better on them (less anxiety, cravings, etc). It's been hard to follow that when I have had so many aversions to fatty things this pregnancy, and carbs just are tasting so damn good, but my goal is to get closer to that. Especially since I'm worried I'm gonna fail the glucose test.

ETA: pretty sure I've never been in ketosis because I always have eaten some fruit, but still feel like I have gotten a lot of the benefits just eating higher fat. I liked how I didn't have to snack when I followed that diet, I just had to eat 3 meals a day. Do not recommend that now because of heartburn, but I make sure to put lots of fat in my food and cut back on my carbs a bit.
  • Thanks to everyone for the input with jumping. I still feel good doing it so I’m not going to worry. Plus, I’ve put on more weight than I would like and the tech said my baby is in the 91st percentile so I don’t think a little extra excercise will hurt!
