Re: 3rd Trimester Check-in week of April 16th

  • Sorry for delay today ladies! We lost power due to a downed tree. We're back now, thank goodness. If anyone sees this thread hasn't been created by mid-day, feel free to start it! :) Hope everyone's Monday went well. It was really rainy here. I'll be 31 weeks tomorrow! My next prenatal appt is Friday, looking forward to hearing baby girl's heartbeat. I think after this, I'll be scheduled for every 2 weeks, eek! We're painting our nursery Friday too, can't wait!
  • Yay for painting the nursery. What color are you doing? Themes?
Anyone else throwing up again? I have been throwing up again for the past week. Today was really bad and I was super shaky afterwards which was not fun. Not sure if it’s normal or if I should call the doctor.
TTC 4 years. 7 failed IUI's with either Clomid, Femara and/or Trigger Shots. Started IVF journey in February 2017. Polyps removed in May. 1st IVF Transfer September 26th. BFP. Expected due date 6/14/18. Baby boy born 5/25/18 at 6 lb 9 oz. My bundle of joy.

  • @TravelingCouple  Nursery painting is so exciting! You can start putting things away after! Definitely makes it more real!

Well, I guess i'm next according to due dates! Congrats to @rel_1987 on your beautiful baby boy!! I'm sorry the labor went so long but he is worth it!

So I'm 39 weeks tomorrow. I've had a rough past few days..i knew false labor was a thing, but I wasn't aware it was something that could happen night after night and be considered normal. My contractions started thursday night and continued nightly every since. They are pretty painful (wake me out of sleep, I'm definitely making faces and cursing!). They have been between 40 and 10 minutes apart so I'm getting not very much sleep and physically and emotionally exhausted from lack of sleep and pain. I'm also super anxious about labor now that I have experienced the early contractions! Midwife today didn't have much to say, she thinks it will continue like this until the real day. I definitely have been losing my plug the last few days and even had a little blood so now its the waiting game!!

  • @TravelingCouple Yes! What color are you painting?

@Holls214 I've seen a lot of girls in my due date group on FB have this same issue come the third trimester. But if you're concerned, it can't hurt to put a call in to your doctor just to make sure!

@meredithj123 Wow 39 weeks! I've had false labor off and on since 28 weeks, its def frustrating. Hopefully that means you're due to go soon though!

AFM 31 weeks, 5 days and exhausted! We had our baby shower back in Texas this weekend and I loved getting to see everyone but dang, I am worn out! I hated it but everyone kept commenting on how tired I looked lol Well if you were going 24/7 for 4 days while 31 weeks pregnant after traveling, I think you'd be a little wiped too! Have my next appointment Thursday, maternity photos Friday, and last shower Saturday before birth classes next weekend.  :open_mouth: Where is April going?! I'm hoping once we get through the next 2 weeks it'll calm down a bit but then again, that last month will probably drag on regardless  Feeling large now, enjoyed the cute little bump phase for about a month and now I just feel like I'm toting around a pumpkin lol

  • @meredithj123 yay you are getting so close! Sorry you are kind of in a place of limbo... Hopefully they will stop or actually start so you can have that little one. :)
@loverin that is good to hear about the vomiting, at least I know it is semi normal, if not totally annoying. Lol. I just re-ordered my nasuea meds, so hopefully that will help. I bet you are worn out. That sounds like a lot. Don't you love it when people tell you that you look tired? Eye roll. Well we are creating a life and it is bit exhausting... I agree about feeling large. It feels like there is no more room and baby is only going to get bigger from here on out. Ahhhhh.

We're painting neutral colors, for those who asked :) 3 of the walls will be an offwhite, like a super super light grey. Than we're doing an accent wall for the wall where the crib will be in a medium-dark gray. I didn't want a lot of pink, I like more understated colors. The room will also be our office in a few years too because it's attached to our master bedroom. It has a door that closes, but it's still attached to our master, so we'll be moving her into the room where our office is in a few years, and the nursery will then be our office. So I didn't want to have to repaint either!
Sorry you're throwing up again @Holls214 and having an overall terrible pregnancy physically :(
    @meredithj123 You're so close!!
@loverin Ok there are a few things you never say to a pregnant woman and "You look tired" is one of them. What is wrong with people?! Sometimes people just spout things off and I think why would you say that? C'mon! Every pregnant woman is already feeling exhausted, huge, uncomfortable and different in her own body...shower her with compliments, not comments like you look tired. I'm glad you had fun anyway though!!

ETA has anyone heard from @cashewchicken? Did she have her baby?
  • @TravelingCouple - painting the nursery sounds awesome! We're not settign the baby room till baby is here (jsut a nook in master bedroom for now), but I can't wait! We're already discussing the color, and if we should do the whole room, or just an accent wall.

@Holls214 - Not the same as 1st trimester nausea, but the acid reflux got so bad, I get a little throw up if I tip my head too low to the grownd :( Followed by some very serious burning in the throat. And I also still get gag reflex while brushing my teeth - this just never went away since the beginning (and I have 4 differnt tooth pastes to see if something would feel better).

@meredithj123 - sounds like you'll be holding your baby in your arms any day now! sorry to hear about sleepless nights, good luch with what's to come!

@cashewchicken - congratulations! Your baby looks so presous and super cute!! just pure "awwwww...." :) Sorry to hear about the compliated labor, but glad to hear you're both recovering now.

AFM, I'm now 32w4d, and it's getting super real. Stroller and car seat came in the mail yesterday, which is exciting. I also did baby laundry to have everything ready for the hospital bag. Meeting with our doula this weekend to start discussing birth plan. The biggest health complains are acid reflux and swelling feet, but it's nothing new, so I'm kinda just getting used to it. I had some serious knee pain after yoga over the weekend, but that's getting better, so maybe I simply overworked it.
People's comments about "you don't look that pregnant" are getting old. Yes, I know, and stop telling me how lucky I am, because not gaining weight is just as stressful as gaining too much - is the baby growing? Do I have enough amniotic liquid? And yes, baby being all into my organs does take it's toll...

  • @cashewchicken glad to hear from you!!! Congrats! He's beautiful :)

@FuzzyDust it's definitely feeling more real with a single digit week countdown, eek!
  • @cashewchicken Awe adorable! So sorry to hear labor was rough for you. Glad you are recovering and little man is doing well.
@FuzzyDust I agree how more real things are getting now that is down to the single digits. I have been making my hosptial bag checklist. Seems like a lot of ish to bring. I have been buying some breastfeeding friendly clothing as well. Tank tops, light weight robe (since it will be summer), a t-shirt dress thing etc.
Any good finds on things for after baby is here? I am just picking up random crap haha because I don't know what I am doing.
  • @Holls214 I feel like packing the hospital bag is overwhelming me. I had coworkers come by and tell me to pack clothes for baby and me for photos in the hospital! I was thinking that's overkill but I guess I should in case? She said her hospital had this baby photographer who would come into your room the day after your baby is born and sell you photos.

@FuzzyDust Omg I can so relate to those annoying "you look small!" comments around month 7. I was like, gee, thanks for making me feel really self conscious about the baby's size. And now I'm in month 9 and I'm getting the whole "you're going to have him anytime now!" comments. Complete 180. Everyone grows at a different pace.

    @cashewchicken Congratulations! So adorable!!

@TravelingCouple I feel like now that we have our crib set up and the stroller and car seat etc. like things are getting real! That's a good idea to paint the room neutral. Pink is cute but I feel like it can be pink overload for little girls.

@loverin I had my baby shower at around 31w as well, and we drove like 5 hours each way to my in laws. Wasn't fun at all to travel that distance in third trimester so I can relate. You have a packed month!

@meredithj123 You're definitely next!! It seems like the baby will come any day now.

AFM I'm shoveling food in my mouth like I'm preparing for the apocalypse. I am hungry 24/7! I'm not used to being this way at all. And not to mention I'm guzzling water like a camel in a desert. Just so thirsty too. I wonder if this is normal in month 9?

  • So much to catch up on! Yay for the painting the nursery @TravelingCouple! We did neutral colors too.

@Holls214 could it be bad acid reflux? Mine got so bad at times I'd throw up. How's the sciatic nerve pain?

    You're so close @meredithj123 :)

@loverin sounds like a busy April but lots of fun things! I wasn't really looking forward to a shower but now I kind of am as I'm getting closer.

    congrats @cashewchicken, he's beautiful!

@helloworld9 omg I hear you, I feel like I haven't been very hungry most of this pregnancy but this past week I've been ravenous! And of course it's all sweet or carb filled things haha

    @nmtay congratulations!!!

afm, we had a horrible ice storm & had no power for two days...we caved & got a hotel room Monday night bc I couldn't take it.  We're now on a plane headed to New Orleans for my sisters wedding...so excited to get away!
I'll be 31 weeks Thursday. Had a check up Tuesday, everything is still looking good. My rash seems to be slightly less itchy too! I'm sitting on the plane wanting French fries & ranch....
  • @Holls214 ugh so sorry vomiting is back and all of it, so sux!! U definitely feel the nausea is back luckily it's not as bad but still not cute and I hear it's very common.  How is your body feeling? Is your job any easier for u? Hope ur managing ok!!
@helloworld9 since you ladies r mentioning hospital bags I was freaking a lil about it as well but after my hospital tour a feel a bit better.  They show u that each room comes equipped with the essentials even shampoo and a sleeping mask fancy  :D they really stressed just to have an outfit for the baby and a car seat.  I have heard a photographer comes by but it sounded like it's super fast!!  I still feel a Lil in denial that I'm actually getting closer!! My bump clearly shows I am but still!!

@FuzzyDust sorry u were in pain after yoga try not to overdue it! Good for u being able to do it!! Just bending for me makes me feel like I'm squishing the baby each time!  Having the baby in your organs isn't fun! I feel like the baby is trying to kick their feet through my ribs it's nuts and I feel like they have more then enough room to move around

@loverin seems ur post vanished again  :s so frustrating!! Your so busy for a regular person forget the fact that ur pregnant! I truly feel ppl don't think before they speak and really forget what it's like to be pregnant!!
So many ppl have easy breezy pregnancies that they themselves don't get it either!!! Hoping you can enjoy the last shower and then find some time to relax!!  How have the contractions been? Hopefully they have stopped!! That would throw me into a complete panick for sure!! All my mom does is talk to my belly and tell the baby to keep on cooking no early arrivals please  :D

  • AFM: 33 weeks today woohoo!!! It's exciting to be thinking in single digits and yet I still find myself worrying!  I did see my sweet pea who is technically the size of a pineapple today, I don't get these fruit comparisons  :D baby is some pineapple at 4lbs 11oz baby was still hiding so no 3D pic for me which I was disappointed with so maybe next time.  I see my OB for a check next week and gen mentioned the week after that he will do a strep test which means I'm just that much closer.

Funny the girl who hasn't done a registry made it to a hospital tour this week:) it was interesting.  I felt like they spent half the time stressing how important BF is and why u have to do it.  And a lot on natural delivery and the golden hour after delivery but not much about a csection.  You hear so many start off natural and need a csection so I felt they should've explained procedure for both...lucky I was there to keep asking  :D Not that I feel super confident in it.  They feel natural is best which I get but csections happen for a reason.
Its nice they have a good essential bag for each room and shirts for the baby that u just need the outfit for when u go home.  It was fun being around so many other bellys that was a first!!!

The midwife said you should feel the baby kick 10/20x an hr.  If not come to the hospital, Is she nuts? I'm lucky to get some movement but not that much.  That could freak u out too.
All I kno is this kids foot is trying to get out through my ribs it's so bizarre!!!

  • @Hopeful_mom My OB says 10 movements in 2 hours, starting at 32 weeks. I know the further along I am, the easier it is to feel. I feel like I'm running out of room in there, poor babe. I'm glad to hear that the L&D rooms come equipped. I'm like super paranoid about what ifs, like what if my milk supply doesn't come in immediately, do they have formula? Things like that. But my OB says they have everything and not to worry. I sure hope that's the case. She did say to bring my Boppy. And I have heard about a photographer.

@aera11 Oh my yes, the sweets and carbs! I'm so glad I passed the one hour glucose screen.

  • @Hopeful_mom I have never understood the fruit analogies either. Glad you got to see the little pineapple. :) Sorry you didn't get a good picture. 10-20 times per hour? Sometimes he kicks that much and other times he is very quiet. He does get the hiccups a couple times per day now it seems like. I have felt the ribs movement lately- strange huh? I bet being around a lot of bellies was fun. I agree about explaining the procedure for both, but maybe they don't because people will get nervous?! I don't know. I have had a lot of friends who have ultimately had to have c-sections.
@Aera11 Have so much fun at the wedding. Hopefully the weather will be wonderful for you and lots of good food! French fries and ranch sounds delightful. I just ate some cheetos.
My pain is still here and rearing its ugly head. I was up until 3am or so last night dealing with that and insomnia. I just layed on the couch and watched Law and Order SVU. I started work late and wasn't going to work at all, but I had a 2 hour conference call with my new boss, so that was a must. Work has been pretty nice, I think because they have to be with my doctors note and I am still trying to work as many hours as possible.

  • @nmtay congrats on the twins! Love the names and they are adorable.

@Hopeful_mom actually things didn't go that smoothly lol my twins were 2 1/2 hours apart! Labor went super smoothly - dilated nicely and got my epidural around 6 cm so really the pain wasn't bad, I just knew I'd want one for pushing. But then I had to push for 5 1/2 hours to get the two of them out! Apparently I have a small, sharply angled pelvis, and we didn't find that out until after the fact, but that's why it took so long. Plus I had several other complications, so I didn't get to hold the babies right away...the doctor actually said that he would remember my delivery forever because it was so traumatic, and we both agreed that any future children I might have will come via c section. but I did succeed at vaginal and recovery has been surprisingly smooth, so definite success there! Also, the weight estimates we're definitely off. They were within a pound lol but also baby boy ended up bigger than baby girl, while they measured the opposite on ultrasounds.

But they are here safe now and that's what matters most! Also my milk production is insane lol I'm making enough for quadruplets without doing anything to try to increase my supply! So there's a success story to balance the delivery!
  • thanks @Hopeful_mom! our power came back Tuesday late afternoon so I was able to do laundry and pack.  I feel like I get kicked in the ribs too or it's so weird when I think the baby is maybe turning....?  My stomach will got rock hard in a strip across my middle and I think it's maybe the baby's back and butt but I can't tell.  So glad you got your tour in!  That is really the only thing we are doing also in prep.

@Holls214 cheetos sound pretty good too!  I think I will be getting a beignet or three at some point tomorrow haha.  Ugh and so sorry you're still miserable.  Insomnia is horrible too; especially when you're so tired but can't sleep.  I had a few nights last week with bad restless legs, it was so annoying.  My mind and body were tired but my legs needed to be moving...such a bizarre feeling.
  • Hello everyone! I'm finally making the jump over to the 3rd tri board and it still feels surreal!

29weeks with a baby girl and due date is 07/04/2018. I've been feeling pretty good except for some issues sleeping here and there but nothing too bad. I'm enjoying every day of this pregnancy as we were on our way down the path of using a surrogate due to me having lining issues and numerous failed/canceled FETs and decided to try one last FET of two embryos and one stuck! We had even put a retainer on a surrogacy attorney (thankfully we were able to get the money back!).

While I've been feeling good, this pregnancy hasn't been without bumps in the road and issues. At my first tri screening, some of the blood work came back borderline low for a placental protein (Papp A) which meant there could be an issue with placenta function and possibly inhibit the growth of the baby - so I was told I'd get some extra growth ultrasounds in the 3rd tri to monitor that but my OB wasn't too concerned. Then during my anatomy scan they saw an amniotic band near the babies head and there was a concern that it was inhibiting her movement and/or could become attached to her. Off to the MFM I went and had a few scans to monitor and while the band is still there, it's not touching little girl or causing any issues and was released back to my OB.

Had my first 3rd tri growth scan just before 28 weeks and little girl was not as big as she should be (measuring 26 weeks at the abdomen which puts her below the 10th percentile). Back to the MFM I went to double check the measurements and check on the blood flow of the placenta to make sure baby was getting the necessary nutrients. Still measured small but function all looks good. I will now go for weekly scans to check the placenta function and have growth scans every other week to make sure everything is okay. She's still moving like crazy so I'm hoping she will just be on the petite side, which the MFM said is a possibility. The biggest risk is that the placenta stops providing nutrients to baby and I will have to deliver early - which is sort of stressful to think about since we don't have much ready. Had my first weekly appointment on Monday and so far everything looks okay and I'm just going to try and take it week by week. Also got told no exercise other than walking which I'm still kind of bummed about. I had been swimming 2-3 times per week for 30 min of laps and it was such a good stress reliever but the MFM told me no activities that could take blood flow away from baby. I suppose I could still just go float around, but if I'm in the water, I want to MOVE lol.

Doing a girls trip this weekend to NYC which I'm excited about and then next week is my baby shower and my parents and sister are flying out which I am really looking forward to! My parents are buying our nursery furniture for us so we will be going shopping for all that. My sister is also giving us ALL her baby stuff from my 2 year old nephew (activity mats; bottles; swaddle blankets; monitor; ergo baby; little toys; etc) which is awesome. She has a whole suitcase packed with just baby stuff.

Sorry this was such a novel! Can't wait to go back and catch up with everyone's posts this week!

@holls214 cheetos have been my ONE craving this pregnancy - I bought a bag of the snack sizes and eat one almost every day. They just taste so dang good!

@aera11 I get that in my stomach as well - one side will get hard and poke out like shes sticking her butt out or something - it's such a weird feeling!
  • welcome to the third tri @mtpbadger! what a journey you've already had.  I am glad they are watching you closely and you probably just have a petite little girl in there :) what are your plans in NYC? one of my favorite cities!

yes, I think it's the butt! what else could be so rock hard and wide? haha -- I also feel it like that first thing in the morning when I had been sleeping on my side, my stomach is extra hard then.
  • We're going to do all the standard touristy stuff - walk the brooklyn bridge, central park, the highline, etc. My two girlfriends have never done any of that so it'll be fun! I also have a LOT of family that live in the city so may try and meet up with some of my cousins for brunch or something.
  • Oh my gosh plus one for being super tight in the stomach in the morning. I feel the butt or whatever it is as well.
Welcome and have fun in NYC!
  • Hey hey @mtpbadger welcome so nice to see you here!! We've come such a long way it's surreal to be here I kno!! Yay to getting ur retainer back that's awesome!! Sorry things are still making u crazy but it's always nice to get to see the LIL one more! You can always swim like an Olympian in a few more months ;)
you say you're not ready but it sounds like you have a ton of things headed your way so don't stress when she comes.  Hopefully she will keep on cooking and everything will be perfect!
im not getting anything till after my pumpkin arrives so I get the concern with not being prepared but as long as you have a car seat and take home outfit for baby you're all set :)
have a great time in NY!!

  • @Holls214 - I pretty much bought everything I might nead to make healing easier: Thick overnight pads, witch hazel, tucks, fridababy fridet, Dermoplast. All of that will stay at home, since I'm sure I'll be give all I need at the hospital for the say there. And then I also got a cheap-ish cute nursing hospital gown for after the delivery, and socks that say "Ready! Set! Push!" to put into the hospital bag. Haven't really packed anythign yet, but already washed a few little baby items to have options for the going home outfit.
We also got the car seat in mail on Monday, but haven't yet unpacked it. I want to make sure we have it installed in the well car ahead of time.

@nmtay - congratulations!!! Hope you and the babies are doing well. Sorry to hear it was a rather eventful delivery, but it's awesome that you're recovering fast and have all the milk you need for the babes!

@Hopeful_mom - I prefer the "weird and cute animals" comparison rather than fruits and veggies. Like, at 32 weeks my baby is a size of armadillo :D

Acid reflux and the belly tightness is getting old... The constant burning my my throat is wearing me out, and I don't know what else to try.. grr.

  • Oh my gosh ladies, I slept SO well last night that I just had to share..

You all know I've been having heartburn for a while now at night. So bad that I've been cutting out eating after 7p. Well the last few nights, even stopping my eating early hasn't been cutting it, neither has munching on Tums in bed.. It's just always this feeling of acid in my throat when I lie down. So I was doing some googling and came across apple cider vinegar as a suggestion. It's not tasty but any means, but it WORKED. I have not slept that well in months. I didn't have any heartburn all night. I used 1 tablespoon and diluted it in a glass of water. What I read said to use 2 tablespoons but I'll work up to that. I used the organic one with the 'mother'still in it which is also important. I now have my nightly way to avoid heartburn!
  • @TravelingCouple that will be added to our grocery list this week! I’ve had to stop eating by then as well to avoid burping all night and possible acid reflux!

Yall...we’ve hit that stage. (Some if you are already there but it was a funny moment for me this morning)

    The eclipse is happening:

    Me & DH: 28  |  TTC since May 2016  |  DH: Morphology 0%  |  2 IUI's with Clomid - BFN  |  IVF ICSI Sept. 2017
  • @loverin super cute!!

@TravelingCouple yay for good sleep!  R u sleeping elevated? I find that helps too.  So glad u found something that works!!

  • @loverin you're so cute!!
@Hopeful_mom I use 2 pillows but can't do more than that or I have neck cramps. Hoping the ACV continues working!
  • Hi all!! I'm new to the third trimester board.
I'm 28+2 today, team green due on 7/14 with 1 baby (IVF) :) hope to get to know you all well and excited to see what this trimester holds for me.
    Next appt: may (2 weeks)
just had my 28 weeks/glucose test and against all odds I passed!! (AMA, PCOS, Overweight, my OB was sure I'd fail)
might have an earlier ob appt, as I may need to switch practices due to a change in insurance carriers starting in June :( really hoping I can stay with my current OB but she doesn't take my new insurance, so trying to work out an out of pocket payment.
Feeling good overall, a little lower abdomen soreness today, but that's it. Other than that, I'm an anxious mess, which I know is a common thread among us PAIF ladies. Excited to get to know all
    of you.
  • @coco305 I'm just about to post a new thread for this week so come join us in that one!

  • @Hopeful_mom - not really for heartburn, but mostly for acid reflux: I started with activated charcoal (works instantly, but comes back in a few hours), then moved to tums (works quick too, also doesn't last). Then I tried mixing a tablespoon of apple vinegar in a bottle of water and drinking it during the day - it kinda work, but made me occasionally feel like I'm choking, and my throat is closing up. Then last Fri my dr told me to take Pepcid for 3 days. I started it on the weekend, and it's SO NICE TO HAVE A BREAK from the constant burning throat. It works great, but I'm going to stop tomorrow and see if the reflux comes back. The next thing I'll be trying is papaya enzymes.
