Gastroenterology procedure

Hello ladies!  I am being referral to a specialist on Gastroenteogy.  Being 18 weeks pregnant I am so terrified.  Have any of y’all had this during pregnancy?  What will the doctors do to me?  Ultrasound and blood work?  Or any procedure?  Or if they need to do surgery and put a tube up my stomach will it be after my pregnancy?

A lot of this would depend on what you are being seen for, as well as the severity. I'd suggest you get the doctor's information and call and ask them. Only they can tell you for sure. Ultimately though, they will not do anything you do not consent to and will not pose any risk to your pregnancy without giving serious thought to the pros/cons.

What she ^ said. What are you being seen for? Doctors can’t just freely do things without your consent. Call and ask them!

  • I been having pain constantly especially after I eat.  A really sharp and burning pain. My Ob said I might have kidney stones on my gallbladder or a kidney inflammation. So she referral me to the Baylor Medicine Clinic of Cambridge for a check up and I don’t know what else..

They’ll probably start by running tests.

The following is my own experience and should not be taken as medical advice. I am not a medical professional.

Before i got pregnant (the month we were going to ttc actually) i complained of this on going pain on my right side for about 3 months. They always ruled out appendix because i never displayed any of the usual symptoms. An ultrasound showed something in the area so they guessed possible kidney stones. Further scans showed an object in my appendix that was causing irritation and my pain. It was not life threatening at the moment and could have gone longer without any surgery but in order to relieve my pain i opted for surgery that week. They were able to do a laparoscopic procedure and i still managed to get pregnant that month.

Your pain could be something or nothing. Only tests will show that. Again i am no medical professional. Try not to worry too much about the unknown but doctors will follow the necessary procedures for your situation. I hope it turns out to be something simple and minor. Keep asking your doctors questions! That’s the best thing you can do for yourself.
