@mother_of_cats wonderful news! Thoughts continue with you as you progress. I had a "high nuchal result" for Down's Syndrome with my first, which sent me into a tail spin thinking of the possibilities. At the time they had just come out with the test we now call the NIPT. I took it, and found out we had no trisomies and of course now she's a happy and healthy 5 year old. I've also avoided NT tests ever since, but I understand why it's still used.
@MouseMama817 while I do trust the NIPT results early on, I'm just excited to see the baby at the anatomy scan (which I scheduled for 20 weeks, I'm only 14w 3d now). I have also met another mother who had gotten an incorrect call on the gender with the NIPT during her third pregnancy. It said she had a boy, but the baby turned out to be a girl. So, that being said, knowing I have DNA from a couple other babies in my blood, I think it's possible that we'll find out the baby's a boy even though the NIPT said it was a girl (my previous two are girls).
Unfortunately, my early glucose test came back 139, so I have to go take the 3 hour glucose test to confirm if I have gestational diabetes. Here's hoping it's not, but at least I know there are decent treatment options available.
@mother_of_cats that's amazing news! We had an elevated NT measurement too and we were told it could be nothing or it could be a heart defect after the NIPT came back clean. We're playing the waiting game until the anatomy scan/fetal echocardiogram to rule that out as the cause for our little guy. If you need to talk, you know where to find me.
@mother_of_cats thank you so much for updating. I haven’t been able to get on all day but have been thinking of you. I am so happy to read your update and am excited to hear you are cautiously optimistic.
@mother_of_cats So happy to hear your update! Please keep us updated when you get your karyotyping results.
I just posted a pic from my anatomy scan in the new ultrasound thread (that will probably never, ever get stickied). The scan went so well, but they said the baby's head was measuring on a bigger growth curve than the limbs, which could possibly be a marker for downs syndrome. That said, DD has had a huge head since birth (her head is in the 97th percentile but her height/weight is in the 30th), so we really aren't concerned about it at all. We didn't do any of the early testing, and they offered us some testing now but we declined. We're doing another scan in 5 weeks to make sure the head and limbs are all growing according to their respective growth curves.
I'm just so relieved and so so happy!
@middleschoolmommy They didn't say anything about it being too early, so I think you should be fine with your scheduled appointment.
