To Do List

Anyone have an actual list of things they need/want to do before the baby is here? Being past the halfway point, I feel like I need to make one so I don't let everything pile up until the last minute. So I'm selfishly starting this to make sure I don't leave anything out!

Re: To Do List

  • Options
    All the things!
-New subfloor in the storage room
-New/upgraded door locks for the back door
-3M security film for all the windows
-Sell two dressers to make room in what will be the kids room
-Fix the door frame in what will be the kids room
    -Paint said room
-Install closet storage system in said room
-Move DD and kid stuff into said room
...Those are the big ones. Apart from packing hospital bags and breaking out the pack n play for new baby, I think I'm all set with the little things.

    The tops for me are:
-get the spare room downstairs cleaned out to turn into toy room for my son. So there is room in the living room for the swing and pack and play.
    -redo the nursery
The second closet needs ripped out
        New flooring/carpet
        Paint
    - find a dresser for my son because his has the changing table top on it, so it will go in baby’s room

I already have all her clothes washed and folded.

By June my son’s room was ready and he wasn’t due until September.  My husband is dragging his feet this time around and I am not a fan. I am a big time planner and told him I want the room done by the end of June, in his mind he has until the middle to end of July to get the closet out and flooring done.
  • Options
    EVERYTHING here!
*replace carpeting upstairs in the hallway and two bedrooms
    *declutter house
    *deep clean house
*buy everything except swing and exersaucer
*get Muffet's room done, she got a new bunk bed that needs to be put together
    *paint a few rooms
    *put nursery together
I am exhausted just typing all that lol.

I love lists!!! When we're cleaning the house I'll write things down that I've already done (usually things I did a day or two ago lol!) just so I can cross them off. That way it looks like I've accomplished way more than I actually have :) Great thread!

Right now the top priority is getting DS into his toddler bed. He's our little escape artist
Move the crib into our master bedroom
Drag the bassinet / swing / infant car seat / all the things out of the basement and get them cleaned up and ready for baby
Buy this baby a dresser that can be used as a changing table as well
Wash, fold and put away all the clothes
Install the infant bases into our cars (probably wait until about 32 weeks for this one)
    Cook ALL the freezer meals!

@mrsbubbles-2 good one with the freezer meals and thanks @derbysquirrel for reminding me that I need to call insurance about a breast pump!

Not a whole lot. The usual nesting I suppose. We need to install a fan in the baby's room and paint. I would like to change out the doors in there, but not sure if I will get around to it. New blinds would be nice. I'm so chillax this time around ... whatever. Lol.
  • Options
Finish refinishing nursery furniture (crib almost done but still need dresser and changing table sanded and painted)
    Find and meet with pediatrician
    Deep clean carpets
    Finalize life insurance
    Order breast pump
    Clean out freezer
Fill in gaps of thing I still need after baby shower in May
    Take birthing/breastfeeding/infant care class

Eek. Overwhelming but the list is shrinking at least!
  • Options
-go through DD's baby clothes to see what we can reuse
-call insurance about new breast pump
-talk to HR about dependent care savings account and FMLA leave
-get out infant car seat, bassinet, swing, rock n play, etc. again
-continue making freezer meals, already started a small stash

The end.  This baby is getting the shaft I guess.  We really don't need to do much of anything since DD is only a year old.  I literally don't plan to do any of this until June/July probably.

I have SO MUCH to do! We have to clear out our storage room and get rid of at least 75% of the storage. Move my 17 yr old into the bedroom we have been piling with storage crap. Move my 6 and almost 3 yr old into my teenagers old bedroom, and make their old room into the nursery. In addition to that I have to refinish and seal the crib, changing table and dresser. Then start getting the room set. There is way too much to do.

    Where do I start?
    NBR:
    1) Paint bedroom
    2) Buy new bed and frame (upgrading to a King. Woohoo!)
    3) Get permission from HOA to build fence
    4) Install fence
    5) Pain living room wall
    6) Plant garden
    7) Weed garden (before item 6)
    8) pickle various things from garden

    Baby stuff
    1) Everything. Literally, everything. Well, except buy a carseat. We did that as our other one had expired.
    2) A bit more specific: Dig out newborn clothes
    3) paint nursery
    4) get a crib, dresser/changing pad, etc.
    5) buy a rocker
    6) Figure out if my pump will still effectively pump
    7) New bottles or recycle?
    8) Pull out newborn toys
    9) Buy sheets and a mobile for the new baby
    10) Come up with some names for the new baby. He can't be called TBD for the rest of his life
    11) Move office to bonus room so old office can be the new baby's room
    12) tell pediatrician that a new baby is coming
    13) and so many more things...

Find a place to live is first on my list. We are moving in late June so at least my house will be deep cleaned then because it won’t be getting deep cleaned again before baby is born. I already sorted DD’s old clothes and got rid of DS’ old stuff, and sold any baby gear we won’t reuse. I’ve got so much on my plate with this move I can’t think about anything else I need to do to prep for baby or else I’ll go into a panic.
  • Options
Just reading the title of this thread made me feel like I might have a panic attack. So that’s where I’m at.

    1) get coverage for my cases, prepare any briefs and motions in advance that I possibly can
    2) move son into “big boy room”
    3) set up nursery for a newborn again
    4) clean house
    5) get my anxiety down a freaking notch

I'm so not jealous of everyone doing house renovations before August. We'll have a pretty different challenge because we're moving cross-country at the end of June. It's been hard to wrap my head around to-do lists for moving and for the baby, so I'm sure I'm missing a ton of important stuff here.

    Finalize registry
Buy anything not given to us
    Pack everything
    Move into new home
Buy all furniture for new home
    Finalize new healthcare
    Purchase and plan newborn photos
    Paint baby dresser
Buy rug and curtains for nursery
    Buy rocking chair/glider
Take infant CPR and labor/delivery classes
    Wash baby clothes
    Deep clean car
    Install car seat
    Pack hospital bag
    Make freezer meals

It's going to be a busy summer!
  • Options
    1. Finish getting DS 1’s room together so I can move the last nursery items back to the nursery.
    2. Get DH to put the crib back together.
    3. Decide on and order breast pump and supplies.
    4. Buy misc baby items.
    5. Find a new daycare provider for DS 2.

For those of you still needing to figure out an insurance provided pump:
Not sure if ya'll have already heard of it but there are online providers that will do all the work for you and talk to your insurance, call your Dr. for a prescription, and send you a pump at no extra cost to you. Some of them cover different things, too. I had a much, much better shake through one company over another, so shop around! Besides a little emailing I didn't have to actually talk to anyone for mine and it got here a few weeks ago. One company gave me a choice between a basic PISA and the cheapy Lansinoh; another had almost a dozen options including the S2. :)
  • Options
I used a company called Acelleron (coworkers recommended it, and they both had good experiences) to order my pump and they did all the legwork. I just filled out an online form with insurance info and my doctors name.

I’m sure that options vary based on insurance, but I had great choices, and should recieve the pump in the mail 2 mths before my due date. It was free, but they did offer extras like purses and accessories that you can purchase also.

We are moving in late June so there is little I can do about the nursery until then but I will want to order our crib, dresser and glider before then.

There are a couple of pieces of (non-nursery) furniture we will need for the new place so I need to shop for that.

We are car shopping and I'm finding it stressful.  We want a 2 row SUV and I'm trying to figure out the best choice to accommodate the infant car seat and possibly a 2nd car seat down the line.  I have been trying to use The Car Seat Lady website to help me narrow it down but its not all that user friendly.  I would welcome any other resources.
