Holiday plans?

As a FTM and 29 weeks along, I'm at a loss what to do with our last few remaining holidays.  Camping sounds fun, but I can't participate in any of the stuff we usually do (dirt biking, rzr-ing, etc).  Aside from hiking, I don't know how to spend our last "free" holiday weekend!  I suppose we could do some house projects but I'd like to take advantage of the weekend somewhat.  What's everyone else doing??

Re: Holiday plans?

  • We're going camping! I was going to try to hold out, but by the time the babe gets here it'll be full into fire season, and I don't want to wait a whole year. So, 4 day weekend with H and the toddler. Probably a few day hikes but otherwise just looking forward to the fresh air and a little peace away from the city!

  • We're going to breakfast and play event for babies under 2 which should be a lot of fun for my son.

We're also going to go swimming and then Monday we have a wedding.

As far as ideas of things to do you could always try fishing or cannoning if your camp site has a lake. Or you could see if there are any local festivals going on or if anyone's doing an outdoor movie.
  • I’m a STM with a young toddler, so my holiday will be spent pretty much the same way we spend any weekend/day off.  However, if I was a FTM, I’d go to the movies as much as possible (it’ll be increasingly tough to sit through a movie in a few weeks and very difficult to leave LO for long enough to go after baby arrives). I’d also go to my most favorite restaurants that are not super kid friendly. Museums are also a good call (kiddos learn very early on that their voices echo inmuseums and intentionally make louder noises as a result).
  • We have no plans for this Holiday. We usually have a jam packed schedule for Memorial Weekend. I haven’t really been up to doing much and also trying to save my energy for our trip to New Orleans in July. I agree with @proudparent2b attempt to do some of the things that may have to be out on hold when baby comes. If you enjoy eating out donthat now. It isn’t the most pleasant with a newborn.

thanks for the feedback!  Yeah there are definitely things I don't know yet - like what I won't be able to do or enjoy as much after the baby comes.  I'll have to tackle that list!

  • @hoff079 Every mom is different, but for me, the biggest differences in life with a new born are related to the numerous feedings all day and night- you’re totally on LO’s cycle for several months before you can work into a routine.

That’s why my recommendatioms are primarily for things that take longer- because you won’t necessarily have long interrupted batches of time again for quite awhile.

I’d like us to go out for a kid-free dinner. And maybe a trip to the lake! Orrrr just hanging out in the backyard

Hopefully will be fitting a beach day in! Of course there is nursery room work and yard work to be done, but I'm hoping to take a whole day just to have a quiet day to hang out. I figure those days are going to be limited in a couple months :)
  • Why can’t you go out on the RZR? We do this almost every weekend. SO would die if I said no more.

I did go out once a few months ago but it was so bumpy it made me nervous!  I felt better riding my dirt bike because I could stand and my knees would absorb the shock of any bumps....
