I had testing done for thyroid and hormone imbalance completed. The doctor gave me progestrone to jump start AF in March after 3 months of not having a cycle. Now I am CD25 no sign of O this cycle or AF. I am going to wait another week and call the doctor if AF doesn't come on its own.

  • @MicahDahn I’m sorry to hear your cycle is still irregular. Did the progesterone help at all in March?

AFM nothing to report, but this reminds me I need to follow up with our RE about the DNA frag test results.

QOTW: Leonardo DiCaprio will always be my first love. *swoon*  <3<3<3 In art, we had to decoupage a piece of furniture so I did a DVD shelf covered in movies images, with one entire side devoted to Leo.  I had a box of magazines with him on the cover under my bed for years—until my parents moved and I, as an adult, finally recycled them all. My obsession was something fierce. I’ll always love you, Leo.  :*
  • @Bababatty The fourth day of progesterone AF started. The docotor told me to stop taking it at that point. The hope was that all I needed was a "reset" and things would be regular from that point on. Also, Leo is a favorite of mine too!

  • @micahdahn can you talk to your doctor again? If the progesterone works most people get AF only when they stop it? But sounds like you got AF whilst still on it. More commonly Provera is given.
Sorry I don’t recall your exact test results - have they discussed using metformin or is your issue more with your pituitary or hypothalamus?

@bababatty fx with those dna frag results.

AFM nurse consult is scheduled for next Tuesday, hopefully all my Drs can align with each other in advance so I can get my full and final protocol then including prescriptions as I am expecting some challenges to get prescriptions issued in Uk filled in Germany... but I mean hey, why would any of this be easy  :D

  • @emmasemm hope your team can get everything ready for you and the scripts are easier to fill than anticipated

@MicahDahn glad things seem to be getting back on track.  will your next cycle be medicated?

AFM IUI today! Woohoo! Thinking fertile thoughts.  A little worried about my husbands swimmers today because he's gotten like zero sleep and has been super stressed with work.  Some things can't be avoided.

  • @wishing-and-hoping As of right now it will not be medicated. The docotor seemed to believe I would go back to "normal".

@emmasemm I am planning to call next week if AF doesn't come. I did get AF while still on progestrone. They have not talked about any other medicine because none of my tests cae back abnormal.

Well I finally got all my test results.... Basically I only slightly have PCOS and for no reason he can give me I don't ovulate hardly ever which I knew. However he doesn'tthink just medicated cycles will work he's given me an 8-10% success rate with IUI and a 56% success rate with ivf.
He's willing to let us try 3 cycles of iui before he moves us to ivf.
I'm heartbroken because I know we will never be able to afford ivf and iui will stretch our budget to the max. Our insurance pays for nothing fertility and everything has been out of pocket.

So yeah.... I basically just want a big margarita and to cry myself to sleep at the moment.
  • @wishing-and-hoping sending fertile thoughts your ways and Fx your DH’s swimmers were good enough

@meganttc3 feel free to drink the margarita and have a bit of a pity party. We all need them from time to time.
Did he elaborate why those odds if your main problem is not ovulating? Did they find anything else? Did your DH check out ok? Sorry I also don’t remember, have you done any ovulation induction cycles with TI already? Normally for lack of ovulation due to PCOS they first try Clomid or Letrozole to try and jump start ovulation, maybe alongside some metformin, and success rates with TI or IUI are then above average (assuming no make factor and clear tubes).
Also don’t freak out too much about IVF cost in the first instance. If you look at the link you might find one of the assistance programs can help.
    https://www.fertilitywithinreach.org/financial-assistance-grants/
Also there is a huge difference in IVF costs between clinics - I found ranges of $4500-40,000 for a single “normal” cycle excluding PGS. So it pays to shop around. If you have a high AMH you should respond well to stims which cuts down your medication cost. It might also make you a candidate for a guarantee program or for mini stim IVF for example.

  • @emmasemm we have done 6 cycles of Clomid so far and none of them have caused me to ovulate at all. Also we found out today that while DH sperm count is normal his strict criteria morphology is only 7% and our RE says it needs to be >14%. I'm not sure what this means and need to research it some more. We always thought the problem was all me until today. DH has done a SA before but we were told by the ob everything was fine but the RE disagrees.
I'm glad I have y'all to talk to this about. It helps big time. The family doesn't really understand what it is like and DH is in his I'm too upset to talk about it mood.
  • Ugh sooo aggravated. I had my midcycle scan, which has always been good previously, so to my surprise I didn’t have any mature follicles and a huge cyst (42 mm). However, they aren’t really sure it’s a cyst or a collapsing follicle. They think I’ve already ovulated (I’m on on CD 11!!!) because my progesterone was 8.7. So no trigger or support shot for me and I get to have two expensive ultrasounds next cycle *insert eye roll here*. The nurse said to go ahead and BD tonight and tomorrow just in case....but I’m really not feeling it at all. It feels like a waste of time if I already ovulated! I guess this explains the spotting that I’ve been having.

QOTW: I had the biggest crush on Nick Lachey from 98 degrees...but I also second @wishing-and-hoping on JT!
  • @Bababatty - This one's for you:

    ;)

@MicahDahn - CD 25 with no sign of O is definitely concerning. Keep on it! Good luck!

    @emmasemm - GL!!

@wishing-and-hoping - FX for this IUI! And I loved JTT. :)

@meganttc3 - UGH! This is all brutal. Maybe clomid isn't the best? Can you see another doctor & get a second opinion? What drugs are they recommending for the IUI?

Have the margarita!!! Cry as much as you want!

@mrsjcrane - sorry about the cyst. All of this sucks.

AFM: ERA results are in, there's nothing abnormal. Just waiting for another u/s and then our FET should be sometime next week. Really hoping that this is the one!

QOTW: I'm with @Bababatty on this one. I don't know if I'd even look at him twice now (and, cough cough, I don't think 30-something women with babies on the brain are his type :-P ), but I loved Leo for a little bit, just in Romeo and Juliet. Titanic didn't do it for me - not at all!, I actually found Billy Zane more attractive - but there was something so cute about Leo in R+J, and my palate was not yet so, err, sophisticated. LOL.

ps. the Romeo and Juliet soundtrack still holds up.

  • @meganttc3 so sorry to hear your updates. I hope u have some good people around u on the ground to support u.
@wishing-and-hoping fx for this round, good luck with the 2 week wait.

I finally ovulated for the first time this week, so relieved to see some progress
  • ****TW***I have an update from earlier in the week and I’m sooooo confused. Last I updated, I went for my midcycle scan, they saw a huge cystic structure, and told me to hold off on my trigger shot. Well I was talking to my best friend asked if I was sure it was an ectopic - and I just kept thinking about so I took a test. Much to my surprise it was positive and then the freaking out ensued. How can I have a positive test two weeks after having a full out 5 day period?! What happens since I took femara?! Was I already pregnant then? So long story short, since I was having right sided pain, my RE fit me for an ultrasound and blood work this morning since they were doing IUIs today. The ultrasound showed absolutely nothing except for huge follicles on both ovaries. However my hcg was only 453, which he said was too small for anything to show up. I have to go back in two days for repeat labs but I’m slowly losing my mind. I’m still having abdominal pain. I’m convinced this is an ectopic which would be my 3rd loss. Man, some people don’t know what they have when they have a normal uneventful by accident pregnancy.

@mighty-mouse yay for ovulation! As someone hardly ever ovulates I understand how awesome ovulation can be!

@mrsjcrane I am so sorry! I can not understand how worried and frustrated you must be right now. I do know what it feels like to want answers and have to wait for them. I am thinking of you and hope you get answers soon.

AFM: thank you ladies for your support. I am feeling better and less hopeless now. I spoke with DH and we decided to hold off on iui for now. We have a backpacking trip and a vacation planned for next month and we are just going to enjoy them and not stress for the next month. We will then be going forward with an iui. We are willing to try 3 times and then we have decided to foster or adopt. My amazing husband says he doesn't care where the kid comes from he just wants one to love. I'm not sure if we will ever make it to ivf but I know we will have a child to love and that is the important part.

Edited because my phone hates the term iui and keeps changing it to you.
