Tuesday Twatwaffle 5/29

I'm too tired to twat but if you've got some, let's hear 'em!

Does the word Twatwaffle make anyone else think of tacos? Speaking of tacos and Tuesday, what's for dinner? Tell us about that. Pictures totally welcome. Of dinner and like actual food tacos, that is. Not twat tacos. That's crude and inappropriate.

We actually are having tacos tonight! H makes some yummy tacos too, so I'm thinking that plus a salad.

@nackie that sounds good! And healthy!
I think we'll probably have Mac n cheese with meatballs and veggies. I haven't been shopping and am way too tired to get more creative than that.

That's my twatwaffle complaint, I guess. I'm tired and my stupid pelvis hurts. I'm grateful though that hubby can watch Buddy after his nap so I can nap too without having to listen for or be on the same timeline as kiddo.

@EErin86 noooooooo! Can you get doughnuts and coffee for the drive or something to make it less painful?
  • stothistothi member
I decided to order tacos for dinner!!! Rolled tacos with chicken, 2 types of pork tacos, fish tacos, an obscene amount of horchata and flan for after buddy is asleep. I order him some too but I didn't want him having it before bed and will offer it to him tomorrow at lunch. I ate soooooooo much! Yum!

    @BusinessWife happy anniversary!

Regarding your heel pain, are you on your feet a lot at work? If so, maybe you're favoring one side over the other when standing- this happens to me often and I'll get hip through foot pain worse on one side. Otherwise, I've got nothing.
  • @nlc8424. Thanks!  I thought of that, too, and it's just so weird.  Hard to say, but I will try to pay more attention today... if anything, it seemed like I was favouring the left bc it hurts less!  Lol  so I'm not sure.  I definitely stand a lot, and walk around too tho, plus I have a stool so I can put one foot up, and I sit when I can... that was why the driving came to mind, bc it's the one thing I could think of that I am habitually doing with only the right foot. (Well, I mean, clutch doesn't count! lol)

...and then there's the question of what to-do about it. :/  a massage / pedi might feel nice while it's happening, but I'm not sure it would really fix anything.

@BusinessWife can you get a pair of more supportive shoes? With a better fit-to-you insole?
  • @nlc8424. I have been working on that... a pair of clarks I ordered from Amazon were just too big, even with the insoles.  The insoles I have / have liked so far, in my fall/winter boots, (like a yummy cushy gel thing for the heel, mostly) when I put them in my flats, were jamming my toes in too tight.  Lol so the hunt is still on, for sure.  Lately, since the warmer weather, I have just been in my regular black flats, which aren't terribly supportive.  I don't know if I may need to find time on the weekend or something to go to the mall and try on shoes in person?  It's just so time consuming, and I feel like I never get any real downtime when I over schedule myself.  .. But if I could do that, and also get a proper bra fitting in the same day, it would probably be worth it!

@BusinessWife ugh, I know. I always love the idea of time to myself and then overschedule and it's long gone! This weekend I am getting a pedicure, no matter what, I am determined to make this happen (especially since I can't comfortably reach my toes to do it myself!).

@BusinessWife Happy anniversary! I hope you figure out what's causing the heel pain.

  • @EErin86 I hope you had nice weather for your drive this morning! Did you get your snacks??

@BusinessWife Happy anniversary! re: shoes...I also find Naturalizer to be a really comfortable/supportive brand. I recently bought a pair of their sandals and they are super cushiony, and have several pair of their heels, as well (which I am definitely not wearing these days...)

  • @BusinessWife you may want to look up plantar fasicitis (bad spelling and no brains today). Could cause heel pain for sure-there are stretches and exercises that can help too-you can look online-as well as better shoes. :)Weight gain and hormonal changes can make pregnant women more prone to it, and one side isn't uncommon. Also, I hope I'm wrong, it sucks.

My TW is the humidity. We actually need to good storm to help the air release it's moisture here. Not that it won't be humid after too, but hopefully less so...It's apparently only 73 inside, but if guess heat index at like 86, but AC won't kick on with temp low. It's significantly cooler (80) outside than the last few days, but...so wet.

@EErin86 Eeeeep!!! Baby chicks! <3<3<3 How many!? What kind!?
  • jumpy57jumpy57 member
    @stothi
3 barred rock, 2 buff orpingtons, 2 silver laced wyandots, 2 black ausralops, and a poofy brown Easter egger. I actually only planned on 6 but DH said get extra in case they die or turn out to be roosters and I think I went a bit overboard
  • stothistothi member
@EErin86 unfortunately they do die sometimes :/ 8-10 is great if you are hoping to wind up with 6 or so. I think it's interesting how incredibly easy to care for and hardy chickens are while simultaneously being kinda fragile and prone to dropping dead unexpectedly.
I love the selection you got!
I don't remember if you said you had chicks before but I'll throw out a quick caution in case you haven't, the little ones fall asleep randomly and very quickly, so be careful with their waterer cause they can drown if they fall asleep too close. I lost my Wyandotte that way :'(  It helps if you can add some marbles/clean rocks to the water tray so they can drink around them, but not get their heads submerged if they fall asleep while drinking.
Please feel free to post all the pictures all the time!!!
  • @BusinessWife New gym shoes, if you wear them a lot, are worth it, especially if you have a running store to assist you. They can find the right fit, shape, and support for even just a walking shoe.

@BusinessWife I very much want to get into bee keeping too! It's so on my radar! Chickens, ducks and bees is my soft goal with meat rabbits and either pet goats just for funsies or actual dairy goats as my ultimate homesteading goal. Oh, and a tilapia tank!!! I have zero idea how to pull that one off but that's what the internet is for, right?
  • jumpy57jumpy57 member
@stothi @BusinessWife I keep thinking I would love bees because honey is delicious and I've been into making mead lately (honey wine) but then I remember I'm afraid of bees haha! I have a co-worker whose family does large scale bee farming so I at least know a guy to get honey from. I'm so excited to finally get into chickens and my secret goal is to have a sustainable meat flock, I just need to convince DH  ;)

@jhjocelyn chickens totally are smelly and creepy! Little dinosaur poop factories! I still love 'though :)
Most of my family says no thank you to interacting with them but all enjoy feeding them through the chicken wire and enjoy eating the fresh eggs.

@EErin86 I need to do actual real life research still, not just Pinterest, about keeping bees but I found a lady on Facebook who lives not crazy far away who keeps bees and teaches classes! I need to see how I feel about being around that many bees at once, but I'm totally fine with the few dozen buzzing around the garden. Coming out to the garden to the sight and sound of the bees visiting the sunflowers is one of my favorite things.

Older pic with just one bee, but absolutely one of my favorite things to see. We don't have sunflowers blooming here yet, but we are working on it!

@southernlady07 oh that would rub me the wrong way too. Short notice and day care centers don't get well together! Hope the director has good reasoning behind the delayed request.
  • stothistothi member
@southernlady07 argh! I hate shitty (I tried to type 'short' but auto complete went with shitty and I feel that it works) notice for purchase requests! I don't go shopping everyday. I plan it out. Plus, you know, budgets and all that. If you want me to buy something or give money, then I need 2 weeks notice.
