Weekend Randoms (March 31-April 1st)

Hi all! What are you up to this weekend? Any fun Passover or Easter plans?

As for me, this is probably more of a FFFC confession, but I literally just ate almost an entire jar of dill pickles, so apparently I am a pregnancy cliche. Anyway, share anything (probably much less embarrassing) that you've been up to or any random thoughts you have!

Re: Weekend Randoms (March 31-April 1st)

  • I forgot just how annoying/uncomfortable/scary that pinching feeling in your lower abdomen is when you’re early in pregnancy.

I basically haven’t stopped eating this weekend.

And im so excited to see DS’s reaction to the Easter bunny tomorrow and see the train table he’s getting!
(Side note: we don’t usually go so big for Easter but we were going to get him a train table anyways so figured better to gift it for a holiday)

  • We don’t have big Easter plans. We had dinner with DHs family last Sunday because his parents were going to be gone on vacation this weekend. We are just going out for Easter brunch with my parents tomorrow. Is it bad that we aren’t getting our 13 month old an Easter basket? I mean he won’t remember it and he will get one from both grandparents anyways.

On on another note, any good suggestions for a Netflix movie? We are living it up tonight at home now that DS is in bed. We are huge movie and TV watchers so your more common movies we have probably already watched but I am open for suggestions!

  • @kristah2 the pinching feeling! Yes! The worst. Ugh.
@maureenmce dying. Pickles are my favorite thing when I’m NOT pregnant. I’m an absolute pickle freak when I am.

I don’t know if this is a good place to bring this up, but...moms with other littles, when do you plan to tell your other kid(s) about this baby? I know I’m jumping the gun and (obviously) I wouldn’t tell my four year old right now. But I’m curious if you guys have thought about it. I’m kinda thinking on the way to the hospital?? Haha. My kid has no concept of time and I know as soon as he knows he will ask about it non stop until December. Four is a weird age where they are so aware of everything but also still so little. Curious what everyone’s thoughts are on this.
  • @mittenlove86 we’re watchint “happy anniversary” tonight! No idea how it’ll be.
@littlewhitecottage 4 year old is definitely a weird age to tell. I would wait a little bit personally. DS is only 17 months so there’s not a whole lot to tell.
  • @kristah2 yeah, for sure not telling now.  And definitely waiting until after the first tri.  Just lost after that as to when would be a good time.  He's so intuitive and I feel like he will figure it out before I get huge.
@mittenlove86 I default to The Office and Friends most nights, so I'm no help there. Let us know what you end up watching!

  • Went to babies r us today to see if there was anything decent on clearance (infant seat or bottles). It was closed already - the store was completely empty. That was fast!

  • Oy. Brain dumping here since I don't want to add to husband's burden. My FIL was admitted to the ER Wednesday night/Thursday morning, he's now in respiratory failure and this morning we had to put him on a ventilator. Now idea what will happen over the next few days but heart is breaking for husband and his family.
  • @littlewhitecottage my oldest will be 4 in just over a month. My youngest is 20
months. I have just been talking on and off about babies and reminding ds1 how much fun ds2 is. I asked ds1 if we should get more brothers or sisters. He said no, lol. I probably won’t tell until I have body changes. I was talking to h about this today. Maybe I’ll change my mind- I’m not sure when the best time is.
  • Well we ended up watching a movie called The Titan. I would say it was ok. MH is into space movies. Haha. It is about a pre-apocalyptic earth and the government is trying to mutate humans into a new species that can survive on on of Saturn’s moons so we can repopulate there.

@Activebaby we went to BBRU a couple weeks ago and they were already cleaned out pretty good then. Of course we didn’t have our BFP yet at that point so we didn’t even think about looking for bottles or that kind of stuff. I thought about stopping in again today but figured they would probably be even more cleaned out. Plus the sales they had when we went in before really weren’t even that good.

@ALM2016 I’m so sorry to hear about your FIL. I will be thinking of and praying for you and your family

  • Just popping in to say that I just had homemade Greek yogurt with blueberries and a drizzle of honey (standard) but I added cinnamon this time and I think I'm a genius because it was AMAZING.

@ALM2016, sending lots of good thoughts your way, and hopes for healing (or, in the absence of healing, peace for the whole family).
  • @ALM2016 Thoughts and prayers for your family!  So sorry you guys are going through this.
  • @mittenlove86 I'm late, but if you have Amazon Prime, Shot Caller is a ridiculously good movie!

  • Went on a hike with my husband and 2 1/2 year old. I wore him in my Tula a majority of the way, I'm wiped! I gained A LOT of weight with my last pregnancy and I'm super duper gun shy this go around. I'm counting calories and am going to stay active. Praying I can keep some semblance of energy.

@littlewhitecottage My kid is 14.5 months so like others...I really don’t think he’ll understand no matter how much or early I tell him! I may try to get the idea into his head with some books and stuff though.

Eta @texas_t ME TOO. Omg yes. I was able to remain pretty active but still put on 50 pounds. I’ve lost all but like, 8, thankfully but never. again. I didn’t step on the scale last time, but when I’m not pregnant I weigh myself every morning to make sure I’m fairly on track. I’m not going to starve myself, but I’m also going to try and keep the 1st tri gain to a minimum. We shall see.

  • @littlewhitecottage My DD is only 2 so she probably won't really get it when we tell her, but her best friend is going to be a big brother in June, so I think we'll tell her then, when she meets the new baby? That might help her understand. With yours being older, it'll be easier, but so he doesn't have to wait so long, maybe mid second tri when you're really showing? Then you explain the bump but he also doesn't have to wait for what must surely feel like forever for a kid (and uh, for pregnant ladies, haha.)

@ALM2016 I'm so sorry. Hoping for the best for you FIL and sending good thoughts to you and your family.

@texas_t Girl, same. I gained 40 pounds last time around and I've only lost 30 of it, so I really, really want to be healthy and fit this time, but I have such a hard time making healthy choices when I don't feel well, so it's going to be a challenge. I forget what day the thread is supposed to be posted, but I'll look and we should definitely start a Fit Mom check in! I would love some support/accountability there.

Btw, any ladies looking for mocktail ideas, I just made a really delicious one just now - plain sparkling water, fresh lime and a generous splash of cranberry juice. It's nice, especially with the warm day we had here. Probably gonna be my go to drink of the summer.
  • We wouldn't really celebrate easter if it wasn't for our families. Both of our families are Catholic, but my husband and I are not, so we're going to dinner at my mom's house. In the future I think it will be more of just a celebration of spring and we'll do the easter bunny. I mean, the easter bunny has nothing to do with the religious concept of easter anyway lol.

@littlewhitecottage Our DS is only going to be just over 2 when this one gets here, so I don't think he'll get it. Luckily I have some friends with small babies that he can get used to being gentle with. For now, he has a baby doll that my SIL got him for xmas and he just swings it around over his head like a wild man. We've got some work to do  :D

We went to BRU last week and there was only 10% off. I waiting for a better sale and was told the percentage would increase this weekend so I've been calling to check. I may stop by Monday to see. Ours was still REALLY well stocked (and surprisingly organized) when we went. I get such anxiety over sales because of sale fomo lol! Also I wish I knew what we're having because if it's a girl I would buy EVERYTHING. @maureenmce I know you're in the same general area as me, so I'll let you know what I find!

@ALM2016 I am so sorry. Sending you and your family lots of healthy thoughts and positive vibes during this time of uncertainty.

@ALM2016 I’m sorry to hear that your FIL is sick. I hope he’s able to have whatever is going on corrected so he can be weaned from the ventilator soon.

@texas_t @maureenmce @PensiveCrayon I almost started the fit mom Friday post last night, but it was a little late. I’ll definitly be up for an accountability thread. I run/treadmill everyday. I wasn’t a “runner”
until a year ago. It helped me get the baby weight off, so I’m hoping I’ll be able to do it throughout this preganancy so I can manage my health during pregnancy a little better this time.
  • Yes, y'all! Fit mom check in would be amazing!!! I need ALL the help I can get!

Yeah, just before I got that positive, I stepped on a scale for the first time in a year; turns out I'm about 30 pounds over my comfortable weight (no wonder all my clothes have felt so tight). Considering that I gained something like 60 lbs with Nugget without trying, I'm not eager to repeat the experience.

Speaking of Nugget, she's not quite 2 so we're not sure what she'll understand, but we keep telling her anyway (we're bad at secrets, so we've already caved and told most of the family). She's got a brand new baby cousin and a teacher who recently went out on maternity leave, so she's sort of familiar with the concept of babies in bellies, at least. My sister visited today and tried to teach her to say "Mommy's an incubator," and my husband keeps trying to get her to say "I'm a sister!" or to introduce herself as "Sister [Nugget]" (we are not Catholic, but his family and her name definitely are). So far no luck.
  • Happy Easter Ladies! We’ve been happily hunting eggs for hours. The kids are now hiding their own and then searching for the ones the oldest had hidden. I’m just enjoying the weather outside.
  • If I was concerned because of lack of MS, I need not to worry about that anymore.

I don’t know where the rest of my post went, but let’s just say DH needed to do the diaper change this morning lol

  • @PensiveCrayon I didn't, but had just decided if I didn't conceive this cycle I was going to jump in the mix there. I actually just changed my name when I joined here. My last name had my full DOB and was just so many numbers for people to remember. It was so unoriginal. I waffled between this and "Tacos4life" as my screen name for far longer than I care to admit :D
