Food Recalls/ Contamination

All, I just saw this article and wanted to share. The CDC has issued a recall in 8 states for precut melon and fruit salads containing melon, because of a possible salmonella outbreak.

I wasn't sure where to put this, so I thought it might be helpful to create a consolidated thread to share info on these sorts of food recalls in the future.

Of course I just bought and ate a giant thing of watermelon. Gonna have to read the recall now.

How does that contamination even happen?? I get produce, meat, etc... But shelf stable dry cereal?

Right?! I saw it on the news today ironically in the waiting room at my OBGYN’s office. It also showed pre-cut fruits like watermelon purchased from Costco/Trader Joe’s...I basically thought, “okay sooo what can we eat? Esp pregnant mothers right now.”

Not risking it!

You guysssss. Goldfish crackers recalled for potential salmonella!!! Only certain kinds though. Same w certain Ritz crackers. I know my toddler loves her goldfish crackers (the baby kind which thankfully wasn’t on the list).

@AliKay20 I saw that and got so sad. Good thing the kinds affected aren’t ones I get, but still worrisome!

@AliKay20 I had no idea about this recall! Luckily the bag of goldfish I just bought wasn't included in the recall, but I'm so glad you posted about it.

Vanilla almond breeze recalled. But it is just because it may contain cow's milk (not sure how that would happen?) and they say it is safe unless you have a milk allergy/sensitivity. https://www.cnn.com/2018/08/03/health/hood-vanilla-almond-milk-recall-fda/index.html

Ritz cracker sandwiches were also recalled from salmonella about the same time as Goldfish.

Not really a recall, but I’ve seen a bunch about people getting sick from McDonald’s salads.
