APRIL FET

Re: APRIL FET

  • Ouch! I never had much soreness with PIO. Make sure to put weight on the side you aren't injecting. Heating pad before / after and to heat up the oil seemed to help a lot for me. Heating the oil, if nothing else made the shot go in quicker.

Crinone and PIO have similar outcomes but doctors/clinics may pick one or another for different reasons.
in my last transfer I used endometrin which is a vaginal suppository. My doc chose it (even though he also used pio) because my cycle was semi natural... because i actually ovulated i had a corpus luteum which was also producing progesterone and estrogen. Because vaginal progesterone  is absorbed directly into the vagina it doesn’t release into the blood as well and less evenly.
PIO because it’s intramuscular is easier to test blood values because it goes into the bloodstream first and because it’s suspended in oil will be more evenly/steadily absorbed.
if your doc expects to be monitoring your progesterone, pio is probably the choice.

@mcgeeva I agree!! I've done vaginal one's too and found it gross! lol Felt like I always had lotion in my panties  :s

@dragonette505 Yes! I read the vaginal one's can cause more cramping and why some doctor's don't use them as much because they want the uterus to be calm. I believe for my one gf it's way she thought she had "signs" from Day 1, when it was just that sort of cramping going on.

  • @suzycupcake I’ve never done PIO (or any IM shot - even my non-Ovidrel hcg triggers I was told was fine to do subq) - only the Endometrin that dragonette505 mentioned.  For my medicated FET cycle, they had me on 4/day, which really made me wish I had the shots instead.  For this last natural cycle FET (waited for me to ovulate - 8 days late, of course), I’m only doing two per day, which is much more manageable.  But also as dragonette505 said, the volume of stuff that comes out of me sometimes is rather concerning after *TW* two losses - but I guess I’ve learned to expect it at certain times of day. Haven’t any experienced cramping myself on the Endometrin though.

  • It seems like I might have a choice then. I'm gonna just tell them that I aint doin no shots and to let that sink in.

The injectables for stim though... those can be done subq? I agree p supps are disgusting, but I'd take those over muscle shots any day!

  • @suzycupcake sometimes they will give you a choice (or go by the option your insurance will cover), but for the most part, I just do what my docs suggest. As @BusinessWife says, sometimes they are pretty specific about how (and why) they stick to a protocol. I would have preferred a more natural fet, but my doc wanted to do something different. It may be my doc isn’t any good managing a natural fet. What if I’d insisted but the cycle didn’t go well because that’s not what my doc is good at? These cycles are a collaborative effort, but your doctor is the one directing. I guess I’d say, just try to be flexible. :) and yes... you’ll do great!!!
  • Thank you ladies. I really appreciate your support in putting my mind at ease. Right now, I'm drinking wine so I'm like, I can totes do that, no problem. Maybe the night of, I can have a small amount of wine to relax lol

@suzycupcake I was never given a choice either. Every treatment I have ever had my meds have changed. I just go with the flow since I figure there is a reason for what they did. The shots I was on with my first thinned my lining too much which is why they changed the drugs. I'd say definitely always ask questions, question things if it doesn't sound right and find out why they want to do certain things but in the end if you got a good doc trust them. I know some have iffy doctors but some really do have great ones that have been around the block.

  • AFM - Regarding vitamins.  I have been using pre natal OTC vitamins, One a Day, but my nurse recommended switching to VitaPearl, any feedback on those?

Question to all - when my Dr called with the beta results, he said he wanted to repeat it 2 more times (Tue and Fri this week) and then he said we can schedule the U/S for next week that I will be 6 weeks.  Is it too early? I thought it was done at 8w.  I don't want to go and not see a HB and not really sure if that is it in terms of U/S with the fertility clinic.  I will ask tomorrow when I am there.

    Have a great week everyone!

@kristimh80 So many of my hair follicles have died over the course of the last 18 years of getting it done that I barely ever have to go anymore ... and as long as you go to a professionally it doesn’t hurt .... that bad.
  • Thanks ladies! <3 I just hope I can ask for another U/S before moving to my OBGYN, which I know will not do another until the 20ish week...or maybe I can use my "I am old" card and they can do more.

@artemis618 I am on Nifedipine 30mg a day and so far so good my bp has been around 130/86. Now I was on labetalol when I was pregnant and had pre-e so I know that drug works as well. I go back to the doctor on friday to discuss my meds since all my sonos came fine. But I know with my history I need to stay on it while pregnant if this works. Did your doc say why you had to switch? My OB discussed with my general pract and out of the two drugs that is the one they picked for some reason this time.

Aw amazing Sono!!!! How far along were you at your first sono and did you hear a hb?

    Good luck to @ndz2018

  • Thanks, ladies!

@tosh24 I believe so - that’s kind of all they’ve done at my last three appointments.

@mcgeeva Ah, good to know about both medications.  At least I am more confident that the Nifedipine is a valid choice :p. Not sure why my RE mentioned labetalol specifically, but I guess I’ll just keep taking what I have till I see my OB.  My BP last night (granted, I’m a little further along than you are) was 103/74 - but I noticed with my first pregnancy (my only frame of reference) that my BP went down a bit in early pregnancy.  I’m guessing the perinatologist will enlighten me since I’m all kinds of high risk.

I’ve had ultrasounds weekly (RE is generally only in my satellite office Tuesdays and Wednesdays) starting at 5w3d.  Again at 5w3d we just saw that the sac was in the right place (not ectopic) and RE said he could identify the yolk sac (I couldn’t see it at that point so took his word for it - was much easier to see this morning, two weeks later) Saw HB the next week at 6w3d - was told normal range for about that point was 80-120 (and not to google!).  Normal range I was given for this week was 120-180.

@mcgeeva Well, *TW* the biggest one is that I only got to 11w5d :(. We’re still working on our first kid - really hoping the third time is the charm!  But that pregnancy lasted long enough that I noticed the decrease in BP (this was before I was on BP meds).

    Edit:  forgot the tag
