R/R: rant - it is downpouring here today, and under 40 degrees. I'd rather have snow because at least you can brush it off. Except I'd rather drive in rain.
rave - had a really great weekend with my husband, and he's probably going to be off again tonight because of the rain, so we can hang out again. Not to mention our first full weekend off together fell right in the peak FW.

CS/Q: I'm pretty sure today's going to be O day, but I forgot my last opk at home so I can't use it until this evening.

GTKY: What game show would you be super awesome at?
I think I'd rock Wheel of Fortune, as long as I didn't clam up in person. I'm really good at it at home, lol!

R/R: Rant: No rants today! Rave: We're relisting our house today! EEK! We found a home we like for under our budget and are actually considering getting a renovation loan and doing major renovations. I think we're a bit crazy.

    CS/Q: Nothing at the moment.

GTKY: What game show would you be super awesome at? Family Feud possibly?

R/R: Rant, the weekend was full of DH complaining over what happened with that Jeep. I get it, it sucks, but sitting around moping isn't going to change things.
Rave, today is the first day in the 40s and I'm in heaven. The sun is shining and I feel pretty good today.

CS/Q: For the first time since I started tracking everything in my cycle, I didn't ovulate on CD 6 or 7, which is pretty exciting in my book.

GTKY: What game show would you be super awesome at?
We don't have TV, so I have no idea. Maybe Family Feud? That's the only one I really know of.

  • @fantasyflyte Ah!!!!! So exciting about your time with DH falling right in the peak of FW. So happy for you.

R/R: DH is off today and tomorrow, and starts his new job Wednesday! We are excited for that. He is doing some much needed yard work today, and I am doing random housework. He made pancakes this morning and it was delish!

CS/Q: Temp spike today! I had a positive OPK on cycle day 13 and 14, and a negative today. I think according to my temp spike, and my OPKs, that I ovulated yesterday. Hopefully I'll see cross hairs the next day or two. I wish we BD'd yesterday...but it didn't work out. We will today (I hope), and that's an EOD, so hopefully that's okay.

GTKY: What game show would you be super awesome at? Hmm...I think I have always been good at guessing Family Feud. That would be so fun to be on!

R/R: Rant: I really wish I had woken up to temp over the weekend.  I had been doing a really great job but slept in. I just didn't want to wake H up with the beeping either.  He's an extremely light sleeper.  I was doing so great though  :unamused:
Rave:I'm really happy with our HIO record.  I didn't feel O pains on my left this cycle so I'm really hoping my right ovulates. Keeping my FX.

CS/Q: does anyone else have an SO that is a sleeper.  How do you temp and not wake them up? Do you have a BBT that's quieter?

GTKY: What game show would you be super awesome at?
Let's make a deal, or the choose a brief case one.
  • Month/Cycle: 2/2

    CD: 7

    WAYDTGKU: BBT, CM

R/R: Rant: We had the 8th worst blizzard EVER here in lovely MN. In APRIL! Not ok. On the TTC side of things, I'm also struggling with how to understand my temp shifts. I'm a really light sleeper so I naturally wake up every few hours all through the night, and in the morning I regularly wake up once an hour after like 3 AM. Just to turn over and adjust blankets, and such. But I've had some pretty extreme swings on my chart, and I don't know if this is normal or if all the waking up is kind of shooting the whole thing in the foot. It's my first month charting, so I guess I'll see how it goes and try next month and see if this is just regular for me. I also have a helluva time feeling confident properly identifying the types of CM that these apps ask for.

CS/Q: I guess some of it was up in the rant section. But it's mostly general confusion and not any specific questions.

GTKY: What game show would you be super awesome at? Not really a game show, but I've always thought my husband and I would be great on "The Amazing Race." I'm really good with directions and navigating (seems like everyone is always getting lost on that show) and he's just one of those crazy people who is good at any athletic activity, regardless of whether he's done it before or not.

@babydream0916 -- Oh no! What happened with your Jeep?

@galactickates -- I do this weird thing where I stick my head, thermometer and all, under my pillow and that usually muffles the sound pretty well from him, but I can still hear it go off. Not the most comfy position, but it seems to work ok.
  • @auburnvelvet86 can you post your chart? I started taking my temp the first time I wake up (usually around 3) and taking off the default temp time and I've gotten more solid circles lately.

@galactickates I started doing the same as auburn and temping with my face stuffed in a pillow.

    Month/Cycle: 1/1

    WAYDTGKU: pnv, bbt

R/R: Not much going on. Had a great weekend. Lots of meals out and fairly good weather.

CS/Q: My chart is all over the place. FF thinks I'm supposed to start my period today, but I'm pretty sure I haven't Oed yet. Provided it's the same as older charts when I went off the pill, I should O around CD19, which is still a few days away.

GTKY: What game show would you be super awesome at? I'm going to go old school and say Legends of the Hidden Temple! I wish there were more game shows like that still.

  • @meggyme -- Here it is. There's really not much to it yet. But I'm not sure if these big swings are normal or not. Maybe I was just lulled into a false sense of steadiness by the first three being so close, and these jumps aren't really that big of a deal. I discarded the first one, but now that it's up again, I feel like I should add it back in, since it looks like it might be a pattern for me. I never even noticed the solid/not solid circles. What does that even mean?

  • @auburnvelvet86 DH and I drove to Texas last week to buy him a classic Jeep. On the second day of driving home the tire on the Jeep blew out. We were towing it with our truck. It whipped us off the interstate, un-hitched and flipped, totaling the Jeep and damaging our truck. We had to leave the Jeep in SD. The insurance company is still deciding if they are going to fix it or scrap it. We paid cash for it and DH didn't realize how spendy a 3,600 mile trip would be so now he's stressed and pouting about the financial blow we just took.

  • @babydream0916 - I was just reading that your liability coverage on the car you are driving should cover the car you are towing.  Is that what happened with you guys?  My heart sunk for you when I read what happened.  I'm really sorry.  That is seriously worst case scenario of what could have happened
  • @galactickates Yeah, that is what happened with us. But then the insurance company decided to make a separate policy for the Jeep because having it on the same policy would cause our deductible for our truck to be $2,000. Thank you for the care! It definitely felt like one of those freak accidents. Sadly, I'm not sure that we can afford to keep TTGP right now but DH is pretty determined to go ahead with it despite the finances. I'm a little more hesitant.

  • @auburnvelvet86 the open circles mean that they might be less reliable than the closed circles. Usually because of sleep deprivation, drinking the night before, sleeping with your mouth open (due to a cold, for example), temp changes in your bedroom, and sometimes taking it at a different time than normal. You'll tend to have some variation, and yours is a little over 1/2 a degree from the looks of it, which isnt' bad. Unless you have a reason to dump it, I'd keep the other temp. I usually don't nix a temp unless I know there's a reason its wonky, like tossing and turning all night or going out drinking the night before.

  • @babydream0916-- Oh man, what a string of bad luck! I'm so sorry that that happened. Hopefully the insurance will come through for you guys and it will work out ok!
  • @auburnvelvet86 Hopefully!! :-)

  • @meggyme-- Huh. Ok, I'll definitely add the one back in. I guess I don't quite get how the app would track variations like bad sleep and drinking to get the open circles if all I'm inputting is a temperature. I mean, my most steady temps were the early ones that all came during the middle of the week which is when I'm the most strict about regular bedtimes, getting up, etc. Thinking back, I can't pinpoint anything that would make those the less reliable ones, and then my weekend nights better (definitely worse, as far as quality sleep actually went!).
  • ***lurking from tww***
@auburnvelvet86 - keep in mind your temps are bound to be quite erratic when AF is in town. Many ladies don't even temp while their period's here because it makes their chart wonky. If you just stopped spotting, it's likely your temps will be a little more normal now. In the specifics, noting you were sleep deprived or drinking is just an alert to FF that you did something that might raise your temps and they *might* be inaccurate. The app will discard them if they prevent you from seeing a clear pattern. That said, one or two wonky temps isn't a big deal. Personally, i don't pay attention to my temps until AF has left, since they have no bearing on whether or not I ovulated.

As for CM, there are four types:
    sticky - think thick, gluey
creamy - kind of like lotion
watery - aka slippery, feels slick, can't stretch it
egg white - aka stretchy, can stretch it between your fingers/tp.

the big difference between watery and egg white is stretchability. If it looks like egg white but won't stretch, it's watery. Both watery and egg white are fertile quality mucus, while sticky/creamy are not.

  • Thanks for all of the great information @catlady2015 , especially with the CM info. I don't really add anything else into FF right now other than the temp, so that's why the dots changing struck me as odd. But oh well! That definitely makes sense about AF playing games with it, so we'll see what the next few days bring. Thanks again!
  • @auburnvelvet86 you might check what time you have recorded for your temps. If they’re not around the same time each day it may mark them as open circles. If you don’t have a default time selected and you input them at various times it might record them as erratic timing.
    DD1: June '16 DD2: March ‘19 :::: Married since 2011 :::: USN Wife ::::
  • @meggyme -- Yep, I just checked that and set a default time that's closer to my regular wake up time. Hopefully that fixes it! Thanks for your help!

R/R: Gosh I feel lame when I can't think of anything.  I guess my rave is that I am reading The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks right now and it is so interesting!  It makes me want to go back to school to be an OB/GYN.

CS/Q: I haven't used OPKs in quite a while.  I know that they are best typically late morning/early afternoon.  How do you manage that at work?  The bathroom near my workstation isn't very private... Do you take the tests and plastic cups with you (I got internet cheapies) or do you wait till after work and hope it catches the surge?

GTKY: What game show would you be super awesome at?
Definitely Wheel of Fortune.  Definitely NOT Price is Right.
  • @fantasyflyte yay for a nice weekend with your husband AND during FW!  I hope you get those CH soon!

@Whitmore1027 your timing looks good!  FX!

@auburnvelvet86 I also wake up a lot during the night.  I try to temp every single day at almost exactly the same time and just don't get out of bed even if I can't sleep till that time (4:30 AM).  I wouldn't necessarily get rid of that temp that you threw out unless you temped outside of your normal window or drank the night before.  Charting secondary signs will also be important.  I'm definitely not an expert charter but I do still typically get CH.
