January 2019 Moms

Off Topic: Phobia of sleeping alone.

So, I waited a day to post this purely because I wasnt comfortable with saying I was home alone while it was going on (At least, Not to the internet.)
I have discovered with this pregnancy that I am afraid to sleep at night when my DH isnt home.
We dont live in a bad neighborhood, We have an alarm system, and all doors and windows where locked, but I was just so afraid... I was just wonering if any BTBD moms have experienced anything like this during pregnancy, Because I've never been afraid of sleeping alone and I dont really know why it started suddenly.
We also have 3 cats and a dog, Ontop of  The alarm, Locks, And decent neighborhood.
I Kinda need to know if anybody else has experienced this and if they have; How they fixed it, Because DH will be leaving again in a few weeks but he's going to be gone for 4 days that time instead of overnight.

My H travels a lot for work.  I am generally pretty uneasy about sleeping without him home.  I actually feel like it was better than normal for most of my last pregnancy.   I think I was just so tired for a lot of the pregnancy, that I fell asleep easier.  Maybe that will help you too?  I feel like early pregnancy is full of new anxiety, so it's understandable to be a little uneasy.  I hope it subsides soon!

It's just so stressful, I came to the conclusion while i was in the bath (dont worry, It wasnt hot.) that it's because like.. If anyone hurts me, They're also hurting a whole other being who is entirely unable to protect themselves.
Luckily, My DH doesnt travel often, He just travels when colleagues invite him to go with them and things like that, So.. Golf, Confrences, Generally things that'd bore the socks off of me, So I just kinda dont go,And, I Mean; we have motion sensors in every room and sensors on every exterior door and window, Which immediately alert the police if the alarm is tripped... So realistically, I shouldnt be concerned at all, Especially since this is grouped with various cameras, But I am, Because the mind can be cruel.

  • Our house is really secure too, cameras, flood lights,  locks,  sensors,  dogs,  good neighborhood, our neighbors all have the same set up, doesn't matter,  I never sleep as well when MH is gone.  The only thing that keeps my mind calm is that our dogs bark at even the smallest noise and if I'm alone and they are being chill then I don't have anything to worry about, which they usually are.  I keep my keys next to my bed because you can set your panic button off from your bed which is a pretty good signal to your neighbors that something is up and to check on you.   Are you close with your neighbors?
  • @galactickates Unfortunately, I'm not. We dont really speak, Most of the people in our neighborhood are kind of older and prefer to stay to themselves.
