Sunday ticker change 5/27

Ticker change simply means that you have started a new week of pregnancy.  For example, I go from 20 weeks to 21 weeks on Sunday 5/27, so my “ticker” changes on Subdays. It is our way of marking a milestone.

1. How many weeks are you? What size is baby?

2. How are you feeling?

3. Any appointments this week?

4. Rants/raves/questions?

5. GTKY: What piece of advice would you give to your future mother self?

  • @SweetSweetTooth you're better than me, I would've asked for the foot rub rather than offer lol

    1. How many weeks are you? What size is baby?

    21 weeks, Chipotle burrito

    2. How are you feeling?

Mostly ok but lots of heartburn and having similar hip pain and I can't spread my legs wider than my hips without it hurting so that sucks. Midwife referred me to a chiropracter but I've never been to one so a little hesitant. Haven't scheduled an appt yet.

    3. Any appointments this week?

    Nope!

    4. Rants/raves/questions?

My MIL is being annoyingly gushy now that I'm starting to show. She makes obnoxious comments complete with a minimum of 3 emojis on every photo I post to FB where there is a semblance of a bump. She even asked me to send her a copy of one of me and DH from Disney yesterday but then later deleted it maybe bc she realized how weird it was? This is just her personality which is complete opposite of mine so it really bothers me. Hormones don't help.

    5. GTKY: What piece of advice would you give to your future mother self?

This is a hard one! I'm a perfectionist and this is my first pregnancy so I'd probably say to not be too hard on myself. Not everything is going to be perfect and it 100% is not always going to go according to plan so just be in the moment and accept/enjoy motherhood for what it is.

  • @SweetSweetTooth - One of the perks of not liking th GTKY questions from the other checkins in that you totally get to make up a new one if you want.   B)
  • 1. How many weeks are you? What size is baby?

    20 weeks, bananas or axolotls

    2. How are you feeling?

My feet are getting puffy. I think it’s mostly because we were outside in the heat and busy all weekend. I’ll have to up my water.

    3. Any appointments this week?

    Chiro, but nothing pregnancy related

    4. Rants/raves/questions?

DH was grumpy a lot this weekend. Road trips with the kids are challenging, but it was his idea so him being pissy about things is really frustrating

    5. GTKY: What piece of advice would you give to your future mother self?

Don’t get so focused on the future that you miss the present.

  • 1. How many weeks are you? What size is baby?

    21 weeks; Endive

    2. How are you feeling?

Good! Back pain is mostly gone (still don’t know if that was baby related or if I did something to it)

    3. Any appointments this week?

Nothing until my 24 week appt

    4. Rants/raves/questions?

Posted on AS thread, but doctor found some fluid around one of baby’s kidneys, he said it was within the “norm” but we’re doing a second u/s at my 28 week scan to be safe...it’s definitely gotten me a little out of whack.  Still haven’t made “official” social media announcement and I’m kind of feeling guilty now bc it’s been so long #thirdbabyproblems...but we’re going on vacation next week so I’m hoping to get a cute pic with the other two kids for our big announcement!

    5. GTKY: What piece of advice would you give to your future mother self?

Ugh...the mom guilt. Just know you’re not going to be perfect - forgive yourself, move on, and be present.

  • 1. How many weeks are you? What size is baby?

18 weeks. Size of an artichoke.

    2. How are you feeling?

Been feeling good, still just dealing with the insomnia, I am hoping that it gets better I used to need 8 hours of sleep at night to function but now it seems I’m good with only 5 or 6 maybe in preparation for what is to come when baby is born

    3. Any appointments this week?

    No appointments this week

    4. Rants/raves/questions?

Getting tired of my super cranky H, most days he thinks the world is out to get him when things don’t go his way. I think my patience for his complaining are starting to wear thin, before pregnancy it was easier for me to just let it go and to let him vent.

    5. GTKY: What piece of advice would you give to your future mother self?

Don’t sweat the small stuff, snuggles with baby are far more important than the dirty dishes and laundry.

  • 1. How many weeks are you? What size is baby? 18 Weeks - Artichoke

    2. How are you feeling? Ok-ish. Nausea has been decent this week. My feet have started swelling a bit but I think it's because I was in another conference last week and two weeks in a row of sitting for 14-16 hour days wasn't great. I chugged water like it was my job and made sure to move around a ton yesterday once I was home and that helped.

    3. Any appointments this week? Finally see my midwife again on Thursday - it's been 7 weeks since I was there and feels like forever!

    4. Rants/raves/questions? While we're venting about DHs - my DD has a school project due today that I asked them to work on while I was away as I knew I wouldn't be home until late Saturday night. Of course they did absolutely nothing for it so I had to spend all day yesterday with her doing the poster and prepping her oral presentation (and she was cranky about it because we had to spend most of the day doing it all). We got it done but it wasn't how I was hoping to spend my entire Sunday!

    5. GTKY: What piece of advice would you give to your future mother self? Umm...probably just go with your gut. You get so many opinions and advice from everyone about everything related to YOUR child - ignore it all and do what feels right.

  • @knottieamusements oh I know  :) just wanted to get the ticker change posted and had no inspiration for a different question .
  • @bel194- Congratulations!  That is so awesome!  I hope both AS and closing go smoothly!
  • @bel194 I get a lot of that from time to time. Usually if my lower back and groin muscles are sore or tight it makes it worse. It comes and goes m. Try to worry too much, more than likely it’s nothing.
  • 1. How many weeks are you? What size is baby? 21w.  Baby is the size of an endive (who knows what the hell size an endive is???)

    2. How are you feeling? Feeling OK.  Had a bug over the weekend, but we are officially moved!  Thank the good lord for that.  And baby is moving a ton.  DH and DS both felt the baby kick this weekend which was awesome.

    3. Any appointments this week? Just therapy ;)

    4. Rants/raves/questions? DH thinks it's silly but I am worried about having GF safe food during my hospital stay...he says obviously a hospital would be able to prep and cook without contamination but i feel like it's a cafeteria....anyone have insight on this?

    5. GTKY: What piece of advice would you give to your future mother self? Stay calm when you can, flip out when you need to- try your best not to do it in front of the kiddos, and say yes whenever anyone offers help.

    2. How are you feeling? I've been having a lot of vaginal pressure this weekend. Not painful, just a heavy feeling.
I am having a ton of that this pregnancy.  I'm finding it much easier to "over-do" it.  It's mostly days I've been doing a lot physically- which is nothing like your non-pregnant self would consider a lot.  Could be bending, stooping, squatting, pushing a vacuum etc.  It feels like my vagina is falling out- swollen, sore when I wipe.

It's normal....not comfy though.  Look at it as your body telling you to take it easy!

  • @MissBridg the GF food is a concern of mine! I just thought of this, perhaps asking the hospital when you tour how they accommodate? Otherwise my plan is to bring all the snacks and have DH and my family go on food runs for me. I absolutely cannot stand jello or lunch meat  so they better not tell me that's the GF option. I also have this weird association with hospital food=jello. Perhaps it's better than I imagine. But I'm skeptical.
  • @MissBridg and @jemmerjams most hospitals are good about providing specialty diets. They have a ton of them. Gluten free, vegetarian, vegan, halal, allergy-free, diabetic etc. They tend to be more aware than just a typical restaurant/cafeteria and do have dietician on staff who help with meals. But definitely ask.
