HSG needed

My husband and I did our first IUI (intrauterine insemination) last month which unfortunately ended in a chemical pregnancy. Since we got pregnant with IUI, does that mean an HSG is not necessary?

*I know most get an HSG before IUI but this was not the case for me.

I believe the Fallopian tubes are needed with IUI
(intrauterine insemination) so I assume mine are ok since we did conceive? Thoughts?

Re: HSG needed

  • Ask your doctor. The HSG can show more than just tubes being open, like fibroids, polyps, scarring in the uterine lining, etc. You never know, you could only have 1 tube open...there's no telling. It's an easy dye test...I'd probably do it so could be 100% sure everything is ok. My gf had one done and found her tubes had scar tissue all over them from a surgery when she was a baby.
