CD12- “4x2” follie vs cyst but nothing else?

i just had my CD12 monitoring ultrasound, and I thought I’d have a dominant follicle because my Clearblue Advanced OPK turned flashing smiley yesterday (estrogen surge). Yet I had a “4x2” follicle on my left ovary (assuming that’s 4 by 2 cm?) and all my other follicles were <10mm. Then they asked me if I’d gotten my period last month... yes, light amount, but 3 days with some bright red blood. My lining measured 7.4. What is going on? They wouldn’t give any other info and said to wait for the RE in charge to get in touch.

  • I don't know but I would guess you either had a 14mmx12mm  (13mm) or a 24mmx22mm (23mm) follicle. 4cmx2cm (40mmx20mm) seems like an awfully odd shape...not sure it's even possible.  I would definitely ask to see the screen next time so they can show you what they're looking at.  You are paying for it so don't be afraid to speak up.

Thanks. Got my blood tests back and I have LH 10 and estrogen nearly 300 so there’s my answer... it’s a mature follicle! I was told to trigger tonight and IUI tomorrow morning! I thought the IUI is usually 24 hours after but perhaps that’s because they think I’m about to O on my own anyhow

SOO, I just found out the follicle is 21mm with estrogen almost 300, which seems pretty perfect for CD12 to me! The nurse said that the trainee who did my ultrasound “must have thought it was a baseline scan” when he said it was likely a cyst. Does she mean that because on CD2, anything so big so early would just be a cyst, but for me on CD12, it’s fine?
