@eerin86 Oh fun! I love weddings! Good call about the coffee.
I'm getting my hair done today! An ashy blonde with lavender highlights is the plan. So excited. Otherwise it's just a little bit of work this weekend and a lot of travel prep.
@SkilledSailor that sounds like fun hair! I can’t do anything crazy with color due to my job, but I’m thinking about taking advantage of the three months off for maternity leave to go wild
Not a lot of fun planned this weekend, but we did start the morning with homemade waffles! Cleaned out most of the closed in back porch this morning in prep for DS's party next weekend. Trying to clean out our third bedroom so we can start making progress in there. H is determined to get the crib set up this weekend. I'd like to go out for ice cream at some point. Hopefully we'll have a good balance of getting stuff done and relaxing.
Our garden party baby shower is today. Our nursery will be a flower garden theme, and I found a beautiful floral maxi dress on Amazon that makes my bump look enormous (in such a good way). I'm slightly anxious about being the center of attention, but still excited to show off this bump to family and friends who don't see me very often. Unfortunately I woke up at like 3:45 am and couldn't get back to sleep. Hoping nobody wants to stay with us tonight so I can get some rest. Trying to get the house together a little just in case, but it's a wreck, and I can only do so much before my hips give out or my feet swell up, so they'll just have to deal with it. I mean, I'LL just have to deal with it. Baby girl is moving all around, hope she's this active later this afternoon so people can feel her.
I'm making good progress on cleaning up junk and organizing. I'm hoping we can start setting up the nursery later today. We're hanging out with some friends tomorrow afternoon. Should be a productive and relaxing weekend.

@nackie I’m the same as you, can’t do anything fun because of my job, but I travel for the last time in two weeks and then I’ll be in my home office until after the new year. I have a hair appointment the week after I travel the last time. I’m thinking, like you, I might use this time to do something fun since no clients or work people will see me.
@rachel1008 enjoy your shower! A garden party sounds fantastic.
@starla hope you get to start setting up the nursery today!
We (okay, H) is helping the inlaws move furniture today, but it also means we get to pick up our crib from them. They got it for us as a gift, but said I could go ahead and take it so we can put it together now for the nursery! Once that’s put together I can buy a rug and hang things on the walls!!
... I forgot the bump for a few moments this morning and went running across our field trying to get dd’s kite to fly... my under the bump muscles are not impressed w me now. I don’t feel like I damaged anything as much as made those muscles work harder than they are accustomed to. There is no contracting or intense pain, just general soreness. The bump itself is still dancing and wiggling and did not mind in the least. *eyeroll*

Went to a birthday party last night and got home after midnight. That’s the first (and probably last) time we’ve done that in a long time. This morning I had to get up early to get DD from my parents house, while DH has been sleeping off his hangover all day. We took a little drive to meet up with another mom from my prior BMB who was in town and her daughter, then hung out at my sister’s until my mom kicked us out. She said DD was making more of a mess and she wanted to clean. Tomorrow is swim lessons and checking out hot tubs, and hopefully putting together the double stroller. Other than that I just want to sleep.
We had a fantastic day!! I was not in the mood to see my in-laws because it’s all about the pregnancy and all the other things I’ve complained about recently. Apparently my H told them last weekend or this week at some point that people touching my belly makes me uncomfortable because they didn’t try touch it even though that was the first thing MIL did last weekend when we saw them. Today H helped them bring in a new couch and recliner and we got their old (still new) couch and recliner. We spent about 2.5 hours in the car going to and from their house and we talked and chit chatted about normal things the entire time. Then after we got the couch and recliners in our house he took me to hobby lobby to get upholstery fabric to refinish this comfortable but absolutely hideous chair we have. When we got home from there I sewed while he mowed and moved the recliners around. It was nice to spend a day doing things we would any other time. I felt like my old self (well more nauseas than old me) and like not every single thing or really much of anything revolves around me being pregnant.
Also, the in-laws gave us our crib today so excited to go back to pregnant me again and put that together and decorate.
It sounds like everyone has been having a good time. The wedding was great, we had a lot of fun.
Today we are off to Breakfast on the Farm (each year the county hosts a gigantic breakfast on a local farm and there are farm tours and all sorts of activities) because it's Wisconsin, and June is dairy month. Seriously guys if you ever find yourself in Wisconsin in June try to go to one
Yesterday was a pretty normal day over here. I worked in the morning and stopped for groceries and things on the way home (including fresh tubes of concealer and mascara, yay!) It was MILs birthday last week, so we'll be driving out there today for a visit.... but I also have to try and set up the serger because I'm officially up to 4/5 of my maternity work pants that I need to re-sew the hems! :s Trying to get through an entire work week washing one pair of pants over and over is not something I really want to get into.
We also spent a good amount of time yesterday talking about strollers/travel systems, and we even found the one we are looking at online for 20% off this weekend, so I think today's the day we pull the trigger! It will be our first major baby purchase really, so that's kind of a big deal, but my mom also sent us some cash for it, so I get to mark it on the registry as a gift from her. ❤ I called her yesterday to thank her again and catch up... 27 weeks today. It's all feeling very real!
@EErin86 I’ll be in Wisconsin in two weeks, but guess there won’t be many farm tours in the middle of the week. I really want to get up there with H one summer for Summerfest.
@BusinessWife sorry your having to deal with this he hem of your pants. I’m with you though, I wouldn’t want to wash one pair of pants over and over. Yay for talking about strollers/travel systems and hopefully ordering one today!!
It is so exciting that we are all making so much progress with preparing for baby! September is getting closer and closer ladies!
@businesswife That's exciting about your first big baby purchase! Which stroller have y'all decided on?
@eerin86 That sounds like a lot of fun! Who doesn't love a good breakfast in a cute setting?
@klj0228 Sounds like you had a very productive day! What kind of fabric did you pick out for the chair?
AFM, it's too hot to go to the dog festival we had planned on. Me and our black long haired dogs would not have any fun. So lots of cleaning and travel prep before seeing Oceans 8 this afternoon
@SkilledSailorI hate it’s too hot to go to the dog festival today, but you’re right it is more of a be inside day. If its this hot and humid all summer I feel like there are a lot of movies in my future. Let us know how Oceans 8 is. We just got a dark grey indoor/outdoor material for the chair. H was complaining that the furniture on the porch isn’t comfortable enough, and this chair was going to go to the dump next week. So he asked if I would re-cover it and we can put it on the porch.
The shower was great! We had lots of people, got a ton of cute stuff, the food was amazing, and people genuinely seemed to enjoy themselves (booze was flowing for everyone but the preggos). My completely alcohol free cup runneth over. My back and hips also cooperated pretty well. I think I'll mostly rest today, but I'm excited to start setting up the nursery now that we actually have things to put in it. Also feel like I've got a green light to start buying things myself.
@SkilledSailor We got the Chicco Bravo travel system. Realistically, IDK how much I'll really need a true jogger, so we will cross that bridge when we get to it. It comes with the carseat I wanted anyway (keyfit30), and with the sale price, for only about $100 more, we got a great stroller, too! It will be parent-facing as long as the carseat is clicked in, and forward-facing in the toddler stage. Perfect! And again, if we feel we need more bells and whistles down the road when LO is big enough to actually come to the store and sit it in him/herself, then there's plenty of time for that.
SIL got married yesterday! I danced all night and made it through nearly 10 hours of heels ... and I’m definitely feeling it today. I need a massage STAT
@BusinessWife Would you mind linking to the specific travel system you are getting? My best friend with 3 little kids who has gone through “tons” of car seats highly highly highly recommends the Chicco keyfit 30. I am sold on it, but getting a little confused by all the different options. I’m curious which specific travel system you picked. On Amazon there are big ranges of prices. My biggest thing is that I want something light and easy and collapsible - she assured me that Chicco is the best! TIA!
@magnolia209 We have the system @BusinessWife is getting (albeit from 2016). The main differences in the various Chicco systems are basically how the stroller functions, how the wheels are situated, and how fancy the fabric is. The advantage of the Bravo is that the fabric seat of the stroller is completely detachable and thus you can use it as a frame stroller (instead of buying the Keyfit Caddy for another $100), which was a huge convenience for us. The Bravo system itself has a variety of versions depending on the fabric you want. There is now even a “mini Bravo,” that doesn’t seem like much of a size difference to me. Anyhow, DS loves the Bravo stroller now but we will move him to his own umbrella when this LO comes to use the frame again.

We have the Chicco Keyfit 30 and it really is great. It’s rated the best on baby bargains. My sister is using it for her baby and we’ll get it back in August. I love how easy the base is to install. We got a Britax stroller which is great but it did not work well with the car seat adaptor. My sister has the Chicco Viaro and likes it. She said the difference between the Viaro and the Bravo systems are the amount of wheels in the front. (There could be other differences, I’m not sure.)
We had 45 + people at our house on Saturday for my son's second birthday. I made homemade sangria, my father brought it catered food, and the weather was warm, but not awful, plus we had enough space and shade to seat people everywhere. First outdoor mostly party at our house, and I'm really pleased. By the end of the day though (party at 3 pm, spent morning doing last minute cleaning and set up-not easy with a 2 year old and our lovely puppy), my feet were starting to swell and everything hurt.
But-we got outside picked up and food dealt with before bed (and rainstorm!), ate leftovers all day, our son slept in, and today we put together all of the new toys, finished party takedown, put away, etc, and got house really situated-and didn't leave. So that was awesome!!!!

I don't know if this should go in randoms or symptoms or what, but today my baby kicked me so hard and in such an unexpected spot that he legit scared me! I yelped and jumped and my husband was looking at me like I was a crazy person! And I'm just halfway shouting, "that was his foot! I legit felt his whole freaking foot pushing out from inside my body! Omg! That was his foot!" It was way off to the side and a lot higer than where I thought he was supposed to be. My firstborn kicked, sure, but never such a huge kick that straight up felt like a foot. My firstborn's movements were much more ambiguous. The child inside me right now is a freaking ninja! In other news, my husband finally was able to feel one of those kicks tonight! It was one of the crazy kicks that feels like baby's kicking the front of my belly up high, while simultaneously punching me in the rectum. Also, can we talk about how weird it feels to get kicked or punched in the rectum? It's so weird! Pregnancy. Is. So. Weird.
@stothi isn't is just the wildest thing! I have a crazy active babe and I just can't get over how strong he is... I definitely don't like the inward/downward kicks as much, they just feel so weird! He's been facing inward the last few days and the kicks sometime stop me dead in my tracks...
@stothi my first was like that, with the big, obvious movements. I have to say I prefered that lol. This one does some weird thing with his hands? near my belly button. The only way I can describe it, is if I picture him scratching at a door like a dog would. It’s an all day thing with him. I’m hoping it means he really wants out and I won’t have to be induced this time.
@stothi it’s a random and a symptom! I often feel like the kicking sensation is so strange in general. Things inside our bodies don’t move normally so feel it randomly is very strange/cool.
I was laying with my snoogle this morning and she was kicking and punching. Strange to feel it while laying against something else.
@klj0228 Yep! Sometimes when I’m laying with a pillow supporting my bump, I feel like he purposely gets under there and tries to roll me over. Or he throws a tantrum and it’s right at the spot where my bump touches the pillow.
@stothi@lilidubs Those internal kicks sound awful! I haven’t experienced that yet...
@stothi I've definitely been punched in the cervix and rectum ETA: by the baby (LOL!). Such a weird feeling! I assume it's punching because she's mostly head down, mostly on a diagonal.

@magnolia209 I don't think the internal kicks are bad at all, just.. uhhh... How do I say this? It's weird to have a human inside you that kicks or punches you in a way that sends vibrations down your rectum and makes your anus twitch... So hubby's got his hand on my belly in that classic beautiful loving scene between mommy and daddy and he's grinning when baby kicks my belly and his hand... All the while I'm trying to keep a straight face cause I've got a twitching bum...
@stothi Good! I’m glad they don’t hurt. So far my little guy is super active, but I haven’t felt him kicking any internal organs so I was anticipating that it would be unpleasant. Right now is movements are just crazy adorable and don’t hurt me at all.
And, that’s hilarious - the twitching bum sensation while your H is being all sweet seems straight out of a sitcom!
@stothi you just made me LOL with your description. Mine isn’t towards the back, but the low front and to feel the baby kick against my lower front is just plain strange feeling. I said the other day it feels like she is tap dancing on my cervix and bladder. I much prefer the normal upper belly kicks, which also are strange but not nearly as strange.
@starla your edit made me laugh cause I said something to my husband along the lines of, "it's so weird when I get nailed in the front and the back at the same time...oh... Wait. That sounded really bad..." Then every follow up comment I tried to make just sounded worse and worse so finally I was all, "let's just stop talking... I'm gonna go now..." lol.
@klj0228 my firstborn had the hiccups, for I swear, the entire third trimester. And he was head down and really low, so it was months of hiccups against my cervix! That was a really weird sensation!
