Infertility

New here (Losses mentioned)

Hi I am new here. I am Janetta. 41 years old. Married to my husband for almost 19 years and trying to have a baby that long. Got married October 23, 99 and pregnant 1st time Feb 2000 and tested end of Feb when I was throwing up while out of town for grandmother's funeral and m/c on March 1, 2000 at around 7 weeks. No pregnancy again until August 2002. Found out about that baby one day before hubby's birthday on September 29, 2002 when I took a home pregnancy test cause of feeling sick for weeks at same time every night. Then, m/c that baby on october 17, 2002 a few days before our anniversary that year. Then, got pregnant third time in May 2005 and found out about that baby on night of June 12, 2005 when I took a digital hpt after getting to cd40 something in cycle and then went to ER on June 14, 2005 when bleeding started. Had a bad experience with ER doctor that day. Then nothing happened for years even though we weren't preventing so in January 2010 first saw a RE and did testing on us and then preceded with IUI's and second IUI worked in April that year but ended in 4th m/c on May 12, 2010. took a few months off of the treatments and then more IUI's in 2010-11 and testing. and then did foster care classes in 2012 but that didn't work out after we finished the classes. Then, had 5th loss in 2015. Didn't even know I was pregnant that time until loss happened on March 23, 2015 and hcg from ob/gyn almost a month later confirmed it. Then, saw a new RE in 2016 and did more testing on me and found out some things that other RE didn't test for and stuff.

  • Hi, @drewsdarlin. I saw you also posted on the TTGP board. (It's okay to post your own intro on this IF board, but you'll want to post in the IF thread on the TTGP board instead of creating your own post. Each board has slightly different rules.) It sounds like you've been through quite a lot since your marriage. You mentioned that your RE "found out some things" in 2016. Where are you in your journey now? Are you planning to do an IUI or IVF?

We did 7 IUI's in 2010-11 and only one worked but ended in 4th loss. So we quit with fertility treatments since the new RE didn't give a good percentage to us in 2016 of IVF working and that is only option left that he recommended and insurance through hubby's work doesn't cover fertility stuff and it is expensive to pay all that and then not work or end in 6th loss which we couldn't handle.
  • @drewsdarlin I can certainly understand not wanting to move forward with further treatments after everything you've been through. However, this particular board on The Bump might not be your best option (nor will TTGP), since people on these boards are actively trying to get pregnant and using fertility treatments. What are you looking to get out of this site? Are you looking for grief support in the face of loss? If so, there may be another board on the website that will be better suited to your journey.

We are still trying to get pregnant by using ovulation kits and temping and things at home.
  • Oh, okay! Then maybe the TTGP board is the right place for you. If you are waiting to ovulate, you can check out the WTO threads. When you are in your two-week wait, you can post in TWW, etc. The vast majority of women on the IF board are actively pursuing fertility treatments with their RE.

  • Thank you. We did fertility treatments in 2010-11. IUI's and only second one worked of the 7 we did and ended in our 4th loss.
  • Hello ladies! I feel so sorry for what you had gone through. Coping with losses is very tough and painful. I had TTC for five times but at the end, It resulted in a miscarriage. I also had struggled a lot with you. Finally, I got alternative to have children. I had blessed with a child through surrogacy. Now I am so happy with my children. I hope best for you. I wish you will be a mom soon. Stay blessed
