Any other plus size moms to be here? How are you doing with activity and nutrition? Are you facing any challenges? Any good places to get maternity clothes? Advice or tips to FTMs?
How are you doing with activity and nutrition? Not great on nutrition; I've gone ham this week. As for activity, I've done pretty well! We went hiking on Sunday and I wore my 2.5 year old, went to the gym on Monday, and am going to the gym again today. Are you facing any challenges? I'm having two and I'm FTFO about the weight gain. I gained A LOT of weight with my son and I don't want to do the same this go around. Doc told me I'd gain 35 to 45 pounds with two and if I can keep it under control, That's acceptable to me. I passed my 3 hour glucose test last pregnancy, but I'm wondering if I ended up developing GD later in pregnancy. DS was 9lb9oz and had blood sugar issues. I'm hoping I don't have it this go around, but we'll see. I'm considering going to a nutritionist to help me through.
Any good places to get maternity clothes? I ordered some off of Old Navy and I've browsed Amazon and it looks like there are some options. I own a lot of Lularoe clothes and I think they'll work well as maternity.
Advice or tips to FTMs? As much as you might want to, try not to let yourself eat with reckless abandon. It's REALLY hard to get the weight off because you'll have a newborn, and then a 3 month old, then a 6 month old, etc. Try to have SOME self control, lol!
How are you doing with activity and nutrition? Nutrition I think I'm doing pretty well. Leaning heavily on boiled eggs, oatmeal and fruit. Activity not so much. I've taken a couple walks but thats it. I'm hoping my energy will pick up in the coming weeks and I'll be able to do more.
Are you facing any challenges? Just really trying to watch my gain. I gained 7 pounds prior to our transfer because of the IVF medications. I'm up another 4 from that right now. My RE hasn't mentioned it as an issue but I just really want this to be a healthy pregnancy and I know that means watching my gains. I was thinking I would maintain during first trimester due to nausea...but that hasn't been a bad symptom for me. Drinking water like a fiend hoping most of this gain is just bloat and not real weight.
Any good places to get maternity clothes? I found some good clearance deals at Kohls, but then one of the pairs of pants started falling apart at the seams. Love the Belly Band in Target's maternity section. It's letting me stretch the life of my normal pants.
Any other plus size moms to be here? *waves* Hi there!
How are you doing with activity and nutrition? Pretty good with activity - 30-45 min walks every day, though I keep forgetting to do my at home strength training 2-3x a week. I'd like to start remembering that! Food wise, my OB and I agree that first tri is just kind of survival mode so do the best you can and I have been losing weight (just like 2 pounds or so) so I'm feeling fine about just eating whatever I can stomach. Second tri I'm looking forward to tracking my food in my fitness pal again and focusing on healthy food only (with occasional treats) and lots and lots of nutrients. I can't wait to eat more veggies again. I have not been able to stomach much of them lately.
Are you facing any challenges? Just self imposed - since I'm still hanging on to 10 pounds from when I was pregnant with my DD (I gained 40 that time) and I was 15 pounds over my happy weight when I got pregnant then, I am pretty far from my ideal weight right now, so I want to stick to 20 pound weight gain this pregnancy. I brought it up with my OB and she said that's a perfectly healthy goal. She doesn't want me to go much below that, but I bet she'd be okay with even 15, which would be ideal. Of course, nutrition and health of the baby is the most important thing, and I will not be dieting, just focusing on healthy food and sensible portions (once out of first tri craziness.)
Any good places to get maternity clothes? I've actually been find finding stuff at Motherhood Maternity, Old Navy and Target. (Though I haven't bought anything new yet for this pregnancy, I just have my old stuff so far.) Target's stuff seems to have gone really downhill though, quality wise (they're carrying some new brand of maternity clothes that I don't love) so I'll probably just stick to Old Navy and Motherhood Maternity.
Advice or tips to FTMs? Clothes wise, I am a dress wearing gal, and I'm pear shaped, so I have a lot of a line or flowy non maternity dresses that I was able to wear well into my third trimester. The only real maternity staples I relied on were maternity tights (to wear under said dresses), 1-2 pairs of maternity pants/jeans (though I ditched those in the 3rd tri), plain, fitted tank tops to wear under dresses that suddenly became very booby/too low cut, maternity leggings and maternity workout pants. Everything else was just normal dresses and a handful of maternity dresses that I treated myself to. This time around I'm going to treat myself to some new staples to replace those that have worn out, and 2 nice maternity dresses for summer/early fall, since it stays hot here in LA until late October and I'll be well into 3rd tri by then.
Fitness wise, my advice is DO NOT stop exercising in the first tri. I basically skipped all exercise from weeks 6-14 with my first pregnancy because I was so sick and it was SO hard to get back into it in the second tri. Even if it's just walking, even if it's just 20 minutes at a time, try to do something to stay active every day because it is hard if you stop for many weeks and then try to start again. (Obviously, exceptions for any serious health concerns or spotting or bed rest!)
Any other plus size moms to be here? Me!!! How are you doing with activity and nutrition? Right now I am sucking it up. My activity level is non-existent since I am on modified rest due to bleeding. I'll be honest that in this month of waiting to try and figure out what is going on I am been grief eating. My husband and I talked about it and that is going to change. I have been better the last few days so I am hoping that sticks. Are you facing any challenges? I am hoping that we will get the all good soon, but I started bleeding again today so I doubt that is going to happen again any time soon. With my son I had horrible MS and lost about 20 lbs during first tri, this time I have very little MS so I am wondering what that is going to do to my over all weight gain. Any good places to get maternity clothes? I really struggle to find maternity clothes because not only am I plus sized but I am 6' tall. I got old navy jeans last time and I could never get them to stay up. I am going to try side panel this time otherwise but buy some non maternity fat pants. Advice or tips to FTMs? Try to find a healthy balance between monitoring your weight gain but not becoming obsessed about it. My first pregnancy I lost 20 lbs in my first tri then gain that back plus 5 lbs during my pregnancy. My Dr. at the time was very hard on me about gaining that much (personally I did not think that gaining back those 20 lbs should count against me) and it created an obsession.
How are you doing with activity and nutrition? Activity isn’t where I’d like it to be, but I have a coworker who’s committed to walking with me. Nutrition is hit or miss right now - I don’t have much of an appetite BUT when I do eat, it’s not always the best stuff. I try to bring fruit and stuff to work. Are you facing any challenges? Not as of right now. My weight was the same at my 5 week appointment as it was at my yearly gyno appointment in February which the nurse said is good, so yay! Any good places to get maternity clothes? I’ve been looking at Old Navy and I got some clearance jeans at Target. Old Navy clearances out any returned maternity clothes so I always check the clearance rack. Pink Blush looks like it has cute stuff, and Loft too (I’m about a size 18 in most things).
I'm going to check out clothes at Old Navy tonight. I got a really cute black romper at Target last night but it was the only thing I like at all there. I'm a little early buying, but we have a beach vacation coming in a couple weeks and I'd rather be comfy in loose maternity clothes then trying to fit into too tight regular clothes.
How are you doing with activity and nutrition? Getting better . Want to get back on stationary bike but I'm so tired . Are you facing any challenges? I'm high risk due to weight and Ama so I'm nervous. I quit smoking so I'm going a little crazy. I drink coffee or tea for energy in the morning but have aversions to both right now so I'm ready to faceplant half way through the day.
Any good places to get maternity clothes? I plan on buying some dresses from torrid. So glad you all reminded me of old Navy .
Advice or tips to FTMs? Change your diet and reduce sugar now .Change to wheat bread, brown rice. Gestational diabetes was a punch to the gut when I had to instantly change everything I had been eating all that time. Watch what you eat now so it doesn't hit you like a ton of bricks if you have to change your diet abruptly later on .
How are you doing with activity and nutrition? right now, activity is sooo limited. But I’m also not eating much or keeping much down. Are you facing any challenges? I’m insanely worried about weight gain. Both pregnancies I gained. With DS2 it wasn’t as bad, but I never lost the weight from DS1. I ended up gaining after I DS2, due to finally being able to eat after having hyperemesis my entire pregnancy. Any good places to get maternity clothes? I love motherhood. Target was a go to, but they dont have much now. Advice or tips to FTMs? be gentle on yourself. I ripped myself apart over it, which caused me to emotionally eat even more.
Pretty bad so far mostly because I never want to eat and when I do it's only snack things because after a few mins I'm just not hungry or feel like I'm gonna vomit I try to get out and walk down the road visit my dad or husband and work and head home but most days I'm still just exhausted bring on the energy please haha
Are you facing any challenges? Nothing really apart from the morning sickness my midwives have said that as long as u can get something in my stomach it's better than nothing I am planning on making healthy meals once I'm over the nausea
Any good places to get maternity clothes? No clue haha I live in new Zealand my go to would probably be the warehouse Advice or tips to FTMs? My mother and my midwife have said to me in the first trimester just eat what you want when you can chances are it's just gonna come back up
How are you doing with activity and nutrition? Not so great. I was active before my + test with Zumba but haven't gone because I'm chicken **TW-- since I had a MMC last time. Even though I know Zumba won't dislodge the baby I'm irrationally too scared.** It has just gotten spring/warm enough outside to start walking again, so I hope to start that again this week and maybe go back to Zumba in 2 weeks.
Are you facing any challenges? Just anxiety. Also high risk for weight & AMA
Any good places to get maternity clothes? Haven't looked around yet. Just living in t-shirts & yoga pants & LuLaRoe Carly dresses.
Today is the first day in a little over a week that I've tracked my food. No work out today because I didn't have a relaxing weekend, so I'd like to just sit for a bit tonight. I plan to track again tomorrow and go to the gym.
This is my first successful pregnancy so I was wondering when you all started to show?! I've read that as plus size mamas we show later but I can't wait to start showing

In my first pregnancy I was a size 18/20 and carry a lot of weight in my mid section. I started showing in my 5th month. I'm a 22/24 now so I'm curious about when I'll show.
