Hi I’m Netta. Husband and I have been married four years, ttc almost 2 years. We haven’t gone to see anyone yet. About 4 months after deciding to try for a baby my mom passed away unexpectedly. my mom and dad were in a car accident (April 2016) on the way to my nephews baby shower and 2 days before my birthday, and she didn’t make it. A month later my grandpa was in a car accident, 2 months after that he fell and had to be put in a home, he then passed away in December of last year. I wholeheartedly believe the stress of these things has had a significant impact on my not getting pregnant. Even though they say after a year you should get pregnant I felt like it wasn’t time to go see anyone and my primary kept saying I’ll get pregnant because I have regular cycles.
I also was a smoker, and am about 100 lbs overweight (according to the height/weight chart) I recently quit smoking (almost 3 weeks) although for the past two months I have quit here and there for a week and then gone back. This also caused my regular periods (almost always to the day) to go haywire. I just started finally after a 71 day cycle.

Now that it has taken so long and we’ve gone through so many things I am so ready to be pregnant and have the joy that it brings. I’ve quit smoking and am armed with OPKs to use when this period is over. I feel that if by the end of the year we haven’t managed to get pregnant will be the time to see a specialist.

We haven’t told anyone we are trying and that it has taken so long. So I have no other support and that has lead me here to this forum.

What an awful string of events. Quitting smoking and getting your weight down is a great start. If you are having 70 day cycles though with no real explanation, I would at least entertain the idea of getting a consult with an RE. Best of luck to you though!

Hi Netta, I’m so sorry for all of the losses you had. I whole heartily believe stress effects our bodies in more ways then one. My husband and I have been trying to conceive for over a year and a half now. I to am trying to lose weight and get healthier. Congratulations on quitting smoking, I know that will help to. We haven’t told anyone either, its just to hard to talk about sometimes. We can support each other in this journey. We are giving it a few months and we to will go see a specialist. Try and hang in there. We are trying our best and can only hope for a little miracle.

We had our first visit today with a fertility specialist. I had a 2d and 3D ultrasound done. Looks mostly normal however my left ovary is very close to my uterus or almost on top. She said it could indicate Endo but it’s way to early to say that for sure since I have no other symptoms and this is the first testing we’ve done. She said it could just be where it was today and will recheck later. Husband is getting SA on Thursday and I am waiting for my next cycle to start for blood work and scheduling hystersalpingogram (?) the test with the dye to check my tubes and the saline test. Praying to find out something (or nothing!) to continue on our baby journey.

Hey and I’m sorry for your losses. I know How much the struggle of losing people can put stress on your body... I lost My sister and father within 6 months of each other and though I wasnt ttc back then i remember not getting period for a few month. Congrats on the quitting smoking , it’s difficult , I know that too. I hope You can get some answers from the RE.

I still have not had the dye or saline done however I had bloodwork and he had SA. My bloodwork is normal however for whatever reason im not immune to rubella (german measels?) and she said I should get a booster shot. His SA is abonormal, his count is low, around 5 million. I still need the other tests so we haven't done a follow up with the doctor yet as far as options for what we should do.

Has anyone had the same? Low count? What options were presented to you as the best way to move forward? Any tips for increasing count?

Hi. I hope you feel any better now. A series of heart breaking incidents. You must have faced a lot of hard time. I can feel for you. And, I am so sorry for you. Sending virtual hugs. Yes, you are right stress changes our body functioning in a number of ways. Our normal functioning gets disturbed. You need to stay strong. Don't get upset. It can further deteriorate your health. Accept what the nature brings for you. Fight with it. Don't lose hope. Remember, tough roads often lead to beautiful destinations. I hope you get the good news soon. A baby will help you forget the pain you have had in the past and you are still going through. I think you should see a gynecologist now. She would advice you better than us. Sending baby dust to your doorsteps. Stay blessed.
