  • How far along are you? 7 wks

Why are you high-risk? AMA, IVF, PPROM at 29wks w/ 31wk delivery of DS

Any additional monitoring or testing this week? RE wk 7 visit w/ ultrasound tomorrow, next week is a big week b/c we have our wk 8 RE visit w/ discharge from RE if all is well AND we meet with our MFM for the first time.

Rants/Raves/Questions? I just read about the new testing that has come out (well new to me, DS was born 5 yrs ago and I haven't kept up on stuff since then!)  Anyone know how easy it is to get insurance to cover it?

Why are you high-risk? T2 diabetes

Any additional monitoring or testing this week? I'm just getting back into being stricter about not snacking too much or finishing DD's food and remembering to check my blood sugar after every meal.

Rants/Raves/Questions? I'm kind of annoyed I couldn't get an appointment with my Endo until 7/2 (10 weeks). I'm diet-controlled and I know the general guidelines since I had GD from 13 weeks on with DD, but we moved since then, so this is a new Endo and I was hoping to touch base with him a little earlier on to discuss targets and expectations going forward. Especially since I'm not sure what to expect from the first trimester, hopefully I will be able to stay diet-controlled until then without going keto. I also had severe anxiety last pregnancy surrounding food and my blood sugar.

  • I am T2 as well. My blood sugars are not quite controlled. My doctor has been testing me on many different things since January. If it didnt make me sicker than a dog, it had a million side effects I didnt want any part of. I've been taking Metformin, and I am sure it will work if I would concentrate on what I put in my mouth. Of course now that I found out I was pregnant, I have did a 360 and have made sure I eat what I should. It has sucked... but I know whats important. I'm still having high numbers... so a little nervous.
  • How far along: 5w5d-ish.

Why high risk: T2 Diabetes, Pre-eclampsia with DD, low progesterone

Monitoring/Testing this week: No, not until 6/5/18.... seems so far away.

Rant/Raves/Questions: Eating like a rabbit, and my blood sugars are still elevated. The doctor told me to continue taking Metformin (but I was on insulin with DD)... so just hoping it's safe.

  • @econcha fwiw, I was on metformin with DD. (I have pcos and was on metformin to regulate my cycles to get pregnant. My OB had me stay on it and I stopped after DD was born, until we starting trying for number two)

  • Technically, my OB says I am not going to automatically be considered high risk this time around, but I’m still nervous because with DD I was considered high risk. My cervix started funneling and shortening at 25 weeks so I was put in strict bed rest and progesterone suppositories for my whole third trimester. We made it to 39 weeks!
But im very nervous about the same thing happening again. It was caught by chance last time, and my OB has said she is not going to recommend additional scans to check my cervix unless other things are going on.

  • The MaterniT testing.  I also read that Counsyl does something similar.  Our insurance covered our pre-pregnancy Counsyl testing so I'm afraid they might not cover the test now.

If you are high risk and certainly if you are AMA they typically cover it. Of course it depends on the insurance company. Just make sure your doc codes it correctly for them and it should be covered.

  • Another note about the testing: even if your insurance doesn’t cover it, typically the companies have an out of pocket amount that you pay that’s in the hundreds, not the thousands! I haven’t run into anyone who actually had to pay anything yet though.

Alwo Hii! I’m not going to officially check in here yet because I haven’t talked to my OB about my status this pregnancy BUT I had postpartum preeclampsia with DD as well as a superficial blood clot in my second trimester. So it’s likely I belong here.
