@mag1cbeli3ver congratulations on second trimester and welcome.

How far along? 27 weeks tomorrow, this will be my last week on this board and I'll miss you guys until see you on 3rd tri board.  Next week I'll be heading over there.

Appts this coming week? Nutritionist appointment tomorrow. Want to talk to her about blood sugar it's been fine but now I'm starting to obsess since it's now time for baby to get bigger.  He is measuring 1 week and 3 days large.  One thing they said they will be watching for is him getting too big then I'd have to have a C section. I'm not too worried about a C section and just going to let what will be be. But it would be nice if I didn't have to. Although, it seems like there are silver linings to C-section also like one would be being able to schedule when I know I'm having the baby versus waiting for the surprise.

How're you feeling this week? I'm ok. I have really bad hip pain and I'm starting to think it's sciatica and/or from not  moving and walking much.  I usually ride my bike and walk and stretch regularly and can't because I have been told not to by my doctor.  Other issue is the baby kicks sometimes really low and tends to hurt if I have any stomach issues going on.  I've been laying down with my hips on a pillow to get him to move up a bit and seems to help but sometimes I get frustrated and it hurts.  The good news is everything is good with the cerclage and my cervix per last week so I try not to worry and think it is anything other than hard kicks and gas and bowl pain combo probably.

Rants/Raves:. I don't know if this is a separate topic but I had a hard weekend. I'm taking the day off from working today and resting and trying to be extra nice to myself.  More info below if interested in reading my rant.

My baby shower was on Saturday and it was perfectly nice and normal.  But I really didn't enjoy it.  I had anxiety for weeks ahead due to drama with my MIL and SIL.  As you all probably remember when I was about 15 weeks my SIL showed up pregnant at a restaurant and surprised me. She is due at same time as me and whole family had been keeping it from us. Then they pretended it wasn't happening for 2 hours even though she was visibly pregnant.  Well I thought about it long and hard and decided to invite them to my shower. My mil rsvp'd and helped get together others, came and was fine. She tried to invite more family members which was stupid and rude but we just said no and she didn't press it.  My SIL didn't RSVP until 3 days before saying she could only make it if her daughter's softball tournament was over.  Then we got a text from my MIL on her behalf at 9pm the night before the shower that the tournament ended and now she will come as long as she isn't feeling sick.  Well I was offended that her 8 year olds softball game was more important than the one baby shower I'll probably ever have in my life.  I felt like since she was already on such thin ice I gave her a chance to be polite and show up to support me.  She barely gave notice and it stressed me out very much because I was already so anxious to see her and my MIL.  I had a panic attack morning of shower and my husband and I decided the best thing to do is tell her not to come since she can't decide.  It wasn't fair to me to ruin my day by surprising me one way or the other.  My husband told her and last night told me the details of their conversation.  He said it made her cry which after all the tears she's caused me I don't feel sorry for her.  She doesn't understand still how showing up pregnant was so bad and 'sort of' apologized again- more tried to explain her side.  Then tried to explain her side on the shower too.  My husband asked her so you can sit in 100 degree weather for a softball game and not be sick but might be too sick for a 1.5 hour party? She tried to act like she was definitely coming and it's a misunderstanding.  It's all bullshit and I don't believe a word she says.  It's black and white, you said you would come only if a more important event, aka a softball game for an 8 yr old, was not a conflict.  From here I'm just not talking to them again.  Starting to look ahead to holidays and how to not have to see them.  So I've been very stressed by all this and just trying to wind down and get over it so I can have a better week now that it's over.  I have 2 more showers to go next weekend and 23rd.  But they are just friends and more removed family and casual brunches at restaurants. My husband is going to those and there will be no inlaws.  So I'm trying to be positive about those and hopefully enjoy them.

GTKY:  Do you have any (pregnancy/BR, or otherwise) favourite podcasts or YouTubers to recommend?  I don't yet but will be looking into recommendations others are watching. I hadn't thought of that. The minimalist one sounds good to me!

@wildrainbow. Oh, the joys.  That is me over here, too, with the poops for days.  I try to tell myself it's better than being constipated but.... ughh.  Over it.  Pregnancy is definitely weird and gross! Lol

@Dragonfly6191  CMA Fest sounds like so much fun!  I'm sure you'll have a blast, (even sober) Is that around where you live or will you have to travel far to Nashville?

@mag1cbeli3ver  Congratulations!!! and welcome to 2nd Trimester!  For a lot of people, it's easier than 1st Tri, symptom-wise, and energy-wise.  ...But don't be surprised if that's not exactly true for you, either.  For me personally, I am not really sure 100% of my energy ever came back, TBH.  Enjoy it!

@chicandbubbly  GL at Wednesday's scan!  Will be thinking of you.  And thanks for taking over the thread, too! ❤❤❤

@hottietoddy. That is one of my fears too, ever since that last mw planted the seed that baby might get, "too big," at my last apt.  Even though I haven't been given a GD dx (yet, knock wood), and I've passed the informal tests I've been giving myself at home.... (so far...)  Filing baby's size under things we really don't have much - if any - control over tho, especially with GD in the mix, too.  Fx everything turns out just fine, either way.  Congrats on making it to 3rd Tri!!! ❤
    *typos
  • @mag1cbeli3ver welcome! The not having to nap all the time feeling is great, isn’t it?

    @chicandbubbly good luck Wednesday!

@hottietoddy @BusinessWife How do they decide if a baby is getting too big? Just measuring ahead? Keeping fx for both of you, and congrats on 3rd tri!

you too @BusinessWife glad we are going over to 3rd tri together!  :)

@halfanewt I don't think they decide he's too big until closer to due date.  For now they said he is just measuring ahead and nothing that is statistically abnormal.  I think they just wait to see if he gets like really big, like numbers I have heard casually are like 9 and 10 lbs or something.  I asked if they start moving your due date up if he is measuring ahead....they said usually not.  I do just have to go with the flow.  With GD though, how I manage my blood sugar does affect how big he gets.  They said if I were to let my BS get high consistently he can just put on fat instead of developing his lungs. So just because the baby gets bigger doesn't mean he develops all correctly.  That's everything I know for sure....just have to do the best I can and go with the flow.  They plan to take cerclage out at 37 weeks.  The surgeon that will do it mentioned that I might plan on an earlier than 40 week delivery because of my GD which I think has to do with the planned size of the baby also.  37 weeks is only 10 weeks away! That makes me happy.
  • Hi ladies, 27+2, saw the MFM on Fri and babes was holding his legs in front of his face the whole time but we finally got a good shot.

Saw the OB today and found out I’m now anemic and I barely failed my GD test :/ OB took more blood to test my glucose & A1C before he recommends anything. While i do appreciate his laid back nature- my test was 2 weeks ago! This pg has been so smooth I’m worried that this is the start of things going downhill but trying not to let IF brain take over.

MFM is starting weekly NSTs in 7 weeks- that seems so soon- yahooooo!

@halfanewt I hadn't really been too concerned, baby was just measuring ahead at all the scans.  Even at 8 weeks when we graduated the RE, she called him/her "gigantic"!  My gigantic raspberry!  :D. This last time, at 23 weeks when she took my first fundal measurement she said it was big, and when I pressed, she said I was measuring 27.  I read something in passing that said that can be a predictor of GD, however I have tested myself at home three times so far, including once since then, and so far - knock wood - no gd.  I have also seen that it can also have more to do with physiology/ how high the uterus sits in your pelvis, it even baby's position!  So I'm not sure how much stock I'm personally going to take in her assessment.  We'll talk more as we get closer, but I went ahead and put down my deposit for my doula.  I feel like the midwives have been less than inspiring, so it will be great to have someone who's more on team #wecandothis than all gloom and doom. :/

@lablover78  keeping everything crossed for smooth sailing, still!  I think it's promising that maybe you only barely failed, as in almost passed!  Fx the other labs bring more insight... (((hugs)))

    *autocorrect is an idiot lol
  • adiratadirat member
@businesswife I feel like the blood tests you're doing at home are much more predictive than the fundal height. Fingers crossed for everyone to get through GD-free!

@lablover78 Hugs friend -- it's so hard not to get anxious after IF but I have everything crossed everything will be super smooth for you!

25w here, doing OK other than STILL sick and nauseous. I also need to do my GD test but I can't yet because I'm so barfy. So hopefully soon... Also waiting on my placenta check at 28w.

  • @BusinessWife I'm local to Nashville, so at least I'm on home turf it's just a crazy busy week for me! I'm really not complaining though, it's truly a lot of "first world problems" ( Like tomorrow night I have VIP passes to two BIG name pop-up shows but they are occurring simultaneously and at 10pm!). Every other year I'd be determined to make an appearance at both but at 21 weeks I'm kind of just like..ehhhhhhhhhhhh. :)

@halfanewt I'm so jealous (and proud!) of you for running at this stage. I was a marathon runner pre-pregnancy and so badly wanted to be one of those women that ran all the way up until delivery, but it just hasn't worked out for me. I kept getting put on activity restrictions due to hematomas so as hard as it was I eventually had to admit I just wasn't going to running at all this pregnancy. I've been trying to strength train as much as I can though since that's something I always neglected in favor of running when I could! Keep at it mama!

Personal update: My AS was originally scheduled for 19 weeks, but due to a bleed I was brought in at 18 weeks. My doctor told me after that US that I could cancel the AS as she had what she needed, but at my appointment yesterday the US tech told me I never really got a FULL AS and that it still needs to be done. Of course I enjoy any opportunity to look at my babies but I thought I'd already passed that hurdle :(

    1st cycle of IVF started April 9, 2017. ER- 15R, 7M, 5F, 4 frozen, 1 transferred. BFN

    May 2017- Hysteroscopy

June-August 2017- 2nd attempt via FET. 2 Embryos transferred on 08/10/17. BFP, but ended in a chemical.

    November 2017- Hysteroscopy

    January 2018- 3rd attempt via FET. 2 Embryos transferred on 01/25/18. BOLD BFP on a HPT on 1/31, Beta # 1 on 2/5= 721. Beta # 2 on 2/7- 1903. 6wk+3 day scan revealed twins!

    I'm blogging about it here

@lablover78 try not too worry too much, both of those things are very easy fixes and aren't anything that is going to 'ruin' things. Not to discount how you feel, because I know it is scary and just more to deal with. I complain about GD a lot and it isn't fun, but it isn't the worst thing in the world and not concerning too much for the baby as long as you catch it and then take care of it.  Sounds like your numbers weren't too far off either which is good!  I would push your doctor for some results though and an action plan, 2 weeks is a while to wait.  Especially as we are starting to count down the weeks it seems!  :)  As I understand it is the same with being anemic.  I have been on extra iron pills from the beginning and could make you more constipated, but can take benefiber and other stuff.  Don't let that IF brain make you think it is going downhill, it is more like a couple bumps in an uphill road!  I guess I haven't had the easiest pregnancy, since having to have surgery for cerclage, it makes me feel like these other things are much easier than a lot of issues that could come up.  To be honest, I haven't really minded the GD diet restrictions too much.  Because I have PCOS I think that this diet is the one I will most likely stick to for the rest of my life so I am just happy that I finally found how I am supposed to eat for my body. Hopefully it can help me with hormone imbalances even after I am pregnant as well. The silver lining is the diet has really made it pretty easy for me to control my weight while pregnant.  I've only gained about 5 lbs.

@Dragonfly6191 Another AS is probably a good thing and a US tech who is wanting to do more than less is always a good thing!  If it wasn't for my US tech going the exra mile and doing a vaginal US to check my cervix, it may not have been caught in time for a cerclage.  I know the AS is very stressfull but try and think of the positives like the baby is getting checked out very thoroughly and then they can see anything early on.  Or it all may be 100% perfect and then you can know an relax a bit.   Also, I have closed my eyes and just not looked for a few of the AS checks.  My US tech and also the high risk doctor seem to do them often.  The high risk doctor US is extremely detailed and I just allow myself to not have to be happy and enjoy the whole thing.  I'd rather not watch all the details sometimes and just know all is well. That is another coping mechanism I've come up with.
  • Thanks @hottietoddy you’re right! Thanks for that perspective.

  • How far along?

    15 weeks!

    Appts this coming week?

I had one Monday- everything looks great and it’s a BOY ☺️

    How're you feeling this week?

I think I’m finally getting a little better- yay second tri!

    Rants/Raves:

Struggling to find maternity clothes to try on in store. Online is great but sizing is all over the place/

GTKY:  Do you have any (pregnancy/BR, or otherwise) favourite podcasts or YouTubers to recommend?

    I love Awesome Etiquette ☺️
  • Congrats on Team Blue! @eabrahamson. I started out buying mostly just tops online, which wasn't too bad, and then tried ordering some pants, but I also had to send quite a few backnthat didnt work.  Later on, I also went to a Destination Maternity store to try things on, but it was really more valuable for exchanging sizes in store, imho, than anything else, since the selection was also a bit limited.

    Hi ladies,

I don't have a board to post, since no one took over the 1st trimester board. I am 13 weeks and would like to ask a question. Has any of you dealt with placenta previa? I was just told on monday that I have it and it most likely resolve itself. The reason I went to the doctor was that I have been having mild/moderate short cramps and dark brown spotting. I am trying to be positive since I still have a lot of time, but it still worries me. I wanted to see if anyone of you had that issue and  want to share your experience... Thank you!!!
  • @Ilky I had previa with ds, they found it at 14 weeks and by 28 weeks it resolved. It is a little scary, but they mostly resolve on their own. Try not to stress to much, which I know is easier said than done.
  • adiratadirat member
@ilky Hi! I have a partial placenta previa, which was diagnosed at my anatomy scan. My doctor told me that most of the time, it resolves on its own. I have another scan at 28 weeks to check again. She told me to avoid  travel and high-intensity exercise in third tri if it does not resolve, and of course, if it never resolves, I would be looking at a c-section :( I'm really hoping it will resolve -- and most of the time it does!

  • IlkyIlky member
@wildrainbow @adirat thank you ladies! Do you / did you have any cramping or spotting? Based on my research looks like its not common to have these symptoms and I am worried maybe they are caused by my anterior but growing (3") fibroid. Or something else that they are not finding.
@adirat I hope yours will resolve on its own very soon!
  • adiratadirat member
@ilky I had quite a bit of spotting in first tri, including an SCH, but I haven't had any spotting since my anatomy scan at 20w where they diagnosed the previa. That said, my doctor warned me that spotting is very common with previa and if I have spotting -- her example was if I have spotting with sex -- I should stop that activity. I don't have fibroids so I don't know how that interacts with the placenta, sorry :( Have you asked your doctor if your level of spotting is normal?

  • IlkyIlky member
@adirat I saw the PA that day and she didn't seem concerned about anything (previa or fibroid). She just wanted to put me on progesterone suppositories to stop spotting which I refused since it is not an active bleeding (its brown). Sometimes I feel like I have to take charge of everything bc doctors (some) are not fully invested in your well being. And, that just add more stress to life.
  • @Ilky  GL with everything!  While it's not something I have personal experience with, thanks for popping over to ask...

Also, please know that anyone can start the 1st Tri thread.  It doesn't have to be a whole formal thing.  I think it's only pretty recently that its been done more formally with everyone's edds and all, more like the 2nd and 3rd tris.  But of course, you will be here literally any minute anyway!  :D So WELCOME!!!
  • IlkyIlky member
@BusinessWife thank you! yes, I was planning/hoping to join you guys next week.  <3
  • @Ilky I didn't have any spotting, but was warned it was a possibility. I did have cramping, but it was more associated to BH. Are you drinking enough water? Cramping is often a sign of not having enough water. Just remember you need to almost double what you drink before you were pg.
  • @Dragonfly6191 marathons? you’ve got me beat! I was starting to train for my first half, then IVF kicked my butt so we downgraded to a 5k, lol. I’ll definitely be running as long as I can, though. Strength training is not my fav, either, so good for you!

@lablover78 @BusinessWife thanks for the explanations! Baby was measuring big at the AS, but no one seemed concerned. Cue my curiousity... keeping FX for both of you for no GD!
  • @BusinessWife how amazing!!! What a great milestone to witness!
