10 weeks tomorrow! Cherry becomes a strawberry.
YES! It's later today and DH is joining me. Hoping for another ultrasound so DH can see LO and hear the heartbeat too. FX!
Rave about DH! Yesterday while I was looking for good fat-pants, DH changed a light fixture, scheduled our movers in Kansas, scheduled our home inspection in Alabama, AND bought me more of the magical Preggie Pop Drops Plus.
I really like Jillian Michael's Yeah Baby, and I just picked up a Montessori book that I really like so far. DH picked up Achtung Baby for us. We're totally on board with more relaxed European methods because we think that Americans are too uptight.

11 weeks! The size of a lime, which feels like huge progress!
Yep! It's not until the end of next week though so I have to wait. It'll be nice to be out of the first trimester shortly thereafter.
Not too much as the moment. Just getting impatient already. My husband is awesome in general so I don't have anything specific to rave about. I have a small rant which I will explain in the next question.
The only books I've read so far are the Mayo Clinic Guide to a Healthy Pregnancy, which has been a great resource, and Ina May's Guide to Childbirth, which I ended up not liking at all. I wanted look into natural birthing options, just to see what it's all about, but I've been really put off by the general attitude of that community regarding doctors. I feel like a lot of it is fear-mongering. I actually stopped reading the book because I just didn't like how she portrayed doctors as being ignorant of pregnancy and childbirth issues. It also seemed that she thinks that hospital births are still stuck in the 60s and 70s and every doctor will rush you into either sucking the baby out with a vacuum or a C-section, which just isn't true.
I'm sure loads of people have had bad doctors or bad experiences, but I love my doctors and I trust them completely. They are the doctors, I am not. I trust that they will intervene in labor if they deem it necessary, and I don't think that has to be a traumatic experience if you don't let it be. Scary? Sure, not not necessarily traumatic. Everyone I have seen in the office so far (I think there are 5 doctors total there) has been incredibly friendly, understanding, supportive, and thoroughly knowledgeable and I feel more than comfortable having any one of them deliver my baby.
ETA: I have absolutely no problem with people birthing exclusively with midwives either in the hospital, birthing centers, or at home. I totally get some women's desire to birth without medication, etc., but it's just not that important to me for birth to be some kind of existential experience. I want my baby out as safely (and quickly, if I'm being totally honest) as possible with as little pain and hardship to me as possible, and I am totally prepared that sometimes that requires a C-section or other type of intervention, and I trust my doctors to do that for me.
9+5 Yay! Almost double digits. Yesterday was the size of a tater tot, which is the greatest size yet.
Yeah! Nitp and Dr check up on the 25th, just feels far away. I'm going to be sharing the news with my boss on Thursday and my siblings over the weekend because of timing (Thursday is my last day of work before I'm visibly preg in July, my sibs are far away and we're getting together this weekend). I'm just so on the fence about telling anyone when I haven't had an US since 6 weeks!
Rants/Raves/Questions/Dear Diary?
lol, see above? No, I think I'm starting to see the light on symptoms, but not being a total witch is still hard.
I agree with you @scaredunprepared - its easy how many options and opinions there are. Plus I still feel like it's early and don't want to jinx myself. Damn PGAL. but I like the father's day idea- maybe I'll get one or two around that time.
Tomorrow will be 8 weeks!
Yes, but also really nervous. It’s my first u/s and I’ve got PGAL brain. If everything goes well, it’ll officially be the furthest I’ve made it into pregnancy. I’m not really feeling any more symptoms than I was last time, so I’m nervous about that.
See above
I’ve found reading articles online works better for me. I checked out library books a while ago, and might try more again. I’m not going to buy any. A few weeks ago I’d got The Girlfriends Guide to Pregnancy, and it wasn’t really my style. I read the first few pages & never picked it up again. I hadn’t read the reviews before I checked it out.
Instead, I skimmed through the dad version of The Dummies Guide to Pregnancy. I’d picked out that one for SO because it was one of the only dad guides I could find reviews of online that didn’t sound totally misogynistic. He never read it. Lol, but he did read some paperwork I brought home from my clinic about how to support pregnant partners, so he gets a couple points.
7w5d - I feel like I have been pregnant FOREVER since i found out at 3 weeks. Time is moving at snails pace
I have an appointment with my RE tomorrow. We will get to see the baby and hear the heartbeat. I haven't been in a week and the anticipation of making sure everything is ok is killing me. I don't know what I am going to do when I graduate from the RE next week! I will also start weaning off of estrogen and progesterone and I can't freaking wait!
Rants is just the level of bloat and gas pain I have. Also.. I hate drinking water (or anything that's not coffee or wine) so I feel like I am not getting enough water in and it's stressing me out.
I have looked through What to Expect When You're Expecting but that's about it.
11 weeks 3 days!
Excited only so I can listen to baby beans HB! My next appointment isn't until June 8th, so I've still got a while to go!
Rant: Every time I think my fatigue is starting to ease up (hello almost the end of 1st trimester) it comes back and hits my the next day with a vengeance! On Saturday, I had a really good day! I didn't need a nap and I was able to get a lot done around the house. But Sunday, I was totally wiped! I woke up late, I took an hour nap during the day, and I was ready for bed by 8! I was so exhausted!
I have not been reading any baby books. I mostly just read stuff online. I will look through everyone's recommendations, though, b/c having an actual book would make it easier for both DH and I to be involved.

@echo-charlietango FX for a great appointment today!!! Definitely keep us updated! I'd love to look into some Montessori books. Which one did you buy, if you don't mind me asking? I'm thinking these will be more for when baby is older, but it doesn't hurt to start looking now!
@morgantu I get the same way about telling people our news! Usually the first few days after a good appointment I'm in the mood to share, but after that, I get worried again that something might go wrong. Then I start to regret telling the people I have told, in case that does happen! I think we've decided though that we're not going to do a big official social media announcement and just kind of tell people we're close to as we see them.
@scaredunprepared and @tumbleweed-1 Good luck with your US appointments!

8 weeks 5 days or 9 weeks 1 day, ha. I measured 3 days behind what I thought I was at the ultrasound, but because I ovulated so late, they didn't keep where I thought I was at. Guess I'll figure it out at the next appt.
Yes! I have an appointment with the midwife clinic I'm going with (they're based at a hospital and have lovely suites with showers or tubs ensuite, doctors if emergencies come up, NICU, all of that.) It's not till 5/31 though. That'll be right at 11 weeks based on the last ultrasound. It's a little nerve wracking knowing that we have a few family members we want to tell before that appointment and I won't have seen the heart beat since 7 wks 4 days.
Rants are how much I hate the smell of the fridge right now. It's SO overwhelmingly powerful with the mixing of all the various leftovers and other foods. I get nauseous every time I open it. I also am SO bloated and it's super uncomfortable with anything that sits at my waist, which is why I'm already using a Bella Band every single day.
Any of you doing the NIPT testing without insurance coverage for it? Or know how much it is when you do that. Haha. My insurance is amazing, but the NIPT is only covered if "medically necessary" and I'm not high risk or over 35, so I don't think I can make the case for it to be covered. If it'll only be $100-200 out of pocket then I'd probably do it. If more, probably not.
I read Real Food for Pregnancy which was amazing. I will have to check out some of the books that you all suggest for actual baby/pregnancy books though.
@morgantu When I told DH we had a tater tot, he says “wow! That was the name I was going to pick. Tater Tot LastName”
@tumbleweed-1 Oh! Why do I forget about libraries? Maybe try with your SO what accidentally worked on MH. Walk to the baby book section, then announce that you need to pee, thus leaving him alone with baby books and zero pressure from me. When I came back he picked two good ones (we bought physical books to increase the chances of him reading them too!).
@lexidawg That’s awesome that you’re getting weaned off of the hormones! Also, wine is delicious...so you’re not alone there.
@mag1cbeli3ver 8pm is a totally reasonable bedtime in this house
@omnommer Oh, I want to check out Real Food for Pregnancy! I love reading about food & nutrition
The book I got is in the spoiler. How to Raise an Amazing Child the Montessori Way by Tim Seldin.

10 weeks tomorrow
yes! It's at the end of the month when. I'm 12 weeks
i currently feel so so so over this first trimester because I am constantly nauseous, exhausted, and constipated.
ive read the "what to expect" book and "simplicity parenting", which I really loved
9 weeks, 5 days. Baby was the size of a tator tot yesterday (today was a less than exciting comparison to a water bottle cap).
Yes - way too far away honestly. I am seeing a midwife on the 31st, and an OB on the 5th of June. There should be an ultrasound at the OB - it'd be my first one!
I'm just nervous about my appointments being so far away. The OB that I managed to get an appointment with also has a lot of drama associated with their name that I found via google... It was a few years ago though so that's at least good. But, I do have the midwife option open still right now. The midwife is located about an hour and a half away, and OB is local - so really that'd be more practical. After meeting them I'll probably settle on which route suits my needs better.
I've started what to expect, the fifth edition. I REALLY want to steal my sister's baby naming books but alas, until the first ultrasound I might not be comfortable revealing to anyone. I've also been getting into a pregnancy movie craze!

Hey we are due date buddies! Sorry I didn't clue into that earlier today aha! Yes tater tot is the greatest size yet, and I celebrated by eating some yesterday!
@mag1cbeli3ver
I also find that everyday is different - sometimes I'm asleep for a nap the second I'm home for work, sometimes I have energy. Some mornings I wake up and I'm running to the toilet with feeling sick, and some day the nausea is non-existent.
@omnommer
My fridge is also killing me. I finally went through to organize it because I've literally just been in and out so everything is all over the place - ugh the nausea from that.
@laurench912
Hopefully you get a few days relief at least from all the nausea
@echo-charlietango
Thanks for sharing the info on that Montessori book. I'm a teacher so I'm all about optimum environments / finding ways for kids to make meaningful experiences and I feel like that book would be a good fit. Funny enough, I am also more excited about when they're a little older but I think it's just because I have only been around a few babies!

very. We have our second ultrasound on Thursday (NT screen) and I am very excited to see baby. I was very nervous for the first one but feel more excited than nervous for this one. We will announce to more family after this one, which will be fun and next week I will tell my boss and post the Facebook announcement. It's exciting to think that it won't be a secret anymore and I can pin stuff in Pinterest and go shopping and all of that
dear diary, I think I started showing at 11 weeks. Now the bump is there in the morning, vs only appearing after I eat..
"what to expect when you're expecting" - didn't like that one. Too judgy? Tries too hard to be a diet book?
"the unexpected when you are expecting" - was very funny. I was laughing like a crazy person in public places.
"pregnancy planner" - just part way through but so far so good. Looking forward to reading the advice about gear, etc.
