We've est. a bad habit - wwyd?

Ever since we got back from Christmas vaca, Max has been waking around 5:45 am.  He doesn't really cry but moans and babbles - it's like he's talking in his sleep.  Anyway, if he were in his own room, I'd let him go but he has awaken his brother this early so we've been bringing him into bed w/ us.  Crazy, he falls right back to sleep in our bed and everyone get another 30-45 mins of sleep.  I really don't want to continue a bad habit but everyone benefits, thoughts?

A reason he might be waking: his little hands are so cold.  He sleeps w/ a long sleeve onesie, sox AND footed sleeper and sleep sak.  But his little hands are exposed and even though we keep the house at 68 at night, his little pudgy hands are cold.  Any recs?

  • I don't.  We bumped our thermostat to 72 degrees this winter for the same reason.  Thier little cheeks were cold at night.

I have mixed feelings about the bringing into bed.  I LOVE to wake up to my baby(ies) smiling at me.  It totally makes my morning.  It does a few other things to though

    1.  Makes me stay in bed playing with them far too long and I am late for work

    2.  The time they would wake up and I would bring them to bed kept sliding earlier and earlier.  Before I knew it, we were just putting them to bed in our bed.

    3.  Breaking them of that isn't fun.

That is all I have!  Sorry!

  • Have you tried putting a space heater in their room?  Our upstairs gets so cold at night and because mine don't sleep with blankets, we bought one last year.  It really keeps their room warm at night.

  • I wish I had the answer..Timmie does the same thing..He started STTN again..But he wakes at 5:00 every morning..We take him in the bed with us..(which I HATE)..Sometimes he falls back asleep for about an hour and sometimes he just wants to be up..

  • SOCKS ON HIS HANDS!!! That's what we do for Brady! His hands are always cold, so during naps he wears socks on his hands. He is still swadlled at night, so his hands are inside, but when he breaks free of that (when he's 18), he'll get socks then too.

We call them "sleep sox"....it's his que during the day to take a nappy nap!?

  • We have a warm mist humidifier in the kids' room and it really helps keep in warm in there, for some reason that room gets pretty cold otherwise.  Just a thought...
