  • How far along are you? How big is baby? I am 11 weeks; baby is the size of a lime.

    Any appointments this week?
None this week. Hoping I might hear back early from last week's blood draw for NIPT testing.

    Questions/Concerns/Rants/Raves
DH is still out of town for work. We are on day 4 of 7, so I'm counting the minutes. He travels a lot, but it has been especially hard during the first tri and feeling so sick. My kids have been mostly good though.

GTKY:Do you plan to go on a "babymoon?"
I wish! Everywhere I would want to go seems to be at risk for Zika. We may do a quick weekend trip somewhere close since getaways with 3 kids probably won't be happening after baby arrives.

11 weeks today! Size of a poker chip!
    Any appointments this week?
Nope but hoping to make one to get my hair done! My roots are bad and I can probably get away with not highlighting again until after the baby comes- my hair gets really light in the summer. I may chicken out of hightlights but I need a cut no matter what.
    Questions/Concerns/Rants/Raves
DH has to get genetic testing done because I got flagged as a carrier. He can’t find his insurance card and he’s not on my plan. I don’t think it will be a problem because we are pretty sure his won’t cover it anyways but seriously- you don’t know where your insurance card is? He’s a cop- I feel like he should always have it on him.
GTKY:Do you plan to go on a "babymoon?"
I want to and I think he wants to. Most of our trips are to places warm when it’s cold here. If we go, it would have to be in the summer or over a long weekend in September. I just don’t know where to go though. My parents have a beach house so I feel like it’s redundant to go to a beach in the summer when we have one for free an hour away. I feel like we’d need to go someplace where there’s pregnant-friendly things to do as well.  I’ve never been to Newport, RI so I was thinking that could be nice. But I’ve also thought about just staying at the beach house while my parents go to their full time place and treat it like a faux “stay-cation”. Looking forward to hear other folks plans- maybe I’ll get an idea!!

How far along are you? How big is baby?
    8 weeks. I believe we're at a raspberry now

    The appointments this week?
Yes! I had my first one this morning and was relieved to see that baby has a heartbeat and is measuring right on track. I've been a little nervous because I haven't been vomiting like I have with my previous three kids. So, for today all is well and I will take it.

    Questions / concerns / rant / Raves:
Rant: I'm already poking out.I'm totally with everyone on that thread about bumps being non-existent. I'm sure my bump is all uterus  but I have the taco pooch for sure.
Rave: no puking, I have had some nausea here and there but I've pretty much been able to eat whatever I want, which has been awesome.

GTKY: do you plan to go on a babymoon? Yes, definitely I told my husband we need to make this a priority. It will be small and I'm almost sure local but we will definitely have a hotel for ourselves for a weekend. We would like to incorporate some kind of event but I'm not sure yet. We live in Texas so there are a lot of things within driving distance. I'm hoping to go to some sort of sporting event or maybe a concert but we have completely opposite taste in music.

11 weeks today and little bean is a lime!

No appointments; next is the 30th.

Rant: I'm over this dizziness and exhaustion. Also, my nerves are so frayed. I nearly lost it with DS today because he loves being in the kitchen but I had hot burners and why doesn't he understand I just want him safe and I'm not being mean

ETA because TB ate half my response...

GTKY: Not really planning a babymoon, but we are traveling to VA with DH's family for a reunion. None of his extended family have met DS, so it'll be fun. We are going to go to DC, just is 3 for a bit while we're up there.

    Me: 33 DH: 38 Married: 1/10/15

Children are like casseroles; it takes a lot to mess them up.

  • How far along are you? How big is baby?
10 weeks, baby is the size of a strawberry!

    Any appointments this week?
    Nope.

    Questions/Concerns/Rants/Raves
My nausea had been getting worse this week. I'm a ftm and everyone keeps telling me I'm in the home stretches far as ms, but it keeps feeling further away!

GTKY:Do you plan to go on a "babymoon?"
We don't have anything planned at the moment, but I'd like to. We are trying to save some money and have four out of town weddings to go to this summer, so maybe just a fun staycation at a nearby hotel. I live in NYC so I'm sure we can find something fun to do!
  • How far along are you? How big is baby? 10 weeks, so baby is the size of a strawberry!

I am supposed to have a MaterniT21 draw on Friday, but I just found out my insurance company may contest the charges. Also my blood work came back from last week with me having pretty low platelets so I will be contacting my midwife tomorrow to see if I need to do any follow up.

    Questions/Concerns/Rants/Raves
I was able to take a few hours today and get my hair done. I ended up chopping off about 8 inches and adding some blonde for when Spring decides to show up! It was a awesome self-care pick me up amongst all the yuck of first tri.

GTKY:Do you plan to go on a "babymoon?"
100% yes! My husband and I got away to a spa nearby for an overnight before my daughter was born. I’m hoping for closer to a full weekend away before baby #3 arrives.
  • @ginny_203 how fun! First grandbabies are so special!

@arieselle hope you were able to make an appt. I desperately need mine trimmed. I gave up on coloring though.

@cm716 I’m Texas too. I’m thinking of maybe a hill country baby moon.

@pmforbie my nerves are the same way. My husband is out of town and I constantly feel like I’m about to lose it. Being needed all the time is both wonderful and completely exhausting.

@meg1115 I hope the nausea is over soon. Wit my first, I felt so much better after 10 weeks. Wish I could say the same this time!

@mayday31 love adding some blonde for spring. I bet it looks great!

@wannaflickone it sounds like we live really close to each other. I'm right down the road if you're talking about bulverde/gruene area...

    @Mayday31 that sounds freaking amazing
  • +1 on needing to get my hair done... too bad my next appointment is in June!  :s

@meg1115 what about doing something close by like Fire Island? We haven't been since Sandy but we used to have so much fun taking the ferry out, and it felt like a getaway because it was so different from the city - no cars, just people walking around in shorts and flip flops and a few low key restaurants.

@arieselle Newport is amazing! Doing the cliff walk, a mansion tour or two and walking around the old city with all of its character and unique restaurants is really fun. Adding that to our potential babymoon locales, thanks for the reminder :)
  • @ginny_203 Fire Island has actually been on my mind! I grew up on Long Island in a ferry town so have spent a lot of time there, but DH has never been. He's not much of a beach person, but I think he'd like exploring, especially if we go in the fall.

    8 weeks (8w1d today)

    Any appointments this week?
    Unfortunately no

    Questions/Concerns/Rants/Raves
Looking forward to not feeling like poop all the time. I think I've got some low blood pressure issues going on which makes me feel even more exhausted.

GTKY:Do you plan to go on a "babymoon?"
Nah. We plan on doing a bit of travel this summer but it will be with the kids (either camping/hiking or a reunion and wedding). We can't really afford to do alot of traveling this summer since we're trying to save for a trip to Japan next year.

  • @CanadianGamerMom Japan is amazing!! You’ll love it!

    Nothing until mid May now.

    Questions/Concerns/Rants/Raves
Question: I have a cousin's wedding next week and between bloating and breast size change, nothing fits (unless I want to give her new in laws an eyeful). Is a colourful maxi skirt and plain black long sleeved top with a black blazer for later, too informal for a relaxed garden wedding in the fall? I'll add some chunky old jewelry and nice shoes but I'm hoping it works so I can be comfortable and don't have to go shopping. Also on that note, is anyone else running into the 'needing formal maternity wear' issue this pregnancy? I have another wedding coming in July (which is winter here) and a 60th birthday. Both are fairly formal but I have no idea what to wear unless it's a full gown (which is too formal).

GTKY:Do you plan to go on a "babymoon?"
We're planning on moving soon so DH isn't keen on a babymoon as well. I am though, even if it's just a weekend in a cabin in the bush with some board games and books. We'll see what happens though.

@mrsduddles pink blush maternity has a bunch of really pretty dresses that are wedding-y. My little brother got married when I was 8 months pregnant. My good friend got married 3 weeks later. I got a really pretty dress from them.
  • @mrsduddles I would look for a top that matched one of the colors in the maxi skirt if you plan to do a black blazer as well. A black top and black blazer may be too much black. You may be able to find sort of a flowy top that would tuck in well to the skirt and then can top with a blazer and fun jewelry. I think that would be fine for a wedding.

  • @ginny_203 I'm so excited! We're planning to spend a month there. We have a 30 under 30 goal (30 countries under 30 years old) and we're at 29 countries and 28 years old.

We want the last country for this goal to be a big one. It was between Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, or Japan. Ive always had a big thing for Japan (though I really want to go to the other 3 as well), so the decision was an easy one. I may have to pick your brain when we get a bit more serious with the planning!

  • @CanadianGamerMom I’ve only been there a few times for work so I haven’t been able to do everything I would have liked to do, but you’re going to love it! Australia and New Zealand are on my short list too. Your 30 under 30 goal is amazing! Whaf was your favorite country to visit so far?
