Re: TTTC Check-In 6/7/18
QOTW: Favorite summer produce. Definitely fresh ripe strawberries and homegrown tomatoes. I have got to find a farmers market near me. When we were in NC for vacation I bought some of the best tomatoes I've ever had and I'm on a mission to find something comparable here in Ohio.
AFM: Not much new here. My HCG levels made it under 5 and we have a consult with our RE tomorrow to talk next steps. Hoping that will give me a better idea on if we're looking at July or August for our next transfer.
DH had some severe sinus pain and facial numbing... come to find out he has nasal polyps (weird benign growths in the sinus cavities) and had to have a CT to check how many and their location. They're trying to shrink them now with a nasal steroid but if that doesn't work he'll be looking at surgery. He gets results from the CT tomorrow. It's oddly nice to have medical bills unrelated to IF for once.

AFM: Still waiting to ovulate this month. Have my 4th therapy appt today. Had to do some dear diary homework for her.
@funkykey I’m so sorry that AF was coming last week! Unless she didn’t and you actually got your miracle BFP?? I would love that so much!! I’m pulling for that, but if not, so many hugs. I almost constantly think in the last few days of any non-treatment cycle, “Maybe this time!” even when our BD timing was terrible, lol. So I totally get the working yourself up and then the disappointment.
@ChristenMA83 Fresh summer strawberries are delicious! DH and I have arguments over whether you can buy strawberries at other times (I maintain no because they are no good). I just saw some at the farmers market near my office but they were $8!
Good luck tomorrow and let us know what your RE thinks! I’m sorry to hear about YH’s sinus issues!
@meri-Mac I had forgotten you were also planning your wedding! Congratulations!
@oklahomak Woohoo for Iceland and Scotland! Iceland was great! We just got back on Tuesday (short trip). My biggest tip is that it is expensive, SO expensive. We thought we were prepared for that and then we accidentally spent $30 on snack bars. Still unsure how that happened. But the country is so beautiful—we did a couple of minibus tours into the countryside around Reykjavík, which I recommend. Or rent a car—it seemed pretty easy to drive. Totally worth it to get out and about. I did the Snaelfessness (sp?) peninsula, which was a hike but was much less touristy. Definitely recommended. When do you leave?
@mirabelle33 I have no idea about the water intake, never heard of that! But I hope the SA yields some helpful info!
@drewsdarlin Welcome! I’m so sorry to hear about all of your struggles.
*TW — BFP and losses*
AFM I broke down and tested on Tuesday night (my beta is not until Saturday, so I was 6DP5DT) because I was having some cramping and I just needed to know. It was a fairly strong BFP. I’m not celebrating yet because of our history of CPs despite promising HPTs and betas, but I would be lying if I didn’t say I was happy to see it. Since we’ve always failed at our second beta, getting past Monday will be a huge hurtle. I remain....dubious? Cautiously optimistic? We’ll go with cautiously optimistic. :-)
Fingers crossed for u this month @drewsdarlin.
Afm I'm taking a long time to respond to the drugs as per usual. Bloods yesterday on CD18 should nothing, FX for a good response tomorrow.
Anyone else constantly being told by everyone that "it's all progress" given the exact same thing is happening every month I think I might have a different definition of progress to all my friends and family

We spent right up until the day before trigger being told we would most likely be cancelled - and then suddenly all go and needed to totally rearrange everything. At the last minute the airport was closed for the whole day which made flying out for ER far more stressful than necessary.
In the end they retrieved four eggs which was our best ever result - BUT! None were mature! Whether we triggered too early or they were overlooked we are not sure. Two matured in a special medium overnight and one fertilized normally with ICSI on day 1. Today was its day 2 and it was already six cells. We’re nervously awaiting tomorrow to hear if it made it to freeze.
To top it all off even though I have DOR, only a few follicles and am a poor responder I managed to end up with OHSS. This is a really cruel joke. DH says I look like the Michelen man from Ghostbusters, in case you need an image...
I’m already back priming, and we will do baseline on CD2 to decide if we go true back to back for the next cycle or take a month’s break. And in the meantime I will just be an estrogen zombie...
QOTW I am addicted to pomelos
@bababatty oh wow! I have everything crossed!
@mirabelle33 it’s cute your DH was so proud for drinking so much water. Bless him. Fx next Wednesday brings good news.
@mighty-mouse hope today’s bloodwork showed some movement
@christenma83 how did the appointment go? And sorry about your DH, that’s no fun. My DH needs a surgery this month to repair not one but two hernias... because of course he’s put off going to the doctor for years and they now got too big and cause him trouble...

Hi folks - I just wanted to say I think I officially consider myself "graduated" from T-TTC. For those who don't know, DH and I have been TTC for over 2 years with no results. We had unexplained IF and I had a low AMH result (low ovarian reserve) so our RE did not want to give me any medications or try IUI because he wanted to ensure quality eggs would be available for IVF. (Also no benefit for cleaning sperm because DH had above avg SA results). We were put on a wait list for our provincially funded IVF program. While waiting we had our miracle - a BFP 4 weeks ago. I couldn't believe we conceived naturally after so many months and I didn't think it was even possible at this point (quite honestly, I had pretty much given up hope). I had a dating ultrasound last week and got to see the little bean and the heart beating. I cried. I am still leary of potential loss but I was 9 weeks yesterday so the chances I will be a mom are getting better each day. This will be my last post here (if all continues to go well) because I know how hard it can be to hear about others' pregnancies - I've been there many times. I'm part of the Jan BMB or please msg me any time.
*** end TW ***
I've said this before but I want to say it again. Don't give up hope! There's always a chance and one way or another I believe you will all have your chance to be mothers. The paths will all be different but it will happen. I'll be lurking here hoping for you all.

@emmasemm I'm sorry you didn't get more viable eggs after all that stress. FX you get good news today and are good to continue with the next cycle. Hope you are starting to feel a bit better
7 medicated cycles (see above) = BFN
And, of course, most importantly - a BFP?! GREAT NEWS!!! I'd be apprehensive if I had your history too, but I'm really hoping that this one is THE ONE for you! xoxoxo
@drewsdarlin - welcome. Sounds like you have had a rough journey. Are you considering IVF?
@mirabelle33 - I'm keeping FX for your appointment on Wednesday. Keep us posted!
@mighty-mouse - yeah, I mean, on a good day, I agree with the doctors. Every procedure we do gives us another insight into what actually might be causing this. But on a bad day, I'm just like: "I don't care what the cause is. Are you ever going to fix it?" There's a reason the word is "patient" - all of this tests my patience more than it has ever been tested!
I'm so sorry this cycle didn't work out. Ugh.
@emmasemm - OMG, I am so so sorry! So stressful! Keeping FX for your embryo, and really sorry about the OHSS. I didn't think women with DOR could develop OHSS? That is really cruel! Hand in there!!
Good luck with the priming! Hang in there!
@kiwieloping - congratulations!
AFM: AF did arrive - late, but still. I've been working on mentally and financially preparing for another round of IVF for a while now, so those preparations are kicking into high gear. Not sure how those conversations go for others, but for DH and I, it hasn't been a sure thing that we'd do another round. DH is very much of the: "I love you, and I love our life, and if we don't have children, that's fine." school. Which on the one hand, makes me feel very loved. But on the other hand, it means that I'm the one who is pushing to do another round and spend the money and take the drugs. We always have the: "when do we stop trying?" question looming. He's feeling like we've done a lot already, which we have. And I'm just not ready to stop trying yet.
QOTW: Summer peaches. I can't eat too many - sometimes the fuzz makes my lips itchy, if I eat like three in a row. But I love a perfectly ripe summer peach.
I guess yes, for some women, the chances of IVF working are low. But they are still usually higher than the chances of conceiving on your own, depending on your diagnosis. It seems to me that couples with mild MFI (just a mildly low count) or anovulation seem to do best with medicated IUIs. Like, if the anovulation can be corrected, that procedure seems to work.
For others though - couples with DOR, or unexplained (like me) IVF can be helpful. For us, we don't know that IVF will work - just because we don't know what is causing our infertility - but we're going to do genetic testing on our embryos this time. For a lot of women, the cause of failed implantation or recurrent miscarriage is actually because of the embryo quality, so if we can figure out whether or not we are producing genetically "normal" embryos, that will help.
I know sometimes women have testing after their MCs and can determine whether or not the MC was caused by a genetic abnormality in the pregnancy. I was wondering if you'd done this?
IF is the pits. Sorry you find yourself here.
