Speaking of soggy things, I haaaaate french toast! Maybe I've never had good french toast? But when I've had it it's always so soggy and gross. No thanks!
@maureenmce I used to hate french toast because when my dad made it, it was basically toast covered in fried egg covered in syrup. (I almost just threw up in my mouth) It's not my favorite thing, still, but I've had a it a couple of places that I like. I actually like the french toast sticks from sonic, lol. I don't know if those count?
@celette482 OMG, a sweet potato waffle sounds divine.
My UO...I desperately hate the idea of showers...baby or bridal. The whole thing of telling people what to buy for you (aka registries) just makes me insane. Don’t get me wrong, I did register for our first, because the shower was inevitable and hey, may as well get things you want and need. And I don’t judge anyone for any of it. I get the purpose. It’s our cultural norm. And I get that people who love you want to give and “shower” you with things you need. It just makes me all icky feeling. My family/friends will be under strict orders that there will be NO showers with baby #2. (Again, no judgment here. It’s just this thing that my brain can’t get over. It’s not you, it’s me. Lol)
@littlewhitecottage omg i totally agree. I am so weary to have a shower...even though i think I will, and i don't mind getting help. It just feels icky. @Mazinator my MIL crocheted afghans for my parents and siblings for xmas and they constantly send me pics that I forward to her. you're right! you do so much work and it's nice to see it used.
@Mazinator I made a quilt for a friend when she had a baby, and I never saw that quilt in a picture once. I got under my skin more than it should have.
LMAO - I am not big on parties of being the center of attention, but I LOVEDDDD my baby shower and probably wouldn't say no to another one, lol!! (SOOOOPER tacky, I know!) I was just so excited with Baby #1 and I'm so excited about Baby #2 that I love celebrating them! I typically just do things for myself, so it was kinda fun having people plan something for me, I'm not gonna lie, ha!
I love waffles, but the thought of sweet potato waffles, let alone tot waffles, makes me throw up in my mouth a little. BLECH.
Also not a fan of showers, though I had one for the first. I don't like being the center of attention; having a roomful of people zeroed in on my gut was torture.
My UO: Chicago style pizza isn't pizza, and NYC pizza is way better. That may not be controversial here in the interwebs, but I'm saying this from Chicago, so...
@AGK2015 Totally agree but yeah, that must be blasphemy in Chicago! I felt similarly when I lived in the South and would quietly whisper that I wanted UNsweet tea (because I think sweet tea is terrible.) People looked at me like I was insane.
I agree with pretty much everything here so far, especially waffles over pancakes forever.
My UO: Crockpots are stupid. They're good if you want to keep something warm at a party, or if you really want something that takes hours to cook, but you need to go to work. In general though, I just can't get behind them.
@texas_t I feel the same way you do about showers, I loved my shower with my first! It wasn't even about the gifts, but more just getting together with all the women in my life at one time and talking about/celebrating baby. My UO - I'm secretly hoping someone will throw me a "sprinkle" for this one
If this pregnancy works out, I think we might have some sort of celebration in the third trimester even though this will be our second. NOT a shower, no presents, but after **TW two losses end TW** if things go well this time around I just want to celebrate this baby and our gratitude with my close friends and family.
I just want you all to know that I am now making waffles this morning after reading these comments. They're completely against my whole foods diet but omg sound amazing right now!
Also, side note, for anyone not having a shower (this is our 3rd so yea, we won't be) you should definitely still make a registry! Lots of places give free stuff for making one and you get a discount to purchase items off it after your due date. This is my plan, cuz I'm all about saving money!
@amfasse great tip! I made an unpublished amazon registry during my last pregnancy just to get the discount. They sent me a free package with all sorts of baby stuff as well!
So I had foot surgery exactly 2 years ago and since then the bone has never healed correctly and for the 3rd time since then it is broken(hairline fracture). So im grouchy from all the raging hormones and now i am back in my boot for 6 weeks. So today I let my almost 3 year old watch wayyyy too YouTube and havent moved off the couch. I even gave him a big piece of chocolate just for 5 minutes of quiet.
Side note: I get to look foward to foot surgery for permenent screws after i give birth. Yipee.
I don't know if I will get one, but I hope someone throws me a shower/sprinkle because my first born is 6yrs old, so I got rid of a lot. Luckily I'm a pack rat & still have some things!
@mommythlegend my son was 6 when I had my 2nd. We have 2 showers thrown for us, which was good cuz we had a girl and needed almost everything! I'll keep my fingers crossed that someone showers you
