I had such a crazy busy week last week I feel like I barely participated. I lurked tons but still missed you all. Especially over the weekend when I was staying at a cabin with zero service or internet. So relieved for a slower work week..I say as multiple business emails flow into my inbox.
@SkilledSailor I was busy last week too, lots of lurking! Sounds like a nice weekend to have some rest and seclusion!
This week is spring break for schools so I'll be seeing lots of kiddos in my office. Hopefully will get a chance to catch up on office/project work too.
Also, this is the second day in a row where our temps are 60+ and my whole house is SO happy. DS would play outside all day if we let him, and so would the dogs! Looking forward to some walks at night after work.
I had a work retreat this weekend then had dinner with my parents where DD was soooo excited to see us! We were only gone for 1 night but we missed her a lot! I have a crazy busy workday today then tomorrow my sister and I are taking our kids away for 2 nights. I am relieved for the vacation but I am going to be exhausted since our H’s aren’t coming with us.
@nlc8424 Yay for warmer weather! How's the pollen in your area? I'm loving our warmer temps but the pollen is so bad I can't open the windows or H will have asthma attacks.
@yosemite2018 Oh how fun! Where are y'all going with the kids? Hopefully it won't be too exhausting without your H's.
@SkilledSailor eh, allergies are not doing so hot right now. Although my weather app says there's no pollen I don't believe it haha. Poor DS has got some snot, coughing and eye goop from I'm guessing allergies, I was really hoping he would be spared! I've got a call in to our pediatrician to find out recommended allergy med and dosing.
@yosemite2018 that sounds nice! I'm sure it'll be tough without your H there to help out, but you're probably more capable than you know! Hope you and your sister have a good time!
@SkilledSailor Hope you had a relaxing stay in the cabin! Was the weather nice enough to get out and go hiking? @nlc8424 We are loving going on walks after work, too! Even 15 or 20 minutes just feels so nice. @yosemite2018 I hope you have fun on your vacation and that the kids sleep in some!
We had a busy but really fun weekend! We went to the Zoo, had a park play date with friends and went out to dinner at a restaurant on the water. I was wiped out on Sunday, though! MH started his new job today and I can't wait to hear how his first day was tonight! My MIL is in town for the night and I think we are going to get Thai takeout.

@SkilledSailor I hope you were able to relax and have lots of fun. This was for one of your friends bachelorette party, right?
@yosemite2018 I’m sure you and your sis will have fun on your little getaway and might even surprise yourselves with how well you handle the kiddos on your own.
We had a very lazy weekend. I was nauseous and vomiting all weekend so I laid around pretty much the whole time. The congestion and headache from my allergies seems to make the vomiting even worse.
@southernlady07@klj0228 It wasn't very relaxing unfortunately. It was nice weather but the bachelorette weekend was not planned well and that became a bit stressful. Extra glad for a slow week and catching up on sleep.
@southernlady07 Yay for your H's new job! I hope he has a good first day.
@klj0228 Ugh I'm so sorry you're still feeling so sick. Glad you didn't need to be anywhere this weekend at least. Any signs of it easing up soon?
@SkilledSailor I definitely have more good days than bad at this point. I am really grateful for that. It’s just the bad days are really bad. I am planning on it lasting the entire pregnancy. If it ends early then it will be a positive, but if not at least I am not disappointed.
FSIL's bachelorette party this weekend. Complete with a stripper coming to the house that I wish I could be drunk for because it already feels awkward watching while sober. Should be fun otherwise.

@DanyTargaryen I haven't had the experience, but even thinking of a stripper coming to a house party seems awkward. Also, upper man thigh typically turns me off, it's just not pretty. Maybe I wouldn't mind watching from like across the room then there's zero risk of accidental ball grazes

I have very limited experience with male strippers but I feel like I would like them more if they kept their pants on. I LOVE a fit man with no shirt on. Love it. But I don't know, I feel like when the pants come off it's not really about MY enjoyment anymore. There was a male go-go dancer at a club once who very gently thumped me on the cheek with his balls (they were in his undies, so not bare) and it really wasn't my thing. I wasn't into it. My sexual fantasies really are more about that buff topless man giving me a 2 hour massage and not so much with getting his genitals in my face. I'll happily pay extra to just sit in his lap and rub his muscular shoulders if he keeps his junk to himself.

Where do I sign up?! I'd be down for this at a bachelorette.

Seriously though, how great would that be? "Welcome ladies! The mimosa bar is over here, snacks over there, and here are Sven, Viktor and Isak and they will be circulating through the room with bon bons and giving back massages. Enjoy!"

So I really did not even know people hired male strippers. I have always lived in relatively remote locations so I would hate to think what kind of male stripper would show up at a bachelorette party.
I just saw that the new royal baby was born. Yay for them! But, how on earth was Kate Middleton able to appear in public just hours later with her hair and make-up perfectly done and wearing heals? I'm a FTM, but from what I'm learning, I would not want to make a public appearance just hours after giving birth. And, I kept wondering...is she wearing a giant pad? I keep hearing that we will all need those. She looked like nothing unusual had happened in the BBC clip I just saw.

Omg I was going to post this exact same thing. The comments and memes being created are hilarious and true. I’m cracking up reading them all. I felt like a truck hit me down there seven hours after birth and she is navigating stairs in heels!! And somehow her face shows genuine happiness and not an f-this, I just want a bed look.
@magnolia209 I was thinking the same thing. With her first two I never even considered the big pads and such. I know she has her hair and makeup person come in and fix her up, but I don’t think you can fake just had a baby pain. Makes me glad I am not expected to walk out of the hospital hours after giving birth looking beautiful and acting completely normal. Good thing Prince Harry never met and fell in love with me!!
@klj0228 I guess it’s official! We are not royal material!
@Lcardinal04 “f this, I want a bed” is exactly what I was expecting to see in her eyes, behind her smile. Nope! Just pure happiness!
I’m happy for them really! I just find it hard to believe that it was “mere hours after giving birth”! That gives me hope though that maybe maybe maybe I can pull it together for my son’s Bris, 8 days after giving birth!
@SkilledSailor we’re taking them to Catalina... and not the part of the island with stuff to do and paved roads. Our grandparents took my sister and I there 3-4 times a year as kids so it holds a very special place in our hearts and will be nice to take our kids there together for the first time. My nephew is only 3 months old and was born on my grandpa’s birthday which makes it even more special.
I saw a photo of Kate with all 3 kids on the day they were born on the steps of the hospital... she looked like she had never been pregnant with George! I mean, I lost the weight fairly quickly but I definitely looked at least 5 months pregnant after giving birth and no amount of makeup was going to get me to look like that. Granted all 3 of her labors have added up to less time than my 1...
Do you all think the royals get like special labor drugs? Or like a birth masseuse Jedi ninja that uses The Force to sneaky massage the baby out? Or are Kate and her stylists just that good?
I feel like her internal monologue must go something like...
"I know this is outright torture. Like actual torture you might as well call UNICEF or something. But listen to me: Girl, you are Princess GD Kate! You just squeezed out another royal freaking offspring. So you are going to put on those heels, and you are going to smile like you mean it! You're a f***king PRINCESS! An actual GD Princess. So get out there, and show 'em what you got!"
I wonder if she had a total melt down before she had to get dressed and ready to leave the hospital. I would if I had to walk out of the hospital hours after giving birth in a dress and heels. I think I'd be ok with the hair and make up part because I would love to feel attractive after giving birth. I imagine there was some kind of mental pep talk like @BusinessWife said.
Also, this is too funny/ironic not to share. As I'm typing this post one of my friends who has a 2 1/2 month old texts me the picture comparing Kate after giving birth vs me after giving birth and showing Sylvester Stallone after being hit.
I am dying here. We went from strippers and male junk to Kate Middleton's giant pad post-birth. HEHEHEHE! I'm stalking her maternity photos and I think I look as pregnant as she did right before she gave birth.
@klj0228 Still pretty awful here, unfortunately I'm still barfing at least every other day and have terrible nausea/food aversions. My doctor told me at my 18 week appt that I haven't gained enough weight (I have gained two lbs) and I was like...what do you want me to do when all food is repulsive and everything except fruits/veggies makes me throw up.
How are you doing? Any respite?
@knitknitread Exactly! Her HG is reportedly terrible, too -- I think she's been hospitalized every pregnancy. I can still go to work if I take my meds and don't eat anything, and I still DREAM of the day my vomiting is over.
@sarah-ruby-21 It wouldn't surprise me if she has trouble gaining weight due to the HG.
I don't know their health care system but based solely on appearances I would assume she had a quick, uncomplicated, vaginal birth, likely med-free (specifically IV meds or epidural) considering how quickly she was in and out of there. If you weren't in labor that long and didn't have to be pumped full of IV fluids I don't think it's that out there to feel ok enough to get through that. Especially with a nice dose of Motrin on board!
I'm sure it's not her ideal scenario right after giving birth but it's probably safer to make an appearance than it is trying to sneak out with the new baby while the news channels all try to get the first picture.

@adirat Are smoothies ok for you? I have some protein powder that's fruit flavored I can recommend if you'd like. Not that it'll help with weight gain, but it would help the fruits/veggies be a more well-rounded meal.
@DanyTargaryen That's what I was thinking/hoping. Our birthing center sends you home as early as four hours after birth and no later than 12 hours. They say it's because your adrenaline crashes after 8ish hours and you'll want your own bed. So I was thinking Kate was probably dreaming of crashing in her undoubtedly amazingly comfortable bed.
@adirat So many hugs. I hope you get some relief. I know that my friends who had severe HG saw a lessening of vomiting about halfway through 2nd tri. They still vomited but it was more like... once a day or once every other day.
Have you looked in to any HG support groups? I know Facebook has a few. I can't recall their names (because I've never felt 'severe' enough to 'go there', but I hear they are very welcoming) but they might have some advice?
And I'm still frustrated on your behalf because of your doctor. You are keeping yourself hydrated. You are gaining. You have found foods that you can keep down. If you tried to eat foods that make you vomit more, then they'd say that you're dehydrated and need to be hospitalized. Ugh. Again, I'm so sorry.

That would definitely help! In and out and home before you actually feel everything.

@skilledsailor Nope. I have a huge aversion to anything sweet (sugar leaves a terrible taste in my mouth that makes me vomit) so smoothies are an issue. Even fruits are limited to acidic fruits like pineapple, green apples and pomegranate. Sweet fruits like peaches or oranges make me hurl. Thanks for the suggestion though. I've been able to eat refried beans or spicy deviled eggs a couple times per week so hopefully I'm ok on protein. (Baby also hates meat...he's a real health nut in there I guess)
@knitknitread Thanks. I'm trying to put her comment totally out of my mind. I actually recently learned from my mom that when she was pregnant with me, she only gained 15 lbs total, and though I was born smallish I am obviously fine. So hopefully this is just my body and everything is fine with baby. I definitely keep down water and stay hydrated so that's all I need to do! Thanks again
@DanyTargaryen I think you are right. She figures might as well get it over with and then she can go home and rest in the comfort of her home. I think they also recognize the media circus outside the hospital can add stress to the other mothers and families there having babies.
@adirat I am so sorry you are still so sick. I think you are doing great with trying to eat what you can. You can only gain what you are able to keep down.
From weeks 14-17 I had some nausea and maybe a day a week of vomiting. I was feeling pretty good compared to the first trimester. Then last Friday afternoon I started feeling terrible again and have had severe nausea and/or vomiting pretty much every day. All I can say about Kate is, she is amazing. I don’t think I will be having a second child because I can’t put myself through this again. The only reason I have gained weight is because I work from home and have had the option to be completely lazy. I think if I had to go into an office every day I would have been so much more sick. Luckily I can just get up and turn on my laptop from whatever is the most comfortable or convenient location.
@klj0228 Ugh, sorry to hear it all came back Friday I keep thinking we must be close to turning a corner, and yet...
I've had a similar thought about whether I can do this again. I definitely understand why you are thinking one and done. I wonder about it myself. (tw for loss) I actually was pregnant once before, last year, and had a second tri loss, and I was just as sick as now and so certain I couldn't ever have more than one child, that first pregnancy. My husband has always wanted two but I was like "this pregnancy is killing me so if you want number two you're gestating it" Then when I lost her, it was so horrible and so dark going through that loss that I basically completely forgot about how sick I was. It's weird because I was this sick last time, literally diagnosed with HG by my RE, but I really felt shocked this time because I didn't remember it was this bad. I think it's like what they say about forgetting how bad childbirth is.
