  • DD is waking up from her nap and I think we’re going to head over to the boardwalk and maybe aquarium! Tomorrow I’ll be doing some yard work at our new house! We have so much to do before we move in next month.

  • Anybody affected by the closing of Bon-Ton department stores? Our local Younkers stores are closing, which is bittersweet, since I grew up shopping there and even worked at one for a couple years. Anyway, I’m debating on going to one today and checking out the liquidation sales. The really sad part for me is having to purchase makeup elsewhere. We’ve got Dillard’s and Von Maur nearby, but it won’t be the same. *le sigh*

@BitterBetty12 Have fun on your outing! I’m sure DD will love watching the fish. :)

@catlady2015 Congrats on the new house! When do you guys plan to move in?
  • I made an appointment to talk with both an OB and a Midwife today, That was exciting. I figured i'd pick the best one of each and then see which I preferred since I honestly dont have any preference.

I'm starting to design my pregnancy update boards that I will be using for Pinterest, That's also pretty exciting, Even though I think I'm gonna hold off until about 8 Weeks to start doing them.

Also; If anybody has any tips on hiding a mini bump until the second trimester, Let me know now so I can prepare. We're not telling my job or the majority of DH's job until I hit 13 weeks and I'm fairly petite and small framed (5'2, 34B/C Bra, 35-ish inch hips.) So i'm kinda preparing to be a beached whale by the end of this.

  • @claracloverf honestly there usually isn’t much bump to worry about during the first trimester. It takes about that long for the uterus to get above your pelvic bone and produce and noticeable difference, some women don’t show until closer to 20 weeks, even petite ones. If you do find it a problem just stick to flowy clothing! I think the bigger worry in hiding things are the symptoms you will likely develop - nausea, tiredness, constant need to pee, etc. and the one that gives a lot of women away (me included although I hope to be sneakier this go around) is the change in diet, especially no more alcohol!

  • My DH is a recovering Alcoholic, So Neither of us drink Ever. I Partially own the beauty shop where I work so luckily I only have to work two or three times a week (and sometimes less depending on if my other co-owners are  working since there are 4 of us.) but It's still a concern because after what I mentioned in my last post, I dont wanna say anything to family and friends until 13 weeks or at least after we have done the Chromosonal testing for Trisomy (Which I think they do at like 12 weeks? ) among other things. It's just kinda something that both DH and I feel is right for our Growing Family and if the beans got spilled before we knew if there where any defects that have appeared in the past, I'd be devastated.

  • @dubcompanion That entire paragraph was a foreign language to me :D . Bon-ton? Von Maur?! I’ve never heard of these places! I have heard of Dillard’s but I don’t think we have any nearby. If you go I hope you find good sales! DD LOVED the aquarium. It was so much fun seeing her actually watch the fish and interact!

  • @BitterBetty12 I went and stocked up on some skincare products! I didn’t go too crazy because I started feeling tired and a little queasy. I’m chalking it up to minor pregnancy symptoms but also lugging around a 27-lb baby in the heat. :D I can already tell this pregnancy will be interesting, what with having a busy toddler to also care for. So glad you and DD had fun at the aquarium! We live within driving distance of the Omaha zoo, and I plan to take DD there at least once this summer. I can’t wait to go!

@claracloverf I am 5’1 and have similar dimensions as you. And yep. I was a beached whale last time around. ;) But rest assured, you won’t need to do much to hide anything at 13 weeks. Flowy tops and forgiving pants will be key, mainly for your comfort. The bloat is realer than anything for the first 15 weeks of pregnancy.
  • @dubcompanion - ME! Our Elder-Beerman is closing! I haven't been, but I guess I should go and see if we have any good deals yet. Also, you live close to the Omaha zoo? My grandparents lived there when we were growing up and we lived there for a few years and spent a LOT of great times at Henry Doorly. We were living there when they opened the rainforest exhibit!!

@claracloverf - I'm a little bigger to start with and super fortunately I work from home, but flowy shirts and open cardigans/sweaters (especially now while the weather's a little cooler still) I hear disguise a LOT. So do open (slightly baggy) button down shirts.

  • @claracloverf my last pregnancy ended to trisomy 13 at 18 weeks. This time around and we are getting testing done at ten weeks, they said it’s the earliest they can’t test for trisomy errors so you may ask your doctor about it! As for us I’m thinking we are waiting until 20 weeks to tell people.
  • @catlady2015 Currently, Younkers signs say “everything up to 30% off.” Most everything is 20% off and cosmetics is 10% off. We didn’t peruse everything so there may be good deals if you search the store thoroughly enough. My H said to shop smart; liquidators often raise prices and then discount them to make it look like a good deal. Price match your items online as you shop if you go to Elder-Beerman.
Oooh, you’re so lucky to have grown up going to Henry Doorly! The desert and rainforest exhibits are my favorite, although the entire zoo is impressive. I wouldn’t say we live close to it, but it’s an easy drive. Head towards Council Bluffs, stop and eat, then on to the zoo.
  • @dubcompanion So weirdly enough, I’ve been nauseous for the last two days (I threw up yesterday morning after brushing my teeth and this morning completely unprompted). I’m kind of chalking it up to nerves? I woke up anxious today. But same to the whole pregnancy being interesting thing. I was carrying DD around the aquarium and she was trying to jump out of my arms and crawl away and by the time we left I was exhausted! I laid on the couch and watched TV while she napped and had to really convince myself to go grocery shopping when she woke up.

  • DS learned a very hard lesson in playing with helium balloons outside. DH even tied the balloon to his wrist but DS was crying to take it off.

  • We’ve been at wedding this weekend and leaving here shortly. I am so ready to get home but I wish that meant just relaxing once I get there instead of unpacking and cleaning the house and doing laundry

I lost my son at 13 weeks due to the same, We didnt know until they'd ran tests after the fact. I'm definately going to be asking my OB/Midwife when I go to interview them both. Since I did the genetic testing on myself and I'm not a carrier and it didnt show up at all (Nothing did) I've gotten a clean bill of health as far as other pregnancies, I'm just kind of iffy on it, Because even though it's not likely, It's still possible, and honestly I could live 100% without ever experiencing that again, But realistically; It's something that has to be considered.

  • i bought a new cookbook recently because I love to bake. Today I made compost cookies - they have chocolate chips, butterscotch, oats, pretzels, and potato chips in them! Amazing! I’ve eaten 3 so far

  • I forgot how hard the first couple of months are between trying (unsuccessfully) not to stress out over every little twinge I call cramping and not spilling the beans to everyone.

  • @emmaaa Same! I do find it A TINY BIT easier than last time because I am so busy with work and DD and moving. Today MIL was here and was so close to finding HPT wrappers in my garbage can and HPTs under my sink when she took it upon herself to go into the bathroom in our bedroom. I redirected her and I don’t think she saw anything.

  • @BitterBetty12 I *think* my friend whose wedding I was in may suspect since on the morning of her wedding I told her I had to go to cvs and then snuck into the bathroom to test right away and “shower” lol. Not counting the night before when I kept going back to look st my WondFo to make sure I wasn’t seeing an extra line out of hope.

Last time we told our family right right away but this time we are both wanting to wait until our first appointment before we tell them and close friends. And we won’t announce on FB until we find out the sex.

  • #BitterBetty12 I definitely understand we had the testing as well not carriers, however like you I’m iffy. I mean the odds of it happening the first time are slim to none and look how that turned out for us. We had a forced D&E however they said he wouldn’t of made it to 30 weeks due to other issues he had going on and for the slight chance he made it to birth it would be painful and would maybe most likely live for a few minutes to an hour. We also seen three different high risk genetic specialist and that was the best case scenario out of all 3.
  • @catlady2015 OMG congrats on the house!!!! That's so great!|
