@mrsman2018 how rude, people need to keep their opinions to themselves. It astounds me how people feel like they're entitled to comment on your belly or whole body when you're pregnant. I mean, you wouldn't go up to someone you hardly know and comment on their weight/body shape/size, so why is it ok when I'm pregnant? I told DH today when I got home about the comment and he asked me how that made me feel, and responded with "only 5 more months to go". Thanks, H, thanks a lot.
@nlc8424 not sure if I’m mentioned my incredibly annoying coworker here, but yesterday he told me I’ve gotten “really big, it’s like the baby blew up overnight!” He meant nothing harmful by it...in fact, he probably meant it like “you look great, yay for looking pregnant!” But he just doesn’t know how to properly speak to people. Eyeroll.
This is probably TMI and I just need to vent, but DH is out of town for work and I just had a massive anxiety attack. Since TTC I’ve weaned off all my anxiety meds and this is really the first time I’ve had an immediate need to take something to calm down, and it’s hard not being able to. I had the realization that with him not here, if something happens to me I have literally no one else around. Like if something really bad happens my parents will have to take a 6 hr flight. I probably should have made more of an effort to make close friends when I moved here. Any tips on how to calm down in a natural, baby safe way ?
@ashh2018 Distraction? Can you read a book, color, watch a movie, clean out your junk drawer? Maybe get some headphones and listen to an audio book or guided meditation in bed? Sorry. Dealing with mental illness during pregnancy is tough. Don't forget to ask about any recommendations at your next OB appointment.
@ashh2018 I don’t know if this will be helpful or not, but have you gone to prenatal yoga? I just started going and it seems like a possible way to make some close by Mom friends. Additionally, prenatal yoga made me feel more at ease in my body and helped me feel less anxious. I’ve only been once and I’m going again tomorrow. I don’t have clinical anxiety or anything severe, just general pregnancy nervousness/loss of control of my body and professional life type nervousness. But, it made me feel much better and it might be worth a shot if you have a prenatal yoga studio close by.
I’m sorry @ashh2018 I don’t have advice but I can see how frightening that is. And I still have yet to make friends that aren’t spouses of DH’s coworkers since we moved to the other side of the city 2 years ago. It’s lonely.
The body comments are part of the reason I still haven’t told work. People suddenly feel like it’s okay to assess your appearance, touch your belly, etc and I’m not here for it. If anybody at work has noticed my bump, they’ve had enough sense/manners not to say anything yet.

@ashh2018 I second prenatal yoga/yoga. Going through an easy yoga routine can be very grounding. It also helps your body physically feel better. It's also a great way to make mom friends!
I’m pretending I’m very glamorous this morning eating breakfast in bed. In all actuality I am eating an orange and some crackers so I don’t get sick when I get up.
@ashh2018 *hugs* Not TMI at all. I was also going to suggest yoga. Even at home videos really help calm me down. Multiple doctors, H, and a therapist have told me I have anxious tendencies but mine is manageable with yoga, taking mental breaks during work, going for walks, and sometimes watching mindless t.v.. Yoga also taught me breathing methods that I've been able to use when I do have a panic attack. Being able to regain control of my breath during those moments helps A LOT.
@klj0228 Psh no. You're definitely being glamorous. That sounds way better
@ashh2018 I hope you’re feeling better this morning. I also find that yoga helps keep me centered. As far as being alone, are there any mom groups in your area you could join? I know there are a ton online, but if there’s an in person one that would get you out and in contact with other people which would probably help with forming the friendships. And I find most moms are always happy to have new mom friends
Thank you all. Sorry for venting and getting dramatic, I’m ok this morning. I started looking online and got the MeetUp app but I can’t actually find what I’m looking for - but I’ll keep trying! There’s a place in my town that does prenatal yoga, massage, classes etc and I’m actually signed up for a class on 4/13, but may stop by to check it out and see if the yoga classes look good and non-scary (I know it’s for beginners but I still feel intimidated!). Thanks, all.
@ashh2018 Glad you are feeling better this morning! My friend told me she recently downloaded the Peanut app, which is a Tinder-like app for moms to connect based on shared interests. May be worth checking out.

@ashh2018 Good to hear that you're feeling better. I hope the yoga can help bring some calmness to you. And to be honest, even if the class seems intimidating, give it a shot. There are always modifications for everything. And, no one is watching. They will be too focused on what they are doing. And there is always a sense of "team" in a group activity, even if you're not speaking to one another.
@ashh2018 I am so glad you are feeling better. I would recommend only stopping by ahead of time if you really think it will help you and not make you more nervous or intimidated about the class. Yoga is such a welcoming group and experience and I think it would be so good for you to be around other pregnant moms. You have many of the same concerns and stresses as the rest of us, but your anxiety makes them seem even more stressful. That along with limited support right around you is making things even harder. This is a great chance to make new mommy friends and potential future play dates for your babe.
I've had kind of a crappy week and haven't felt great, so I decided to treat myself and ordered a full body bath pillow/mat and bamboo bath tray on Amazon using reward money from my fitness program at work. SUPER excited to use them!

@southernlady07 that is so exciting and even better that it was with “free money”. Hopefully it will arrive by this weekend and you can take a nice relaxing bath.
H is about to mow the lawn and asked if I could help tomorrow by outline the edges of our neighbors lawn. They are out of town so we are taking care of their house and lawn. I kind of feel bad that I am not out there helping, but today I did 4 loads of laundry, cleaned the brushes on both vacuums and vacuumed our main level. Monday I swept and steamed the floors in the basement and tomorrow I need to steam the floors on the main level, vacuum upstairs and deep clean the kitchen and two bathrooms. My parents are coming Saturday and we are hosting a surprise party for a friend Friday. I realize I am doing a lot, but I always feel like I look lazy when H gets home and I just want to sit around and do nothing.
@southernlady07 that sounds awesome! I wish we had a bigger tub that I could use something like that in. Enjoy it!
@klj0228 yeah I know that feeling but don't usually feel too bad because I know what all I did! My H tends to get an energy burst at a different time than me so it's rare that we're both productive at the same time. Also, jealous you're mowing your lawn since we're nowhere close right now! Mother nature is confused today, we've got 40+ temps but high winds and rain/snow.
@nlc8424@EErin86 this is our 2nd or 3rd mowing of the year already. And mowing is really my favorite chore. I just know if I don’t vacuum and steam the floors it won’t get done. H is a great deep cleaner, he just thinks sweeping and mopping is enough. I think mopping doesn’t really clean your floors, but steaming makes them super clean!
@klj0228 FFWC, it's been an embarrassingly long time since my floors have been mopped and they have never been steam cleaned in the 3 years we have lived here.

I’ll be honest I only steam ours once or twice a year when we have guests coming to visit. It disgusts me to see the water but makes me so happy to walk around on super clean floors. Also, the Hoover hard floor steamer is amazing! I think it takes just a little bit longer than mopping but is much less work. It steams, scrubs and drys the floors. And it gets in between the space between the boards in our hardwoods and gets out every tiny piece of dirt.
We’ve decided to make an official announcement on social media tomorrow after our anatomy scan. All our closest peeps know about baby already but lots of others don’t so I’m still excited about it. Pic in spoiler! We’ll mention the sex of baby and possibly the name in the caption.
@SkilledSailor so cute! We did something very similar but yours was executed better haha
I’ve added these to my Amazon wishlist and notified my H that I would like him to buy these for me before I go into labor. To be worn in the hospital, either while giving birth or during recovery

@SkilledSailor That is so cute!!! My husband really wants to announce already and I really want to wait until I have a big bump! But, seeing cute announcements like yours make me waiver...
I went to a prenatal yoga class last night that was packed! The door was locked when we all arrived so there were 12 pregnant women standing around waiting. This cracked me up for some reason. I could not stop laughing. I kept laughing through the whole class. The class was really good though, but does anyone else find any humor in the image of a bunch of pregnant women who don't know each other just standing around ackwardly? I just felt like we were a heard. But, seriously, I can't recommend prenatal yoga enough. I feel so much better afterwards and I feel like we are doing excersizes that will prepare us for birth.
@klj0228 We haven't ever steamed our hardwood. Now I am intrigued. My DSD just recently decided that she loves to mop, which is fine by me. Maybe I'll get her a hoover for her birthday
@Redpuma119. I miss those! Idk why the bump was still having siggy issues last time I tried. I don't think I even have a KU ticker because it was limiting the images. :/ but if anyone knows if that's fixed, it'd be fun!
NB: siggies can only be done on desktop. ;) for anyone who was wondering...
I'm feeling rather constricted today, so I just stripped off my belly band while sitting at my desk. Currently wishing I had a smaller chest so I could take off my bra for the remainder of the day, too.
