18 months - talking q

in October 2016 Moms
hi everyone, my little girl is only saying a few words but seems to be developing at a normal pace with everything else.. any advice? we have our 18 month check up on Wednesday.

    Only a few words at this age is completely normal. Of course, it isn't my job to convince you of that, so by all means consult the pediatrician. In the mean time, one tried-and-true method of developing your child's vocabulary is to read with her. Point to pictures and say the words loud and slow enough for her to attempt to repeat. If she is not the sitting still and reading type, playing games and describing each action and toy for her to repeat could help as well.

    Ultimately, she will talk more when she feels ready to talk more unless she has a developmental issue, which does not appear to be the case. Just some food for thought until her appointment.
