Re: Plus Size Mom Check in 5/09

  • Due date / how far along are you;
    still due 1/7. I am 5+2 today and hope to have due date confirmation at my sono on Friday!

    How are you feeling (anxiety / symptoms);
    Anxiety definitely up a bit. My fat cat pounced On my belly last night, precisely where My uterus is. I immediately googled cat pounce on belly during early pregnancy and the internet tells me I should be fine.  Will just make sure to be more aware of his body in the future!

    Feeling cold, exhausted, irritable, bloated, boobs are ginomous (I was a 40H before this soooo I am kind of scared for how big these will get!) and my butt hurts from the progesterone shots which have now gone on for about 2 weeks longer than they ever did when I was in TWW. I’ll take it though!

    Questions / comments / concerns;
    Starting to come to terms with the fact that I’ll not show as early in my pregnancy as some thinner women. I know it’s a reality. Maybe I’ll just use it as an excuse to not have to constantly suck in my belly fat! I can’t wait for the belly!  I’m 5’7 and about 230lbs, size 18. I carry most of my weight in my boobs/belly.

    Any S+TM Mom’s here? When did you show? Share size/body type if you feel comfortable.

    My wife and I have conceived a babe with my body and frozen donor sperm through IUI, with medication support (clomid, ovidrel, and injections of progesterone)

    IUI #1, #2, and #3: Dec 2017, Jan 2018, and Feb 2018 - all BFN
    HSG Test: April 2018 - all clear!
    IUI #4: April 15/16, 2018 - BFP!! EDD: Jan 7, 2019

  • Due date / how far along are you; 4w something. I'm not longer committing to a day.

    How are you feeling (anxiety / symptoms); I'm a mess. Just all the time. Every time I go to the bathroom I think this is it. Every time I feel a twinge or a slight uncomfortable moment I feel like it's the end. So I'm an anxious mess and I will be until this baby is delivered.

    Questions / comments / concerns; I always have the same concerns. (see above)

    @rooonilwaazlib we are almost the exact same size but I would say with my daughter I started to be obviously pregnant at 20-23 weeks. Much sooner with my son.

  • @kariann323 Solidarity sister. I think we're due date twins and with the pgal brain I am just a hot mess. I've been on the verge of tears because yeah our husbands can say that kind of stuff but it's not that easy. I try to tell myself that today I'm pregnant and I love my baby but it doesn't help as much as it used to.

  • I'm 5'5" and was 225 when I got pregnant with DD. I actually felt WAY more confident about how my pregnant body looked than my non pregnant body. I carry most of my weight in my lower stomach but since baby is upper stomach you could visbky tell I was pregnant by 24 weeks. If you knew me you could tell around 18! Don't feel like you can't be cute and pregnant just because you are plus sized!

    I'm about 20lbs heavier this time so I am worried about how that will affect things since I loved the way I looked last time. But I can't change it now so I'm just trying to work with it!

  • Due date / how far along are you;

    5+5, EDD 1/4

    How are you feeling (anxiety / symptoms);

    I'm feeling so anxious about gaining weight this pregnancy. I'm 5'8 and was ~200 when I started TTGP 3 years ago, but PCOS and 2 years of fertility drugs has pushed that to 235. I did manage to lose 10 lbs from my peak weight before I started IVF though.

    I haven't gained any weight since starting the IVF, thankfully, but the bloating is intense.

  • @AshVA YES! the bloating is so real!

  • Due date / how far along are you; think I’m due around 1/6/19, so 5+3

    How are you feeling (anxiety / symptoms); PGAL has me worst-case-scenario-omg like some others here.

    Questions / comments / concerns; anyone else thinking of using a midwife service vs doctor for delivery? I am a little concerned about being ineligible for that due to size (5’8” around 220) but really would prefer to use a midwife group.

    I started with a midwife for my daughter. I was 5'5 and 210 and there were no issues. I'm now high risk so midwives are a no go for me but I think if you want to then you should. Don't let your size stop you.

  • @Kabazaba I definiely plan to use a midwife.  The hospital I will use, and the OBGYN practice I use both employ midwives alongside MDs.  It's awesome.  They have full hospital priveledges and it's one of the only hospitals in my area with all private rooms! When I'm further along, my wife and I will go to a "meet the midwives" night they hold once a month at the hospital to get a tour of the place. I'm really excited!

    I have had midwives for babies 3, 4, 5, 6 and this one. Had planned home births with the last two babies actually. And I’m just over 200-lbs. I had no risks that prevented me from being able to use midwifery services. Your size isn’t a legitimate, medical reason for them to not have you as a client, not if you don’t have other concerns.

    Can’t hurt to ask around.

  • Thanks for the feedback! I went to a midwife group open house in february, before my MMC, and loved the group.  Because it was a public setting, I did not address the specific concern with any of them. There is anothet midwife group in the DC area that is notorious for only excepting women in “peak“ physical condition.  I have been waiting to call the midwife group whose open house I went to until after my first u/s this time around. @roonilwaazlib the group I’m looking at is similar - they will do home births but also have hospital privileges at a really nice hospital near my house. My SIL has done 2 home births (#hippies) which I am not interested in for myself, but would like a less-intervention/medicalized hospital birth if possible. Midwife at hospital seems to be the best of both worlds :)

  • @kabazba exactly!  In a perfect world I'd love a home birth but I know the anxiety of something going wrong will eat away at me and I am better off in the hospital.  At least if the midwives at the hospital run into any issues, they can always call upon the MDs who are right there. But I know the midwives are fully enmeshed into my hospital's OB department and they work seamlessly with the doctors.  It gives me the comfort to know I can have as natural and as few interventions as possible in our birth experience, but only be seconds away from people who can help me if there's an issue which requires a different plan of action.

    Hi all-

    I’m new to the group and was so excited to see this thread.

    How far along are you: Still pretty early, 4+1

    How are you feeling: So far so good, for the most part. I did have what I think was food poisoning last night so that was a little terrifying but all seems to be okay today. My biggest anxiety is that my DH works in law enforcement so when I got sick last night I couldn’t get ahold of him for nearly 7 hours. This didn’t used to bother me but I’m seeing now how scary that might be if something happens.

    Other comments/questions/concerns: I’m 5’8”, 220 lbs and a size 18 so it sounds like I have a similar build to some of you. I’m a FTM and really excited to get to know you all more in the coming months!
  • Hi @Knottie37748972 ! I’m glad you’re joining us. Can I make a suggestion that you change your username? It gets really difficult to get to know / tag someone with the Knottie usernames! You have to log in to the knot from a computer to be able to change it!

    Ah, thank you! Couldn't figure out why it wasn't changing from my phone!
  • @toxictoast SAME! The bloating is a very real thing, especially for those of us who already had a belly to begin with.  GL on your first appt and keep us posted!

    I am about the same height/weight... I always said I wanted a "cute" pregnancy belly.... but never really happened. I know, my fault. With my DD, I started showing around 20 weeks.
  • Here's my 16, 20 week photos I took with DD. I think I was about 10lbs lighter here too... so I curious how my belly will look this go around.
  • @rooonilwaazlib Ugh the idea of finding new bras terrifies me. I’m a 42G/40H right now depending on the brand.

    @sparkymcgee So many hugs! TMI I felt a little wet earlier today and I had to run to the restroom right away because I was convinced this was it.

    Due date / how far along are you; 4w3d

    How are you feeling (anxiety / symptoms); PGAL brain is awful. DH tries to be supportive but his current motto for this is “everything is great until proven otherwise and we won’t think about any bad outcomes.” Meanwhile I’m over here thinking of all the bad outcomes.

    Questions / comments / concerns; Just working on accepting the fact that at 5’2” and 240 my pregnant body will not be the cute baby bump and that that’s okay.
    Embrace the body you have. Either way, you are carrying a beautiful gift. GL on your pregnancy. :)
  • Due date / how far along are you: 6 weeks I believe, seeing the ob on Friday and I hope they can tell me for sure

    How are you feeling (anxiety / symptoms); Hungry. I am trying to eat healthy but I feel hungry all the time and that makes it really tough.

    Questions / comments / concerns; this week is dragging on so slow. I know it’s because my first appointment is friday but I wish the time would pass faster.
