I have my first appointment tomorrow morning at 8:30AM! I'll be 4w1d. I'm surprised they have me coming in that early and not waiting until 6wks like they normally do. I'll definitely update with what they say!
My wife and I have conceived a babe with my body and frozen donor sperm through IUI, with medication support (clomid, ovidrel, and injections of progesterone) IUI #1, #2, and #3: Dec 2017, Jan 2018, and Feb 2018 - all BFN HSG Test: April 2018 - all clear! IUI #4: April 15/16, 2018 - BFP!! EDD: Jan 7, 2019
My OB appointment was good! Of course it wasn't that interesting. Took a lot of blood, and went over the do's and don't's and talked about my first pregnancy and thoughts on what to expect. She tested my HCG and progesterone. She said we will know results in a couple days. She is also testing my Thyroid levels as I have had issues in the past.
hCG blood draw in the morning. Also meeting with the doc since it's coming on the heels of a loss. Can't decide if I should push for an early u/s or not. **Trigger warning loss in spoiler**
Was diagnosed with MMC during my last pregnancy when we went for the 10 week u/s and didn't get a heartbeat. SO, I kind of want an early u/s because I want to make sure it's not a MMC; BUT I also know the earlier the u/s, even if healthy, I may not hear the heartbeat due to being too early -- which would probably be devastating even if everything else looked ok. UGH LIFE WHY YOU SO FULL OF HARD CHOICES.
@Kabazaba It’s such a hard choice to make! I originally thought I maybe wanted less monitoring this time but then my OB called me for an appointment next week and I took it. I had weekly ultrasounds with DD and it was reassuring but also stressful. Maybe go for a 7 week one since that will maybe be a bit more conclusive? Meaning you should most likely see a good strong heartbeat then.

I had a urine test at the clinic this week which confirmed the pregnancy for them. I have a consult with my new OB tomorrow to talk about some medications I was previously taking and decide what to continue and what to replace with something else. The made it clear this wasn’t a full OB intake so no bloodwork or ultrasound, but hopefully in 2-3 weeks they will see me again!
I had an hCG draw today. I was not checked for progesterone? Is that something I should have checked? hCG came back 580. They want me to go back Monday 5/7 for another draw to check for continued improvement. They are watching me very closely since this is after 2 back to back losses.
Here is an update: My Dr personally called me to congratulate me and to discuss my worries. She said they are going to keep monitoring my HCG levels to make sure they are doubling. She said that I need to wait until my HCG is at 2500 to see a fetal pole, because even if they see a sac it doesn't necessarily rule out an ectopic. She needs to see the fetal pole before we are out of the woods. I honestly feel better hearing it from her, and knowing they are going to keep track and monitor me. That also makes a lot of sense. I know what to look for as far as symptoms go so I am ok with this. Honestly just hearing from her makes a huge world of difference. My Dr is seriously so awesome.
@galactickates that is great that you like and trust your doc! I can't wait to graduate from the RE office, they haven't been great with communication. My appointment this week is hcg Thursday a.m.
@thetwistedwillow I don't have a particular brand recommendation but know you can get progesterone cream at most drug stores. I hope they call you back quick to get you a prescription. You likely know this but levels can vary a lot woman to woman and pregnancy to pregnancy. Fx for you. @angheat That’s a great initial hCG. It's possible they tested progesterone but didn't give the result. Progesterone slowly rises in early pregnancy. If you have had losses, ask them to check your progesterone when you go in again. There’s continued debate about whether low progesterone is the chicken or the egg in pregnancy loss. Studies have been mixed on whether supplementation helps. That says my RE has me use very sexy suppositories jic because of my loss history. @galactickates I’m glad that your dr is giving you personalized care. It is so important to have someone who listens and who you trust. When will you go in for betas?
@zamora_spin - I went in today. I'm at 102, but I ovulated on the 17th. She wants to see 204 on thursday and she mentioned doing one on Monday and then she'll reevaluate.
@galactickates By my rough math that means you were only 14dpo yesterday right? And you got your first BFP at 11dpo? So implantation likely happened only 2-4 days before that. Don’t know what HPTs you were using but I’ve had FRER turn light positive when my blood level was only 4.9 (and even cheapies like Wondfo will show a light but clear positive well under 20 hCG) and now you are up over 100! That’s great! The biggest thing is to see them doubling every 2-3 days. I think if you go by LMP it will seem like you are behind (although I think average during week 4 is anywhere from 5-500). We have same date of LMP I think but I O’d on April 12 and am 20 dpo.
2nd round of bloodwork today - my progesterone was 25 and my HCG was 277! They wanted to do my sono the week of the 14th but I'm going to be away for work then, so I asked if it could be done on the 11th (next fri - I don't want to wait until after I get back!) I know I might not hear a heartbeat at that point but I'm still excited to hopefully see some alien creature growing inside of me!
Got my bloodwork back - HCG at around 295, doc thinks it's a bit low so wants me back tomorrow and Monday to track its increase; progesterone looking good over 17. Fingers crossed that levels are doubling and by Monday I'm over 1000, which is what Doc wants to see. Also @BitterBetty12 - doc agreed with you and set up a 7 week u/s! Already can't wait for that appointment.
@BitterBetty12 - Hard to tell because this was my first full post-MC cycle and my first time temping and I *SUCK* at it. Based on my cycle before, I was 18 DPO, based on FF guess, I was 13 DPO.
Update 2! - My Dr office just called 239! We were going for at least 204 so I'm right on track! I go back on Wed for another hcg draw, based on that number they'll be able to figure out when to schedule my U/S!
I go for an HCG draw tomorrow at 0630. My first draw on Tuesday was 91 and I was 11 DPO (my estimate). To put it into context, the beginning of March I was pregnant and my first HCG draw was 15. I'm praying my numbers have doubled tomorrow.
Finally got a call for my blood work! My TSH is too high for pregnancy, so I am starting Synthroid. I've been hypo before so this doesn't surprise me AT ALL. I had a whole issue with my Rheumatologist diagnosing me then deciding 9 months later that I am no longer hypo. Which makes NO sense. I also recently went on Armour Thyroid, but had BAD side effects, (major migraines, diarrhea). But I know my body can handle Levo, so I am good with that. I go back in 4 weeks to test my TSH to see if this is a good dose for me.
hCG was 404 (blood drawn at 4w1d). She said that was in a good range (this is the first time I have ever been tested for hCG, so I don't really have anything to go by.)
@Whitmore1027 - they say for around 4 weeks, your levels should range between 5-426 miU/ml. So you're towards the higher end of that range, which is good! Are they going to do a second beta to see how it's doubling, or is your OB satisfied with your levels and not doing a second? (Or did you already have a beta and I missed it? bad friend if I did!)
@catlady2015 Thanks for sharing the range! That's awesome! They didn't mention getting another one done, so I assume she is confident enough that she doesn't think I need another. Which, I am okay with.
@beachmama I got spoiled because my RE's office has a quick turnover for HCG results. Today's draw was the first time I didn't hear back on the same day. It will be a long weekend for me, too. Hopefully we both get good news.
I had my first beta drawn this AM and its was 587. I am 4 weeks today. I go back for another check on Monday morning. I got the official "Congrats your pregnant" call from the fertility clinic and the nurse just sounded bored. Got me a little annoyed.

Does anyone have a recommendation for effective OTC progesterone that I can get tonight, until I can get another appointment?!
