The ol' gag reflex was feeling sensitive earlier this week, so I just didn't brush my teeth all day Monday. Didn't use mouthwash either. #sexy

Ugh, on the dentist train - I was supposed to make an appointment in May and I still have the reminder card on my fridge but I've yet to call. I actually like going to the dentist (is that a FFFC in and of itself?) but I have had SO many doctor's appointments between my OB, my endocrinologist and now a physical with my regular doctor that I am burned out!
Count me in on the dentist guilt too. I have had so many medical appointments and it is so hard to take more time off work.
Also, I am totally useless today at work. I’m sleep deprived because I’ve been up since 4 with a cranky kid, and no amount of caffeine is going to make me mentally sharp today. Certainly not the little bit I can choke down without gagging. Thankfully it’s slow and I had some cancellations today.
I haven’t gotten a haircut since before my daughter was born over a year ago. It’s ridiculous. And even though it’s driving me crazy I still can’t get my act together enough to actually make an appointment.
@maureenmce Probably an UO, for sure! I HATE the dentist!
I also go to bed without taking off my makeup or washing my face. I don't seem to get makeup stains or mascara on my pillow, and apparently I'm just super lazy. Klassy!
Ugh you are all reminding me I need to reschedule my dentist appt. My last one was during my terrible morning sickness period (the dark days) when just the thought of someone's fingers in my mouth made me gag. Actually it still kind of does...
Our friends wanted to come over tonight to bbq but our house is a mess and I'm exhausted so I made mh tell them no and blame the preganacy. I feel guilty but I don't think I could have been a pleasant host tonight.
I was supposed to go to the eye doctor 2 years ago and canceled it and now I keep putting it off. Pregnancy isn’t good for your vision, right? So I should just wait until next year...
Ugh, me #3 on the eye doctor. I have no idea if it's true or not, but I heard somewhere that some people's vision improves during pregnancy. My plan is to be one of those people, and no longer need glasses to drive at night
@Hollyyyyy I've never heard that before. I've worked at several eye doctors' offices (and I know we have one optometrist on here, so you can feel free to step in with your big time knowledge!) and have only ever seen people come in for worsened vision during pregnancy. Sometimes people even have special glasses that they only need during pregnancy!
+1 to needing a dentist appointment rill bad. Gah. I have meth teeth (not literally guys, just really really bad) and I try to stay on top of appointments after a disaster in college where I didn't go for a few years and had to have an extraction, a root canal, tons of fillings, and a second root canal later. My most recent appointment snuck up on me and I couldn't make it. This place is super busy and can either fit me in on a last-minute cancellation, which I can't exactly do because a toddler isn't coming with me to the office and I can't find a babysitter that fast, or schedule me several months out which again -- my teeth may crumble out of my mouth by then. Sigh. And now I just realized that I'll have to get a note from my OB to visit the dentist anyway. I'll be impressed if anyone actually made it to the end of this dentist sob story, ha.

Re: eyeballs I just read yesterday (in my outdated 2004) Mayo Clinic Guide to Pregnancy that pregnancy changes your eye pressure and can affect the cornea. Nothing pointed to better vision though. Personally I already wear glasses 100 percent when away from home, and now I am wearing them at home more often because I perceived an increased blur around week nine.
Re: dentists I super love going to the dentist, even if it's more than a cleaning. I just love my mouth feeling squeaky clean But! For you avoiders, and @PensiveCrayon (I'm cavity-prone myself and hate that) try out Crest's new Gum Detox line. I have gum issues and have been getting cleanings every 3 months, but this toothpaste improved my gums faster than all of the cleanings combined! My mind is seriously blown, and I am hyped to see my dentist next week and show her how the tooth paste REALLY improved my receding-for-no-reason gums. I was extra paranoid about pregnancy gingivitis, but now I'm down to a normal level of concern. Try it - it's pricey for toothpaste, but significantly cheaper than dental work (though I'm not saying it's equal or better than professionals of course).

@echo-charlietango Interesting, I certainly will check it out! I've been using Sensodyne Pronamel in combination with ACT pretty much since college when they told me I had no enamel. I think I have I now? I actually have no idea.
@katy0990 I have no blessed idea. Maybe to avoid liability? Like can't I just tell you I'm pregnant and you not give me x-rays? I just know that last time around I tried to go in without a note and they wouldn't see me.
I have a confession! I have a confession! I'm feeding my kid a Stouffer's microwave lasagne for supper tonight and I am not ashamed. It's got dairy, protein, veggies...a complete meal! The reason is that tonight is special and H and I will be making our special tuna salad sandwiches with Doritos. Last time I tried to give tuna to my kid he hated it, so I'm not even going to attempt it, especially because lunch was mostly just snacks at PT. He needs a good supper.

@PensiveCrayon That is so dumb that you need a note. Also, no judgement here on your LO’s dinner. I promised DS a surprise after nap. I planned to take him to the pool, but it stormed. So, when he woke up and asked for his surprise I gave him a drumstick ice cream cone. Pretty sure he won’t eat much dinner now, but oh well. You win some you lose some.
@echo-charlietango I had NO IDEA there was a toothpaste that could help with receding gums. Mine are pretty bad in several spots due to genetics, past braces, and jaw clenching but I've just been using sensodyne to help with the sensitivity.
@PensiveCrayon Girl, Stouffers lasagna is good. No shame at all.
Add me to the list of dentist and eye doctor appointments! Though maybe not so much the eye doctor after reading here that pregnancy can affect vision? I had glasses at one point in college, but after a couple years they were back to fine so I quit wearing the glasses. The last couple weeks I feel like my eyes have been straining, words are blurred on my computer at work, and I had to move closer to a wall at the St. Louis Arch to read the facts I really hope it's just a pregnancy thing, I know I'll have glasses eventually (everyone in my family does) but I don't want them right now!!
My FFC, I know we've (STM+ at least) have admitted to this in the past, but I totally had a glass of wine with dinner tonight. I did occasionally with DS, and since I'm 13w2d and I had my NT scan Tuesday and everything looked good, I was comfortable with it.
@CecilB93 I had a tiny glass of port last night, to celebrate cooking dinner DH has decided that it’s okay if I maybe have one half drink each week or so. I’m getting used to it, I know he just wants the best for LO

Thanks for the info on vision! I’ve been telling my husband I need to go to the eye doctor because it seems like lately it’s gotten just a little noticeably (sp?) worse. My vision is terrible to begin with. But now I will probably wait on it. Not trying to spend money on new glasses I don’t need.
@echo-charlietango I drank wine when I was pregnant with DS. Now that I'm out of first tri with this one I'm going to let myself enjoy a glass every now and then. Probably not even once a week since we didn't even drink wine that often before I was pregnant lol. I figure if my son was okay after 7.5 weeks of drinking hard liquor and wine (not together obviously...) often before finding out I was pregnant, a glass here and there of wine won't hurt.
My vision was definitely worse first time and add me to the “I haven’t seen a dentist in longer than I’m willing to admit to anyone but my spouse“ list... I have a phobia due to a terrible pediatric dentist. It sucks.
I’m excited to try that toothpaste @echo-charlietango!! Also- what kind of port? My family are all big port drinkers.
@hbmama21 It was a local port actually, bought from a nearby Missouri vintner. It’s not the best, I’ll admit, but it’s tasty and I like supporting local booze-makers It’s fruitier than I prefer, but that’s just because I love a good dry or semi-dry after dinner. *drools*

Add me to the list of needing to make an eye doctor appointment. I can't see more than a few inches in front of me without my contacts but I know I won't be able to wear them during labor so I need to get an updated prescription for glasses. I haven't bought glasses in 10 years because they are so expensive for my prescription. The glasses I wear only to bed now won't cut it in the hospital where I know I will want to see everything, not to mention they are lopsided from falling asleep with them on often

I wore my contacts with both of my ds’s births. You may be alright.
@Activebaby that makes me feel better! I was hoping what I was reading was implying only no contacts if you ended up having a C-section but I wasn't sure.
