Hey everyone! We haven't had one of these in awhile. Now that we're mostly all in second trimester I thought it'd be fun to have another check-in to see how everyone is doing! How far along are you? How big is baby?
How are you feeling? Any new symptoms?
Rants/Raves?
Questions?
Anything exciting to share (appointments, nursery/nesting, etc.)?
GTKY: Apart from the absolute necessities (and the people you love) what would you find it extremely hard to go a single day without?
How far along are you? How big is baby? I'm 18 weeks today! According to babylist, baby is about the size of an original Nintendo controller.
How are you feeling? Any new symptoms? As long as I remember to take my Unisom, I'm doing ok. It does make me a drowsy so I haven't experienced a major burst of energy in second tri but I don't feel like a complete zombie either. No new symptoms really.
Rants/Raves? Business is doing well! I've been able to hire a couple of new stylists/interns which means I feel more confident about giving myself at least a four to five week maternity leave.
Questions? None at the moment.
Anything exciting to share (appointments, nursery/nesting, etc.)? We have our anatomy scan this Friday! So excited but also nervous. Family has been getting us baby stuff but for whatever reason I feel like once we see baby on Friday it will feel a lot more "real" and like there's a true deadline to get all of this stuff done.
GTKY: My phone. Although I consider that a true necessity. And if we can all agree that's a necessity then it would be....music. I listen to music every single day.
How far along are you? How big is baby? I'm 16+3 - the size of an avacado according to The Bump. And, I love avacados, but that picture of an avacado that The Bump has is making me nauseous!
How are you feeling? Any new symptoms? I'm feeling pretty good - definitely better than 1st Trimester. I'm also on Dislegis (Unisom + B6) so I also still feel really tired, but again, not as bad as in February. I have more insomnia now. I am a little uncomfortable and just trying to get used to a newly formed bump!
Rants/Raves? Hiding it at work sucks. I loved showing off my little bump this weekend. I'm super tired today, but I'm the supervisor. I just feel like I have to be at work. It's frustrating. And, 3 of my employees called in sick today. So, it's good that I'm here, but really annoying that I'm pregnant and can't take a day off, but these guys can call out sick whenever there is a long weekend.
Questions? I'm not really worrying too much about preparing and stocking up on baby things. I know we have a lot to do, and we are slowing doing it, but I definitely have not bought anything or made a registry or even researched much. Is this weird? We are working on changing our second bedroom from my Husband's workshop into a nursery. And, I'm definitely working on saving money and financial planning. But, I just figure that I have the summer to do all of the baby "nesting" stuff. But, I also feel really behind sometimes!
Anything exciting to share (appointments, nursery/nesting, etc.)? We are going on a vacation to Miami at the end of April and I am SO SO SO excited! GTKY: Apart from the absolute necessities (and the people you love) what would you find it extremely hard to go a single day without? I wouldn't be able to go without my phone and water. I seriously need both all the time!
How far along are you? How big is baby? 17w1d today... baby is the size of a pomegranate
How are you feeling? Any new symptoms? Same as @SkilledSailor with the Unisom (and B6), and the resulting drowsiness. I tried to stop taking the Unisom again on Saturday (3rd time trying), but then I got a terrible night's sleep Saturday night and awful nausea on Sunday. I decided I would try cutting down to half a pill each night for this week and see if that is better than just going cold turkey. So far, it seems okay. No new symptoms, but a particularly funny one that has been around since I got pregnant is I keep getting hiccups every day that only occur one hiccup at a time, maybe 5 times a day. DH and I have decided the little one is a frog, and every time it happens, we say its him talking to us.
Rants/Raves? I'm feeling pretty mellow today, so no rants or raves. I suppose if I was going to rant about anything, it would be that it is snowing in NJ today after several days of spring-like weather, but on the flip-side, I could also rave about how spring seems like it's really close, despite the snow today.
Questions? Has anyone started using a maternity pillow? My MIL bought me one that wraps all the way around, and I decided to start using it because the reviews on Amazon said people started using it as early as 9 weeks and loved it. I found the front to be very comfy, but the back to just be huge and clunky.
Anything exciting to share (appointments, nursery/nesting, etc.)? DH and finished setting up all the furniture in the nursery yesterday. We were missing a crib piece for several weeks, but I got it this weekend and DH was so excited to finish putting it together. Now I'm just waiting on the nursery chair. It feels really early to be doing this all, but it's exciting either way.
GTKY: Apart from the absolute necessities (and the people you love) what would you find it extremely hard to go a single day without? I had to think about this for awhile because I don't really have much aside from sleep, food, my hubby and my pups (whom I include in people I love). I settled on my Vaseline lip balm. I despite having chapped lips.
@SkilledSailor that is super exciting that you have your anatomy scan Friday!
How far along are you? How big is baby? 14+2 size of a peach
How are you feeling? Any new symptoms? I am still on my diclegis but am down to 1 pill at night, 1 in the morning and 1 in the afternoon. I do actually seem to have more energy than the first trimester though which is really nice.
Rants/Raves?
Questions? How is everyone doing with the gaining weight/changing physical appearance?
Anything exciting to share (appointments, nursery/nesting, etc.)? My parents are coming in next weekend and will be here for a week helping us with a necessary remodel before baby. Once that is done I will get to start setting up the nursery. My mom will also get to go with me to my 16 week appointment which I am really excited about!
GTKY: Apart from the absolute necessities (and the people you love) what would you find it extremely hard to go a single day without? My Phone unfortuantely! I wish I weren’t so attached but I just love the access it gives me.
How far along are you? How big is baby? 16+2 baby is the size of an avocado!
How are you feeling? Any new symptoms? I feel fine except I'm dealing with insomnia. If i take unisom, then i sleep through the night but my bladder is killing me in the morning. Can't win
Rants/Raves? My little bump is more noticeable after a weekend of major round ligament pain. I can't wait to feel my little avocado kick.
@zuzu43I've been using a body pillow (the super long regular pillow) and it's a game changer. I'm gonna look into getting the maternity pillow because I'm rolling on my back and then my bladder hurts @klj0228I gain a ton of weight in my face. I can feel my cheeks are getting chubbier. I lost 20lbs last year for my wedding and probably gained it all back plus some.... but I'm trying not to obsess over it as long as it doesn't negatively affect baby. I will ask my husband to get me an elliptical and I'm excited to get back to working out hard again once I recover from delivery/ bringing baby home. @magnolia209I'm also waiting until the summer to nest. I literally only have two (monkey) onesies so far. I'm both saving up and waiting until my husband is back from work to do it. Questions?
Anything exciting to share (appointments, nursery/nesting, etc.)?
Anatomy ultrasound on 4/30!! So excited!!
GTKY: Apart from the absolute necessities (and the people you love) what would you find it extremely hard to go a single day without?
Work. I would go insane all day at home. It keeps me busy and makes the days go by faster!
I’m glad to hear I’m not the only one with insomnia. My Dr. did say it’s very normal, but I still worry that if I don’t sleep enough my body won’t be in as optimal condition to help the baby. But, again, the dr. said not to worry.
I’m super excited to hear that a few of you are using pregnancy pillows. I want one, but I thought I was too early on to get one. I feel like there is pressure on my belly even when sleeping on my side and that’s not helping the insomnia! I guess it’s time!
And, finally, this morning, I was referring to my little bump, but my co-worker just told me that I really look like I popped. She was warning me because she knows I’m trying to keep this quiet from most people at work. I don’t think it’s going to work for much longer. I am wearing looser clothes and disguising with scarves and cardigans, but it’s still getting pretty obvious!
@magnolia209 you are probably getting to a stage that it’s hard to hide, which is a little scary but also exciting. I hope you are able to keep hiding it until you are ready to tell others. Was it you saying you are going after a promotion right now and that’s why you are kind of hiding it at work still? If so, when will you know about the promotion?
Hello everyone. I was waiting to post anything until I got out of my first trimester, so here we go! How far along are you? How big is baby? I am currently 14 + 2 and baby is measuring perfectly around this age. According to the app, the baby is the size of a peach.
How are you feeling? Any new symptoms? I’m finally not having nausea throughout the day. No cravings, but have had some aversions. More vivid dreams!
Rants/Raves? Haven’t gained any weight, but tummy is starting to get firm and pop a little so I’m sure I’ll gain a few within the next few weeks.
Questions?
Anything exciting to share (appointments, nursery/nesting, etc.)? Got to see the baby today for a gender determination and cannot wait until my sister throws the reveal in a few weeks. Perfect foot ultrasound as well!
GTKY: Apart from the absolute necessities (and the people you love) what would you find it extremely hard to go a single day without? Water and sleep! I always feel dehydrated now and I get exhausted so easily.
@knottie9ca6617c2c6a1c5c We are so glad you are participating! You and I share a due date. There is a post on this board that explains how to change your screen name. It makes it easier for us to tag you if your name isn’t a super long knottie name! Look forward to getting to know you!
@magnolia305 How long are you wanting to hide it for? I can imagine it's been tough!
@zuzu43 I've been using a large collection of pillows and blankets. I like them better than body pillows because I can mold them to whatever shape I want in that moment. That was a sweet gesture of your MIL!
@klj0228 Yay for more energy! I'm honestly struggling with the weight gain/bump part of it all. My midwife says I'm right on track which logically makes me feel better. But then I keep reading/hearing about all these FTMs that don't show until 20weeks or so and that is just not the case with me. What about you?
@klj0228@SkilledSailor I’m keeping it quiet at work for a very unspecified possible promotion. It keeps getting pushed back. Originally they were supposed to be interviewing for it now. But, it seems like it might not be until late May/early June. I’m totally over it! I’m not hiding it for personal reasons. It’s not for me. It’s just for a stupid political reason. I want it the promotion, but I don’t want to hide the pregnancy anymore/ I look really big today (and I swear last week I barely had a bump!). So, I’m going to talk to my boss tomorrow to see who specifically she thinks I should keep it quiet from. She knows and is so awesome and supportive, but also recommended that I keep it quiet because of this promotion.
How far along are you? How big is baby? I'm 18 weeks, 2 days today. TB has updated for today yet... but apparently baby's fist is the size of an m&m.
How are you feeling? Any new symptoms? I recently started having a second round of MS. It is worse than first trimester for sure. I went 7 weeks without any sickness at all. It doesn't happen every day but when it does, it lasts all day long. Still no bump but stomach is very tight. Chest has got noticeably larger. Feeling a little overwhelmed because we have yet to purchase anything for the baby. My best friend has purchased all of the child's clothing for the first six months and a blanket and that is all that we have.
Rants/Raves? Questions?
Anything exciting to share (appointments, nursery/nesting, etc.)? Anatomy scan coming up on April 18. If DH makes it to the appointment, we will be finding out... but keeping it a surprise to everyone else. GTKY: Apart from the absolute necessities (and the people you love) what would you find it extremely hard to go a single day without? Right now, just plain bread and strawberries.
@SkilledSailor I’m only 14 weeks and I have only gained a couple pounds, but if I’m wearing running shorts or sweats and a t shirt I clearly have a bump. When I put on jeans and a top it’s not as noticeable. I am struggling with the body changes, especially after my MIL reached out to touch my stomach last week and said she could do it whenever she wanted since she is the grandma. I told her there was nothing there and she was not allowed to touch it! I’m hoping when the bump is more defined and I can feel the baby move I will feel better about it all.
@smsaulino I am so sorry you are having horrible MS. You were feeling so good for a while so this must be terrible. How is school going?
@klj0228 school is going as well as it can right now. I'm struggling a little because of my symptoms but so far, my grades have been good. It does take a lot out of me. Just looking forward to next month... when it ends and I don't have to think about it again until next spring semester. I'm definitely taking the fall semester off. I'm due about a week and a half after it starts back up.
@SkilledSailor GL on Friday! @magnolia209 I was hiding it at work for the same reason. I finally told my boss last week and he said my promotion will probably start when I get back from mat leave, which is fine with me. Also, I have a noticeable bump and wore a fitted sweater yesterday and nobody noticed my bump so maybe I could have hid it a bit longer. How far along are you? How big is baby? 17+3
How are you feeling? Any new symptoms? Still getting some headaches and constipation. Gassy and hungry. Otherwise good.
Rants/Raves? I started telling more people at work. It's fun but also makes me anxious. Also, we got a barely used car seat from a friend of the family's for a great price and bought a new stroller 10% off.
Questions? Nope! Anything exciting to share (appointments, nursery/nesting, etc.)? MW appointment next Tuesday. AS on the 23rd. GTKY: Probably my phone or a computer.

@starla congrats on the promotion even if it is delayed until you return from maternity leave.
@magnolia209 hopefully you will get to do the interview and they will make a decision before you have to tell everyone.
@smsaulino good job keeping your grades up through all the symptoms pregnancy brings. I think it’s a great idea to take the fall semester off so you don’t get rushed after baby to get back to class.
@SkilledSailor yay for anatomy scan this week! Our families have bought things for the baby, but we have not gotten anything ourselves. I thought knowing the sex would make it more real, but that hasn’t made it any more real. Hopefully seeing the baby especially since it will really look like a baby will make it more real! Can’t wait to hear how it goes.
@magnolia209 I’m not sure what type of company you work for,
but it is so against the law to discriminate against a position because of
pregnancy. I would be nervous because it sounds like your manager wants you to
have the job yet is encouraging you to keep mum.
@zuzu43 I have the hiccups too! And it is also one random
one. Usually a very loud and violent one. Also, I am impressed that your
nursery is put together already!
How far along are you? How big is baby? 15+3, baby is the size of a travel size deodorant
How are you feeling? Any new symptoms? I am feeling surprisingly good. Still more tired than usual, but I am loving the extra sleep!
Rants/Raves? About the physical appearances/changes.. I have tried for so so long to be where I am today and I am pretty okay about whatever happens to my body. I am also aware that I am in a slightly different boat right now because I haven't gained a pound, and I have a little bump that DH and I can feel only if I'm constipated. The mind f*ck with that is that my PGAL brain is now convinced that something is wrong with the baby, and I should be showing or feeling flutters or feeling worse. What if the testing was wrong? So, in my case, its almost like a bump would ease my fears, ya know? I have also worked with women, who even knowing about our fertility issues, would comment constantly about their pregnancy weight gain, spider veins, pancake butt, etc etc. And I would always tell them, if I could be pregnant and have a baby, I would gain 100 pounds, have my feet grow 2 sizes, have saggy breasts, stretch marks, the works. I do have a good friend who was underweight when she got pregnant. Her dr recommended she gain 35+ pounds and she flipped. Well, she had gained about 8 when she went into preterm labor just over 30 weeks. Her child was born tiny and the nicu for months. Even 3 years later you can see that the development with her child is a off. Now, was that weight related? Can't be sure. But if you are teeny tiny to begin with, your child is depending on you for nutrients, so I believe it played a big role. Anyway, I digress.. As of now I want to see a bump, but don't. Fertility meds, hormones and miscarriages have left me with about 15 extra pounds
so the amount that I gain should be a little less, but if I go over, I won't beat myself up. I ALSO realize that in a few months I might be having a hard time with the gain and my changing body. I think its great that this subject has been brought up, because we are so hard on ourselves, even when we are growing a human. Questions:
Anything exciting to share (appointments, nursery/nesting, etc.)? 16 week appointment next week! I feel like I am so far behind everyone!
GTKY: Apart from the absolute necessities (and the people you love) what would you find it extremely hard to go a single day without? Probably music
How far along are you? How big is baby? 16+3, apparently avocado size which is quite fitting as one of nny cravings haha.
How are you feeling? Any new symptoms? Headaches are getting more common, no major energy burst but significantly less miserable than the first 14w. I have a bad back and it's already starting to hurt, I'll see how that goes.
Rants/Raves? Not really. I'm looking forward to it showing a bit more so I can get offered a seat on the bus and metro haha I feel like a grandma but the commute is long and my back hurts.
Questions? Don't think so. Anything exciting to share (appointments, nursery/nesting, etc.)? Nothing here. Anatomy scan is end of May and my next appointment end of April. I guess I'm excited to start feeling some movements! Sometimes I think I felt something but it's probably gas haha GTKY: Hmmm. Probably my phone because my calendar, contacts and stuff is all there and nowhere else.
@klj0228 I haven't gained any weight on the scale, but my body has definitely changed, and I have a bump that people who already know I'm pregnant have been commenting on. I think perhaps with the morning sickness, I lost some weight, but maybe the scale has stayed the same because I've gained baby + breasts? Also, I've always heard women talk about the weirdness of people touching their bellies, and while I totally believed them, I also just couldn't imagine people being so weird. Last month, I already had my father and someone I don't even know well touch my blump that wasn't even a bump; it was so uncomfortable for me, but I didn't say anything. I think I was more in shock.
@srachilagani Oddly, I wanted the full, wrap-around body pillow to stop me from rolling on my back, but I found it to be so incredibly comfortable sleeping on my back in the middle of that thing that I think it only encouraged me to roll on my back. Perhaps it will be different for you though. Keep me updated! I'll be interested to know if it helps you or does the same.
@magnolia209 that is super frustrating and upsetting that you aren't even hiding it for personal reasons... I hope the promotion comes asap so that you can just share the news with everyone!
@Redpuma119 The random hiccup is usually loud and violent for me as well! How weird. Also, I hadn't really planned on having the nursery furniture yet, but my parents wanted to buy us the furniture, and I felt terrible once I started researching how much it all is. I wound up finding an amazing deal for nice furniture that was clean and in really good shape on Craigslist, so they jumped on it. So now we have the furniture in the room, but we won't get anything else probably until July-ish (mattress, changing pad, clothes, etc.)
@smsaulino I haven’t bought anything for baby yet either - I’m starting to feel overwhelmed and unprepared, but I know we have time! I’m 18+2 also.
@klj0228 I feel so uncomfortable even when DH touches my belly (and he should be allowed!) Your MIL is not entitled to touch you and neither is anyone else! I’m feeling the same way where once it’s a definite “bump” I hope I feel better about it.
@zuzu43 I think it is great that your parents helped out with the furniture. My parents want to help out a bunch with this baby as well. I think as long as people are offering, it is because they really want to help, and we should let them!
@ashh2018 yes! DH does not try to touch it yet, which is fine by me! I swatted his mom’s hand away and said you do not get to touch my belly! H and I don’t touch it yet and you sure can’t. And I told her it’s not even the baby it’s just my internal organs, the baby is much lower and definitely not big enough to feel.
On the same note, I have read many stories and articles and on here where people say everyone will think they have a right to touch your stomach when you are pregnant. I was semi prepared for this to happen when I am much bigger, but having my MIL do it this weekend I realize it feels so violating! You are in my personal space and if you were grabbing my butt or boobs it would not be socially acceptable! My body, my baby! My mom said she was going to get me a shirt that says “do not touch”
How far along are you? How big is baby? I'm 15+4 and baby is the size of a pear How are you feeling? Any new symptoms? I'm feeling pretty good just tired at the end of the day. I'm back to falling asleep on the couch again. Rants/Raves? MH and I have been touring daycares the last few weeks and its proven to be stressful. We live in a city full of young families and every daycare has a waitlist. So we're on waitlists at three centers and MH wants to tour more places. If you're going to need daycare I highly recommend that you start looking! Questions? None right now. Anything exciting to share (appointments, nursery/nesting, etc.)? I had my first centering appointment this past Saturday and I really liked it. Centering appointments are my prenatal visits, but the same group of women due near me meet for discussion at the same time. This week the midwives led us in discussion about stress, nutrition and additional classes available through our hospital. I also got to hear baby's heart beat with the doppler. I'm planning to keep attending. GTKY: Apart from the absolute necessities (and the people you love) what would you find it extremely hard to go a single day without? Coffee. Which of course isn't vital to life but doesn't help my mornings go smoother.
@SkilledSailor Exciting about the anatomy scan this Friday! I'm getting really impatient about knowing the sex. @zuzu43 I haven't bought one of the big pillows but I did buy a small wedge pillow this week that I'm enjoying. It's the Hiccapop maternity pillow: https://www.amazon.com/hiccapop-Pregnancy-Maternity-Pillows-Support/dp/B01KG84CLI @klj0228 I absolutely have a bump at this point which is taking some getting used to. I haven't been super concerned about the weight gain. I had a rough first tri and although I have been eating a ton the last few weeks, haven't gained any weight yet. @magnolia209 I agree that there's plenty of time to nest. We've already started working in the nursery because we need to clean it out, rip up carpet, refinish floors and paint before we can even think about furniture etc... @starla Congrats on the promotion. I agree that I could have waited to tell work longer than I did! @smsaulino Sorry to hear that you are experiencing MS again! Oh and don't worry about not buying anything for baby yet, you have a lot of time! I also have a friend like yours who is due a month before me but has bought a ton more stuff than me. @ashh2018@klj0228 A woman who is at best a distant acquaintance came up and touched my belly when we were at a friend's Easter dinner on Sunday. It surprised me and in that situation I just rolled with and didn't say anything. If other family try to touch my stomach I will say something. Oh and my greatest fear is at work. I'm a Librarian so I work with the general public. I'm scared that a customer is going to try to touch my belly. :0
@klj0228 on Saturday two girlfriends took me out to a painting bar (they picked a mama llama painting for us to do ) and one of them walked up to me and touched my belly. It made me irrationally angry but i played it off cool to enjoy the day. I have never in my 27 years of life walked up to a pregnant woman and touched her belly. Wtf. On Friday, I asked a coworker his input on a bulletin for the church I work at and he started saying "thank you for working so hard this week" and decided to start rubbing my back. I jumped off my seat and yelled that he got off me. You guys might see me on the news when i lose it. Once my belly gets bigger i will make it extremely known that i will slap anyone if they touch me. Don't touch strangers!
I think I'm that much more sensitive about it because my husband is working abroad and won't be home until next month @SkilledSailor Not even him can touch my belly, so why are all these filthy strangers touching me?????? Rant over.
How far along are you? How big is baby? 15 weeks today the size of a navel orange. How are you feeling? Any new symptoms? A lot better, some energy back and many foods sound " good " to me again. Rants/Raves? We told our family about the pregnancy at the family Easter brunch this weekend, made my heart so happy! Questions? Any gym goers/runner FTM's out there? I am a pretty avid runner, managing to still train 6 days a week while modifying pace and distance. Some light core and strength as well. Would love to hear how your training is going. Anything exciting to share (appointments, nursery/nesting, etc.)? Next OB appt April 23rd,Triple Quad Screen and finding out the gender on May 1, really looking forward to another ultrasound. GTKY: Apart from the absolute necessities (and the people you love) what would you find it extremely hard to go a single day without? Prob my daily devotional. We are PGAL and it's got really nice daily messages of hope and encouragement. I look forward to reading it each evening before bed. @SkilledSailor so excited for you, Hope all goes well on Friday. @zuzu43 I recently bought a Leacho Snoogle body pillow for pregnancy on amazon. Trying to train myself to sleep on my side and I find it really helps. Feels great on my back and hips. Yes it does take up a lot of space but ya get used to it. I forsee getting in and out of bed in the later months a challenge! @jaylii The day care situation sounds so stressful, hope you find a place soon. Thank you for flagging this for me, I will contact some around me to get on the wait list. @smsaulino Hope your MS doesn't last too long this round. I find Popsicle helped a little a bit when I just didn't want any food at all. I also have not bought anything and won't be until we are past the viability point ( 25 weeks ). Just personal preference/nervous. I'm a planner so its hard not to! @Redpuma119 I share a lot of your feelings about upcoming physical changes. I have struggled with compulsive exercising, binge and restricting for most of my adult life. I am in a good place right now but I would be lying if I said I wasn't worried about what the coming months will bring. I am so thankful to have gotten to this point and I just try to remind myself every day that its about giving the best start I can do my baby and I have do do certain things to get there. I disclosed everything to my OB and she has been very supportive. I am also PGAL and I don't think I am as big as I should be either and spend a lot of time worrying in between appts and ultrasounds. @magnolia209 ahhhh Miami sounds amazing! Where I am we are bracing for another spring snow storm. I love Miami, hope you have a wonderful vacation. @starla So happy you are finding joy in telling people at work Its such a nice feeling to share the news esp when the journey has been a tough one.
Me: 34 DH:33 TTC since Oct 2016 DX: Undetermined possible PCOS+MFI July 2017-Dec 2017 Letrozole+TI Dec 2017 CP Jan 2018 BFP:EDD 9-25
Full support here ladies. My MIL poked my stomach HARD and it was so dehumanizing. I don't want anyone touching me -- especially now when there's nothing to touch but also later! Ugh.
@magnolia305 Hope the talk with your boss goes well!
@smsaulino Ugh, I'm so sorry you're experiencing a second round of MS. Do any of the nausea meds work for you?
@klj0228 I hate how much MILs and other family members can impact our feelings of ourselves. I was feeling ok about my bump until MIL mentioned that I'm showing now. I responded with a smile and "yes, a little bit!" and she goes "Oh no, you're showing a lot". Boom. Confidence ruined. Then the same day my grandmother said I look like I'm carrying twins. Ouch. I have had the same thought about it being more defined. In tight clothes my bump looks like a baby bump so I've considered switching to tight shirts and just embracing it but I normally wear loose tops so it'll feel a bit unnatural at first.
@starla Yay for those big purchases! Which brand did you decide to go with? We're probably getting ours this weekend after the A/S confirms it's not twins <-H's words
@redpuma119 I bet you'll have a bump soon! I sorta popped around 16+2 and then this week(18w) it really popped. You're so close! Will that do an US at your 16 week appointment?
@tpeci Sorry to hear about your back. Do you have a heating pad at home? That's been helping mine.
@jaylii That's nuts about the daycare centers! Hopefully you are able to get a spot in one of those three! And I hope it happens soon so you don't need to stress about it anymore.
@srachilagani That's so hard for him to be away right now. I hope this next month flies by for you and that people stop touching you!
@sclarke7 I'm super impressed with your running! I'm still going to flow yoga classes, but not 6 days a week. We should have another Fit Mom Friday check in this week to see how everyone else is doing with their exercise routines.
@Redpuma119 I’m talking a lot about my bump this week, but seriously, it came out of nowhere! 1.5 weeks ago I felt like I was behind and was wondering when I would start showing. It really happened fast! And, it is daunting to think about how our bodies are changing. I do have moments of “what have I done to myself?”. But, overall, this is so cool and exciting. I’m sure you will be showing soon!
@adirat That's so weird. Why would she poke it? My mom and sister both touched my belly over the weekend and it was weird. My mom actually kissed it, which was cute, but also awkward.

@skilledsailor@starla Why would she poke me? A question that would be asked of a normal person but not an unusual behavior for my very strange crazy MIL. I told her not to and she just shrugged.
How far along are you? How big is baby? 16+2, avocados (twins )
How are you feeling? Any new symptoms? I stopped taking Unisom+B6 2 nights ago. I think I'm still feeling ok nausea-wise. I hadn't really thought that the Unisom was helping me sleep, but I have been having more trouble sleeping recently. I wake up a lot and have been getting aches in my hip sockets from sleeping on my side. I think it's time to get a pregnancy pillow like many of you have done!
I've also reached the conclusion that I can't eat any fried food these days without feeling completely gross afterward. Last night I had some fish tacos where the fish was fried, thinking that it wouldn't be as much fry as something like french fries, but then I was feeling bad for hours. Oh well, at least I've figured out something to avoid.
Rants/Raves? I'm definitely showing these days, but I have had a bump that was noticeable to me since about 8 weeks, presumably since it was twins. I told work about the pregnancy at 14 weeks, which was good because at this point it's basically impossible to hide. I've gained about 10 pounds. Again, way more than what most of you have said, but I'm assuming it's because of the twins! Even through my morning sickness I was ravenously hungry a lot of the time, it was just that nothing was actually appealing (but I ate anyway). According to one twin pregnancy book I should gain 20 lbs (or 25!) by 20 weeks to optimize the chances of healthy birth weights; I think I may make it, because my weight gain has really accelerated in the last week or two.
Questions? From those of you that have started using pregnancy pillows, any specific suggestions as to brand? I was considering the Snoogle. Anything exciting to share (appointments, nursery/nesting, etc.)? I have a regular midwife appointment next Monday, then the anatomy scan in 3 weeks. We haven't started on a nursery or even a registry. I did look at some nursery color palettes and picked a couple that I liked and showed them to my husband, but that's as far as we've gotten!
GTKY: Apart from the absolute necessities (and the people you love) what would you find it extremely hard to go a single day without? Snacks!
@iba34 for some reason I can eat french fries, but other fried food is off limits. That’s awesome your ms has gotten better and you aren’t having to take the unisom and B6 anymore.
@klj0228@iba34 I've also had trouble eating fried foods, moreso than usual.

@iba34 Now I want fish tacos. *drool* I was also told by a few friends that the snoogle was the best. I havent gotten one yet- but I think that’s the brand I’ll be going with. If you get one soon you should let us know what you think!
Re: FTM April Check-In
I'm 18 weeks today!
I'm gonna look into getting the maternity pillow because I'm rolling on my back and then my bladder hurts
@klj0228I gain a ton of weight in my face.

Edited to clarify.
@srachilagani When does your H get back?
Welcome Knottie! That's a super cute foot!

@smsaulino I am so sorry you are having horrible MS. You were feeling so good for a while so this must be terrible. How is school going?
GTKY:
Probably my phone or a computer.

@magnolia209 I’m not sure what type of company you work for, but it is so against the law to discriminate against a position because of pregnancy. I would be nervous because it sounds like your manager wants you to have the job yet is encouraging you to keep mum.
@zuzu43 I have the hiccups too! And it is also one random one. Usually a very loud and violent one. Also, I am impressed that your nursery is put together already!
Fertility meds, hormones and miscarriages have left me with about 15 extra pounds so the amount that I gain should be a little less, but if I go over, I won't beat myself up.
Sometimes I think I felt something but it's probably gas haha
GTKY:
Hmmm. Probably my phone because my calendar, contacts and stuff is all there and nowhere else.
@klj0228 I feel so uncomfortable even when DH touches my belly (and he should be allowed!) Your MIL is not entitled to touch you and neither is anyone else! I’m feeling the same way where once it’s a definite “bump” I hope I feel better about it.
I'm 15+4 and baby is the size of a pear
How are you feeling? Any new symptoms?
@zuzu43 I haven't bought one of the big pillows but I did buy a small wedge pillow this week that I'm enjoying. It's the Hiccapop maternity pillow: https://www.amazon.com/hiccapop-Pregnancy-Maternity-Pillows-Support/dp/B01KG84CLI
@klj0228 I absolutely have a bump at this point which is taking some getting used to.
@ashh2018 @klj0228 A woman who is at best a distant acquaintance came up and touched my belly when we were at a friend's Easter dinner on Sunday. It surprised me and in that situation I just rolled with and didn't say anything. If other family try to touch my stomach I will say something. Oh and my greatest fear is at work. I'm a Librarian so I work with the general public. I'm scared that a customer is going to try to touch my belly. :0
I think I'm that much more sensitive about it because my husband is working abroad and won't be home until next month @SkilledSailor Not even him can touch my belly, so why are all these filthy strangers touching me?????? Rant over.
15 weeks today the size of a navel orange.
How are you feeling? Any new symptoms?
A lot better, some energy back and many foods sound " good " to me again.
Rants/Raves?
We told our family about the pregnancy at the family Easter brunch this weekend, made my heart so happy!

@adirat Ouch! Why would she poke it?! Not cool.
@SkilledSailor We got the 2017 Uppa Baby Cruz.

Snacks!
