I'm so late starting this and I'm pretty sure it's bedtime for at least half the board already, but better late than never!!! So if you all don't see it till Tuesday or Wednesday or like next Saturday, but you want to complain about a thing or rant or vent as needed, just drop on by! We'll leave the light on.
I'll start by just admitting up front that I'm kinda a dick. I own it. It's cool. So. Confession? Complaint? Random rant? I don't even know- It bugs the ever loving snot out of me when someone starts an aw thread to ask a question either just about themselves or that totally 100% fits in an ongoing discussion thread and their reason is - they are too busy to participate because of the app/website, their job, their pregnancy, their other kids or you know, life. Ummmm.... Everyone here uses this site/app. Like literally 100% of the people participating on this board use either the Bump website or Bump app. It's true! Also (unless one is a fakey fake faker) the members of a pregnancy board tend to be, you know, pregnant. Of those pregnant women most of them will either have jobs or other children. Some of them will have both! Maybe even pets too! Soooooooo...to me saying I'm too busy to be a member of this community and post in ongoing threads or participate in a way to give support or advice to others and I just want my question answered right here right now because I'm pregnant, a mom, have a job, the app is slow, ect... Basically just equals, "I think I'm special and don't want to wait in line with the rest of you losers." We're all busy! It's not a valid excuse. It's weak af. If you are too busy to participate then just freaking Google it or call your doc.
My other moan- I'm gonna have to stop cursing and I don't wanna But my toddler has taken to randomly out of the blue, very dramatically (and musically I might add) saying, "f@#&in s#!t!" Dang it I don't want him getting in trouble at school
@spottedginger Oh my gosh I just LOL...I came here to complain about the app but see you have that taken care of Stupid app. I was able to love tit something but then a pop up ad for cocktails took over my phone. Seriously Bump?! Then three more ads popped up while trying to type this. Back to desktop tomorrow!
Me: 32 DH: 32 BFP #1: 1/23/2012 DD: Born 9/20/2012 BFP #2: 12/30/2017 DS: Due 9/10/2018
Omg this app is being a total piece of poo! Or as my toddler would say, it's "f@#$ing s#&t!" @spottedginger I love titted all 6 of your glitches because I agreed with every single one of them, lol.
I've moaned about it before but I want to participate in a ticker change but don't want to start one. Too worried if it is allowed or if people will participate. And who will do the other 6 days?
I've moaned about it before but I want to participate in a ticker change but don't want to start one. Too worried if it is allowed or if people will participate. And who will do the other 6 days?
It's totally allowed! New threads that are for everyone to participate in are totes ok. I think if you start a tricker change for your day the other kids will get jealous and start one for their day. I know some others said they would want one too. Do it, do it, do it...
100% agree @stothi with your rant. Those special members who state this actually are not special snowflakes.
Also +1 about the ads. For real, this is why I hate bumping on my lap top because of the 10 million ads. I almost wish there was a paid version to get out of the ads.
+1 for the app making me angry today! Yesterday when the ads randomly showed up at the bottom of articles I found it annoying, but not so bad. This morning I wake up and now we have ads sliding in from the side trying to be sneaky?! I understand if they need to help pay for things, but these ads look cheap. You want to bring in some money work with companies who meet needs of your users (pregnant women and women ttc). I probably still won’t click and ad, but at least it pertains to what I am here for.
Totally agree @stothi -- especially when it's something you could google. "I hate the app so I don't use it, but I am apparently using it instead of just googling an answer to my question."
While I agree with @stothi 's rant in theory, I absolutely get behind the idea of having actual threads on specific topics for discussion. If I want to discuss fetal movement, and get everyone's input on fetal movement, I'd love a thread on that. I'd be happy to contribute my thoughts on that. I don't want to have to read through 1000 other symptoms and things to find an occasional post about fetal movement and I"m not going to respond to a post about fetal movement in one of those threads if it's 10 posts back. I'd love to be able to sign onto the board and see actual conversation topics and be able to have an actual conversation about actual topics instead of just throwing out one-off comments into big threads about a thousand different things.
@MandyMost I think that's why I replied to the fetal movement thread, I know it's been asked about in several symptoms/questions threads but I wouldn't know where to point someone to find the information. I'm totally cool discussing specific topics that everyone can participate in and I think it would help general lurkers find information and maybe participate more
@MandyMost I'm actually totally cool with new threads about whatever. (Btw I know my rant seems totally directed at one thread, but it's an in general rant cause it's not the first time I've seen the "I'm special cause I'm busy.") I don't have any kind of a problem with someone, anyone, starting a new thread that opens a discussion (I don't love new threads that are seriously only about the poster, though). I do however get bent out of shape when they open the thread with the whole "I'm too busy for this place and you people story." Just leave that off. Ask the question/start the discussion. No need to declare that you are so much more special than anyone else because you have a life just like everyone else here. Here's where I don't know what to suggest- I get crabby when the discussion/question is something that's already being discussed in a thread, right? Well... Since once can't just do a quick scan of the current thread titles to see what specifically is being discussed cause boob growth, nipple color, fetal movement and nausea are all under when generic thread, that gets tricky I too would rather have more specific threads cause I'm not all that interested in certain topics and find the big catch all threads to be much neater and organized on the front page of the board but then a mess that's hard to get through in the actual thread. Kinda like the living room and the kitchen are immaculate but omg the den and spare bedroom are an episode of Hoarders cause everything gets shoved in there. That being said, it doesn't bother me that much navigating this format and I don't care enough to try and change it > insert big old shrug here.< My rant though truly is in regards to anyone coming on and saying they are so swamped with life because they are doing all the things!!!! All the things that everyone else is doing too... It's not a freaking contest about who's day is the hardest/busiest and the winner gets a freaking ribbon.
Eta: @MandyMost I got side tracked and ranty- I used a ton of words but was trying to say that I basically agree with you too. I like more specific threads also, just don't like the "I'm special/so busy" attitude.
@MandyMost I think that's why I replied to the fetal movement thread, I know it's been asked about in several symptoms/questions threads but I wouldn't know where to point someone to find the information. I'm totally cool discussing specific topics that everyone can participate in and I think it would help general lurkers find information and maybe participate more
I think that's a really fair point. I find it easy enough to find a place to ask/answer questions but it's only because I do make an effort to keep up with ongoing threads. But I also couldn't to save my life tell someone where specifically to go look in a big thread from last week to find the answer to their question. It's way easier to point someone in the right direction when you can say, "oh, go to this thread from last Thursday. It's all about belching in public and how to do it without losing friends," as opposed to,"go dig through the last five weeks of the syptoms thread. Someone mentioned something about it somewhere..."
Just don't ask me how to burp on train by saying "I'm too busy to find out on my own and I hate this website but I'm still gonna ask here while I also backhandedly imply that people who participate have no lives and nothing but spare time cause they aren't as cool as me."
I think it comes down to whether or not a thread is posted by someone who other people recognize. We're at or approaching the half-way point, so I would think most of us would recognize names of people who actively participate.
Idk if there's a way to do quick one-off questions/comments/etc still in the bigger randoms/questions/symptoms threads, but put larger topics that could be their own discussion as separate threads on the main board?
I agree that being "too busy" is a cop out because it's basically saying you want an answer without the participation, but it can be hard to track down what people are talking about when it's all buried in 1 of 3 large threads.

I too would be cool with more threads with individual topics and it might even cut down on the special snowflake threads. I find I don’t respond to a topic in randoms or questions or symptoms unless it was one of the most recent posts, so there are a lot of things I could comment on, but I don’t since I feel like the moment has passed
@stothi@DanyTargaryen Totally agree. It's not the idea of individual threads that bother me, but that it often seems like the person (usually not a contributing member) was not willing to use the search box to try to find an answer first before posting their own thread. If you're not willing to try to the find the answer first, why should I spend time typing out a response to your question? I like the organization of the board, but agree that there are topics many of us may have have questions about/want to discuss that would work better in stand-alone threads.

This is why we had a very serious “use the search function” culture on my previous bmb. Specific threads were more common, but the whole “I’m too busy to google or don’t trust my doctor’s medical advice and y’all have nothing better to do” got flamed hard core, as I believe it should.

Best. Thread.
MyTuesday rant is that there is no room left around here for eye rolling gifs or blunt replies. @stothi I 100% agree with you. My reply last night was so delicate it loses its efficacy.
So last week when my parents were here my dad drove my car one day (just to Lowes and back) so the next day when I got in he had completely adjusted all my mirrors. Took me forever to get them back how I wanted then H drove my car and he changed my mirrors again! I am still trying to get the mirrors exactly the way I like them! My next car will definitely have driver memory.
My other complaint...if there are two stalls to place grocery carts then use one side for big carts and the other side for small carts. Don’t be the jerk who puts a small cart on the side that is clearly all big carts or who puts a big cart on the side with all small carts!
I just spent the entire morning getting the lingering stink out of dd’s car seat straps and reassembling it, then typed and printed and prepped the paperwork i like to bring to this appt for tomorrow, which took all of nap. I still need to shower and have dishes and food all over the counters because i’ve been too focused on getting ready to stop and deal w the normal stuff. UUgghh dh will be home soon, also needing to shower, and it’s a batj night for dd. Ugh ugh ugh

I could care less about getting into board set-up politics. I'm so grateful for this board and don't have any previous experience interacting with stangers on the internet so I am very happy to follow the rules and I am glad that there are more experienced people on here who take the lead with starting threads. It annoys the crap out of me when people can't follow instructions so I try never to comment on those 1 offs. Here is my moan: I do really want to talk about fetal movement! I am so excited to feel it and so far I am feeling nothing! I thought I had felt something really early on. But it's been weeks and I feel nothing. Like that song from A Chorus Line. I'm 18+4 and I totally understand that it is still very early for a FTM to feel anything. But, I just really want to know he is doing okay in there! I'm also super duper emotional. I guess this could be more of a symptoms post, but in my head, it's a big moan! Also, I spent all day thinking it was Wednesday. It's not. It's Tuesday. And everyone at work is annoying the crap out of me!
@magnolia209 I’m with you on the fetal movement talk, but I am so far behind everyone it makes me sad (but excited for all of you) when I haven’t hit a milestone yet. It’s okay for your super emotional to be your moan. I definitely have my emotional days and it is so annoying!
Ugh, had a visit with my regional manager today at my distant hospital that I'm contracted to and surprise, surprise, I've got more work on my plate. The manager is very helpful and easy to approach but I want to cry thinking about working on more policies. I really wish that the people who worked in my position before me were as thorough as I am. Such a pain in the butt.
@klj0228 Thanks! Yep, just having a cranky/emotional day. I appreciate your "I'm with you" comment! I am not normally wishing any part of this pregnancy to go faster, but the desire to feel the baby move is really on my mind!
@nlc8424 Ugh - that's so annoying. I too am dealing with so much policy related inefficiency at work. And getting people to make changes is soooooo hard!
The car seat still smellllllssssssss..,. The sun hasn’t made an appearance on days and may not be back for more days... its magical powers are the only hope I have left.

@jhjocelyn have you tried nature’s miracle? Or baking soda? White vinegar? Sorry. That stinks. Literally. If it is unlivable, Target is about to have their trade in event this week. You can trade in any car seat for 20% off a car seat or booster
@spottedginger Using vinegar or baking soda or pretty much anything other than dawn or johnson&johnson is a no-no from what I’ve read. At least on the straps. The cover I used everything on (because I hadn’t read that part yet...) and soaked in the washer and washed twice then spot cleaned whatever still smelled... then I reassembled everything sealed it in a trashbag w a bowl of baking soda and drop or two of essential oils...took it put a few hours later and all the smell was back. I will mention the sale to dh... we’rr going bu Target tomorrow and this behemoth of a seat will be a problem when baby comes anyways...

@jhjocelyn gotcha. How frustrating. I think the trade in is the 22- May 4? You turn it in to customer service and get a code you can use in store or online in case the model you want isn’t in your store. Then they recycle the seats.
@jhjocelyn I’m sorry nothing is working. I’m amazed Dawn didn’t work. I swear that stuff can clean anything! It sounds like you are pretty limited in what you can use to help clean it.
@spottedginger I am glad you brought up the car seat recycling at target starting this weekend. I saw that earlier online and said I was going to post it here, but then completely forgot.
stothi I will start one on Saturday - my ticker day.
Another moan is I cannot get rid of my headache. It's been 30+ hours of it and did not go away after a night of sleep or naps. Wish there was something more than Tylenol. I even had to call in at work half way through my shift because I could not take it.
The puke smell goes away pretty quick I would say. My youngest car sick puked in her carseat the beginning of holidays last year. All I had was some sort of Amway? clothes cleaning wipes type things and I did notice it for a few days but not too long...

@magnolia209 that's actually a moan of mine too! I have a dang anterior placenta this time and don't feel a thing from baby I'm only 16 weeks so I'm at the end of the month with you @klj0228 but as a second time mom I was so excited to hopefully get to feel the movements earlier this time.
