How far along? 25+1

Appts this coming week? Nope! Not till 28 weeks for my GD test and all the bw. Then we will go up to every 2 weeks, and I'll be getting my rhogam shot at 30 weeks. I feel like it's going to start flying by!

[ETA I did another informal GD test at home tho yeaterday, with a big bowl of blueberry oatmeal, and I passed! Back down to 102 at exactly 1 hour. Yay! So far, so good...]

How're you feeling this week? Not too bad. I'm glad the wrist brace seems to be helping my hand not fall asleep in the MOTN, but my thumb is still a bit sore where I broke it backnof university.:/ and lat night, my left was starting to fall asleep! So I might end up needing braces for both hands...

Other than that, it's all just starting tonfeel very real. We made some good progress in moving the rooms around yesterday, clearing off a bunch of shelves and getting our clothes pretty muxh consolidated into our new room across the hall. Still more for me to do today, and I'm hoping DH will bring home a couple bags so we can get the spare twin bed stored, and our bed moved across the hall. Next big thing is getting the guest bed moved across into our old room, then the rest will be cleaning and finishing touches. So that will be a huge relief!

GTKY: gimme all the burgers, please!!! I am a sucker for a good onion roll, too, with mushrooms, oniins, and cheese - but good Swiss or cheddar, not the fake cheese at the fast food places. I also love me some chicken, and DH makes a mean chili dog, but none of that feels as indulgent as a loaded, juicy burger. Love it. Can you tell I might be hungry?? Lol

For salads, I love to bring tabouli, or else a nice light pasta salad with lots of veggies and nice flavour. I never use bottled dressing, so it's fun for me to pair just the right oil and vinegar so it tastes just right. ;) I've also been meaning to try this watermelon, lime, mint salad recipe, seasoned with fish oil(!?) someone was telling me about in the grocery store! I can't seem to find it exactly anywhere, so it might turn into a bit of an experiment... I did find a couple asian-inspired ones with similar ingredients...

https://www.worthypause.com/blog/2017/5/thai-watermelon-salad-recipe-paleo

But this one sweet at spicy one sounds amazing tho! Much more complex than the one I was thinking of, but wow!

Now if I just had a watermelon...

Hope everyone is enjoying their holiday!!! ❤

Appts this coming week? I'm waiting on a call back from MFM. This means I could be going this week or next as my dr is wanting me to get in asap. It sucks that I have to travel over an hour just to see them.

How're you feeling this week? I'm ok. Feeling a lot more movements, which makes my heart happy. Baby boy is a wiggle worm. I'm slowly getting my energy back, which makes my toddler happy.

GTKY: Grilling season is upon us! Do you go for the burgers, hotdogs, or grilled chicken? What's your favourite salad / side to bring to an outdoor party? Summer recipes welcome!

I will eat hamburger or grilled chicken indiscriminately. I hate hotdogs, so I will go without or bring my own food if that is all that is offered. As far as sides, I like doing a pasta salad with feta cheese, or just some Mac and cheese. Since our outdoor gatherings feature a lot of ppl/families, I go for easy, kid friendly sides.

@BusinessWife That sweet heat watermelon salad looks super yummy. Also, I never thought we would get a chance to have another kid as our first was such a miracle that I thought I only got the one. That being said, I hope things stay smooth for you and hopefully future pregnancies come without too much difficulty.

@lablover78. Ooh! That avocado black bean salad looks right up my alley! And I'm sorry the chick at the salon made you feel self-conscious. I have been feeling the same way this weekend tho. I look down and like, omg, I have this huge belly... and **spoiler alert** it's going to get way bigger before all is said and done. Like, HOW??? I shudder to think a little bit how much bigger I'm going to feel 12 weeks from now... lol. But it's pretty cool at the same time.

Appts this coming week?
Nothing ‘til mid june, kinda nice

How're you feeling this week?
Feeling good physically, though it just finally got uncomfortable to lay on my belly. This is my go-to hangout position, so not sure how that will play out in the coming months, lol.

Had a long weekend so I’ve been visiting friends, which has been great. Not looking forward to work tomorrow since a few people cornered me Friday to ask if I was pg. I mean, it’s nice that you care enough to be interested, but seriously? If I haven’t shared, it’s for a reason, folks...

Burgers and hotdogs, please! I’ve had one too many adventures with undercooked grilled chicken *shudder*
I tend to being either potato salad or things for strawberry shortcake. Mmm.

Hi All, hope everyone had a wonderful long weekend!

25+1, feeling pretty good! In the last week or so I've started feeling the baby more consistently, so that's been fun! And DH felt it for the first time on Sunday  No appointments for me this week!

I LOVE barbeques and definitely could eat like, 4 or 5 hot dogs! I also love to make all kinds of pasta or potato salads, especially German style potato salad with lots of mustard.

I'm having a bit of a struggle emotionally and need to vent, or I guess look for advice or commiseration. There is a couple in our friend group (W & A) that just got engaged last weekend and the wife A has been very vocal about needing to have a child before 30 (she's 28.5). They are essentially having a shotgun wedding so that she can get pregnant right away, and the wedding is 5 days after my due date. They asked my husband to be a groomsman and he was like "I don't really know, I need to see". DH's best friend J (we're really close with he and his wife E, we're godparents to one of their kids) was essentially trying to pressure/guilt trip DH into saying yes, and didn't see what the big deal was. J was saying that E didn't need him at all, wouldn't have cared if he went to a wedding when she had a 5 day old baby at home, etc. etc. I really don't consider myself to be a nag of a wife or anything, and it would make me really sad if DH had to miss the wedding of one of his best friend's so I'm not going to flat out say "no you can't go". But of course I'm also worried....if I have the baby by then, what if I'm not able to figure out how to pump and I get frustrated and upset (this is honestly one of my biggest fears...I have no experience with children at all, have never changed a diaper and I know BF/pumping isn't easy)? If I haven't had the baby yet, what if I go into labor the night of the wedding and he's drunk an hour away and I have to Uber to the hospital by myself? And aside from all these issues, I guess it's just the feeling of being left out. I thought being pregnant and having a baby was going to make me feel more included with J and E, who have kids, or with other couples in the group that are baby crazy and can't wait to have kids. But instead I just feel isolated that I obviously won't be attending the wedding or the bachelorette and I just worry I'll won't be invited to social events anymore because there's been lots of stuff over the years I haven't been included in and it will only be worse when I have a baby to take care of.

If any of you got to the end of that super long rant, thanks for reading! I hope being back at work this week will help because I was basically crying all day yesterday and DH doesn't understand how I feel.

Appts this coming week? I have an OB appt this afternoon...always such a quick appt because I never have any questions LOL! :D

How're you feeling this week? Feeling pretty good- baby girl has been kicking much much stronger these last few days and I can feel where she is more in my belly. We (and by we I mean my husband and Dad lol) painted the nursery yesterday and hung up the curtains so it's starting to come together and that is exciting!

I had a weird vision thing (I think it was an ocular migraine) on Saturday and had blurry vision with weird lights and things for about 45 mins. I have had these vision things twice before but normally an actual migraine follows- this time it was just the vision issues- so freaky!

It's my last three days of work before I officially am a SAHM and I couldn't be happier!

GTKY: Grilling season is upon us! Do you go for the burgers, hotdogs, or grilled chicken? What's your favourite salad / side to bring to an outdoor party? Summer recipes welcome!

I love most BBQ things- typically I would go for a cheeseburger! Yesterday I had a huge craving for hot dogs and had them for lunch and dinner lol. I love bringing a tomato-mozzarella (Caprese) salad with balsamic as my go-to or a fruit salad. This weekend I made triple berry pie and it was AMAZING and looked super festive too. https://therecipecritic.com/triple-berry-pie/

@sarzee2 sorry you are stressing out about the wedding.. it's hard when you don't know what will be happening during that time!! Is the wedding nearby where you live? If so, maybe DH can just stop by for a little bit- and not be in the wedding party but go so he can see the ceremony. And if you want to be included in some of the wedding events, you could attend the bridal shower or even parts of the bachelorette party. I went to a bachelorette while I was pregnant with my son and while it wasn't that fun- I was glad I went to at least a few parts of it to celebrate my friend.

I have a wedding dilemma too- my sister in law has her wedding a week before my due date so I will either be 39 weeks pregnant and huge or have a newborn! It's a little different since it's family so unless I am in labor I am planning on attending at least for some of it LOL. Thankfully the venue is about 5 mins from my house, but since I am a huge planner I don't like not knowing if I will be pregnant or have a baby so it's a little stressful. Also- how ridiculous of a story would it be if my water broke at her wedding! :# Haha.

@sarzee2 I am right there with you with having exactly zero experience with newborns (I haven't even babysat an infant since I was like 15 years old, and he was 6 or 7 months) so I'm terrified. I'm also really lenient on my husband when it comes to him doing things without me now that I want to spend most of my time at home with my feet up, but this wedding is a few days after you're due, so there's also the chance that you could go late and you'll be in labor.

I think the respectful thing to do for both them and you is to not commit to being a part of the wedding party. Maybe say that he will attend the ceremony and reception if he's able to but that expecting him to being in the actual party is tough, because if you're in labor or might go into labor and he can't go, they'll end up being super pissed because it upsets the balance. Know what I mean? I think he could gently explain that he wants to give them a firm answer because they need to make plans and since everything is so up in the air, the only genuinely nice thing to do is not be in the wedding party so they can make other arrangements. And also, just because J said E didn't need him doesn't mean dick in the relative scheme of things. You could have labor complications, or the baby might need some extra time getting used to feeding, and whoopee for E that she was Superwoman but don't hold yourself to that standard or feel guilty for wanting the support.

How far along? 26 weeks 5 days - last week in the 2nd tri!
Appts this coming week? Nothing until my GD test next week. Super nervous :(

How're you feeling this week? Fat LOL. Deep breaths have gotten to be a little strained - my belly is pretty high up - and heat-related swelling of hands and feet is making its presence known. DH and I were at a garden center picking out veggie plants yesterday and it was in the low 80s and humid as hell and I went to close my fist and it felt like I was wearing a baseball glove. I looked down and my fingers looked like sausages. Once I got home and into the a/c the swelling went down. I took off my sneakers and socks and you could see every outline of my socks, too. Cute! Also having a hard time digesting. Everything seems like it's slowing down and if I eat anywhere past 7, I can't comfortably lie down to sleep because I'm so distended and gassy. I can't even burp unless I'm fully sitting up (and I burp a lot). I ate earlier last night and had a smaller meal which meant I was starving by the time I went to bed but I slept a little better and wasn't so burpy and acid refluxy.

GTKY: Grilling season is upon us! Do you go for the burgers, hotdogs, or grilled chicken? What's your favourite salad / side to bring to an outdoor party? I am usually a hot dog girl, but really only if it's a particular kind. I'm from Rochester, NY, home of Zweigle's brand hot dogs, which are super regional and not really sold outside the state as far as I know. They make white hot dogs, which I think are supposed to be akin to Weisswurst, and they are stupid good with yellow mustard. I think Ballpark franks are grotesque. If it's a lame hot dog like Ballpark, I'll choose a burger. I'm with @halfanewt and the chicken. If it's ever cooked all the way through it's dry as a bone :) I love bringing fruit salad. It's always a crowd pleaser and even vegans can eat it, plus it requires no recipe. Win-win!

@chicandbubbly @sarcasticowl thanks for your words of support! Yeah, I definitely don't see him being able to be a groomsman, both for their sake and for us (I don't want him to spend like $200 renting a tux he'll never wear), but I can tell he really wants to go to the wedding and be able to drink and enjoy himself. The venue is only about an hour away (not sure where exactly, I think he'd need to Uber to public transportation), but I think he'd be more miserable just going to the ceremony and then coming home, versus staying and getting wasted with his friends (I know that sounds bad, but we're just a drinking group of people) Especially with his friend goading him on, it makes me feel like I'm already being mom shamed or wife shamed or something...like I have to be physically fine and emotionally fine for him to just leave, I have to effortlessly be able to change a diaper and soothe a newborn and pump and everything with zero experience.

@sarzee2 I think pregnancy itself is a little isolating and has made me feel insecure as well. Even though all my friends are already moms and I have been waiting for this for years - I still have that left out feeling at tones which has surprised me. I don’t think it will impact your friendships in the long run- at least the ones that matter! I think it’s shitty and I would be s little upset if someone expected my H to be in a wedding that close to my DD

@halfanewt. Yay!!! for no appointments for a while!

@sarzee2. I'm sorry. That does sound frustrating, and like J is being pretty dismissive of your feelings. I mean really, what an ass. You're going to just assume that bc your wife told you she was "fine," that someone else's will also obviously be "fine" with xyz situation? Let alone one that's as big of a deal as having your first child!?!??

Honestly, I would ask his to say something like, as nuch as we would both like to attend, I am not sure I feel comfortable commuting to the responsibility of acting as best man. I would love to, but I don't want to leave you hanging, and if my wife and the baby need me, that's where I'm going to have to be. I know you don't want to tell him he, "can't" but I mean, the timing is pretty awful to make a commitment like that, imho. If you can get a baby sitter and you both feel up to attending and getting out of the house, wonderful! But if you can just play it by ear like that, hard as that sometimes is for weddings, it also sends a message from him to the couple, that it is important that they still include you going forward. :/ (((hugs)))

How far along? 26 weeks yay! I guess last week of first trimester. I start each week on a Tuesday so does that mean I move to third trimester next week on Tues/ week 27?

Appts this coming week? Sono at regular OB Thursday. Nervous because I'm going alone but feeling confident. I have been eating well and taking it very easy.

@sarzee2 - sorry your friend is being a dick. He sounds immature and like he might not understand how challenging pregnancy can be for some women. Sound like his wife maybe had it easy and COULD afford to let him go out without her. Go with your gut on this one for sure and don't let them pressure you into something uncomfortable. Like I was saying last week I freaked out when my husband was out a few weeks ago. If he does go maybe set a clear time limit, number of drinks, make sure you have a backup phone and someone stays with you while he's out just in case. Those are my ideas. If he can go at least for the wedding part then maybe your friends will see you made effort. I definitely don't think he should be in wedding though. If they don't understand can he privately explain to the guy being pushy how much stress it took to get you here and the challenges you are facing as a couple? Maybe a serious conversation will help him realize this isn't something to F around with like he is.

I agree with @lablover78 that pregnancy is isolating. I've been concerned even asking friends and family to showers because I feel I've been MIA in so many relationships the past year and a half dealing with IF then being pregnant.

My best friend had placenta previa and had to bow out of being my maid of honor half way through my wedding planning. It sucked at the time and I didn't fully understand, but I didn't pressure her. She was a maybe even to attend, but did make it for ceremony and dinner. We had them give her a shout out during ceremony.

GTKY: Grilling season is upon us! Do you go for the burgers, hotdogs, or grilled chicken? What's your favourite salad / side to bring to an outdoor party? Summer recipes welcome!

We just made burgers on the grill on Monday. Just my husband and I celebrated memorial day quietly together. I love potato salad but man it is hard work. I was proud of us, working as a team he and I got it done without me over doing it. Heavy cooking while on home rest is challenging. The next thing I want to grill is salmon. I've never liked salmon so much as when pregnant!

Congratulations @eabrahamson !!! And welcome to 2nd Tri! Hope some of your symptoms subside a bit in the coming weeks...

@hottietoddy 3rd Tri starts somewhere around week 27 or week 28, depending on who you ask. I think mostly people have been waiting till week 28, or else taking week 27 as a farewell/intro week to skirt both threads. ;) whatever feels right for you! So exciting!

Also, might as well put it out there... this weekend will be week 26 for me, as well. Followed quickly by week 27, and moving onto 3rd Tri before I know it!

So if anyone wants to take over starting up the thread any time over the next couple weeks, please, by all means, do speak up! I have been starting the thread for a while now, but I don't see why anyone need feel obligated to keep starting it throughout their entire stay here, either, if anyone feels compelled to share the fun!

How're you feeling this week? I still feel pretty good. I have had an upset stomach the past few mornings, but I can't tell if it's pregnancy heartburn, work anxiety, or just the result of having houseguests and eating a lot of fatty food. Whoops.
GTKY: Grilling season is upon us! Do you go for the burgers, hotdogs, or grilled chicken? What's your favourite salad / side to bring to an outdoor party? Summer recipes welcome!
I like all of it. My husband actually makes some delicious chicken thighs, not dried out at all. I like to bring German style potato salad or broccoli salad, which is just steamed for 5 mins and dressed with hot pepper flakes and lemon vinaigrette.

@lablover78, glad you like the Hofish bras! I ended up liking them, too. The liners that came with were super bumpy, but I just switched them out for others.

@sarzee2, I agree with others that he probably shouldn't be in the wedding party. It sounded like a good idea to have someone home with you if he is going to go. But really, they should be OK with you guys playing it by ear, or even with you both deciding that he should just stay home. A wedding is a big life event, but so is having a baby!!

I am also going back and forth about a wedding 3 weeks before my due date. It's a 5 or 5.5 hr drive away, and it's my husband's good friend since preschool. I think I am out personally, I'd just be afraid of going into early labor and being so many hours away from my hospital. But we can't decide if my husband should go. I am leaning toward yes at this point, unless I am having complications. But that's much different than 5 days after your due date!
