Re: APRIL FET

  • Happy Easter to all! This weekend completely sucked. Had to work till 11 saturday night then missed Easter with my boys because I drove to Jersey at 7 am until 9:30 sunday night to say my goodbyes to my grandma. To make matters worse  - long story short - last year we found out my mothers siblings were stealing  from my grandparents who are alive and then lawyers got involved. No longer have any relationships with my family members except my uncle who had gotten an attorney with my mother and who takes care of my grandparents. My horrible aunts told my grandmother to come lay down at their home after lunch but instead took her to a lawyers office and signed over her estate without telling her. Then took her to a doctor to write her off as not being mentally sound mind. Well my grandmother's doctors called social services and kicked them out since my grandmother is all mentally there. I lost a best friend my cousin so it was a rough year. So saying goodbye yesterday and having to see people I haven't seen in a year with zero ack was not a fun day. And now we wait. So I had three cups of coffee yesterday and the stress..well god knows im sucking. Praying that in between all this shit I will be able to make it through this cycle in a positive way and not ruin my chances. Sorry..negative nancy post today. Just feeling majorly blah. I'm sure the estrace isn't helping either. Headaches like crazy.

  • @mcgeeva I'm so sorry to hear about your grandma!!! :( Hate you're having to deal with such family members. My best friend had the same thing happen to her a few years ago. Her one aunt, who had nothing at all to do with her grandparents, took over and sold all their stuff right away when they passed. My girlfriend was living with her grandparents being a caregiver and this one aunt lived out of state and never called or visited until it was time to get her $$. So sad, but at least you see their true colors and know to stay far away!! Hope you get to feeling better!! <3

  • @@kristimh80 thanks. Yep it's a lot like that. My uncle takes care of my grandparents and the sisters who can't hold a job got check books and their check cards and where using it. Booked a 15 k beach house for themselves when our fam hasn't ever taken trips together. So I know it will get dirtier when my grandmother passes. Exactly why I avoided north the past year and now I feel awful for being away selfishly but last summer when it all happened I had the two miscarriages and I couldn't handle the stress anymore. Sunk into depression and had to go talk to someone. So outside of a funeral I will not go back up north unless to see my grandpa not that he knows me anymore :/

  • Also guys I’m pretty sure I forgot To take my estradriol twice yesterday   :/ hope I didn’t screw this up
  • ndz2018  knowing me I would double up on the pills today :) Not sure if that is okay lol.

    shae44 aw good! I had a cycst last week too but no clue if it's gone. We started anywho so hoping that doesn't cause issues down the road if it hangs out for a while. Your two days after me! Two weeks will be here before you know it!

    Ah! So much going on!

    @mcgeeva So sorry that happened to you. Something similar happened in my husbands family. His aunt who was in charge of his grandmas medical and finances used her credit cards to remodel her kitchen! Then refused to put her in hospice when things took a turn for the worst. Needless to say my husband doesn’t speak to her unless forced to at large family gatherings.

    @kristimh80 GL tomorrow!!

    @shae44 you are one day behind me!  It’s coming so fast.

    AFM, I started my estrogen shots on Saturday. The oil is way thicker than my PIO shot but the dose is tiny, thank God.
  • @ndz2018 Like @mcgeeva said...I'd probably just double dose it today! I'm sure you're good!

    @shae44  So good to here it didn't knock you back very long!

    @J1006 Where do you have to inject your estrogen shots? I saw today I have a lovely bruise now from my PIO and already thinking I need to look for new locations soon and will be looking like a spotted dalmatian lol

  • J1006  yep I have realized in life we have to constantly weed out toxic people in our lives. People are truly gross. Hardest part is believing that people really are that evil.

    @kristimh80. I inject into the same spot at my PIOs. Eventually I will be doing two PIOs (am and pm) and then an estrogen shot two times a week, so two days I will have three intramuscular shots  :/   I’m pretty sure I will just have two giant bruises on my back eventually haha.
  • @J1006 Oh my goodness!!! Silver lining...you only have to do estrogen twice a week! :) I'm starting to think I'd much rather be doing shots than anything else anymore. Granted...estrace isn't bad at all...just having to take 3 x day is annoying lol

  • @ndz2018  I’ve actually started to feel a little anxious :(. Like weird tightness in my chest and throat that I haven’t had before.  Went to yoga yesterday and trying deep breathing, but doesn’t seem to be helping :(. Because my transfer’s so late in the day (12:30pm - we don’t have to be there till 11:30 for acu), we’re planning on taking the dog to brunch with us in the morning before since we’re taking the day off anyway.

    @mcgeeva *HUGS*. I’m so sorry you’re going through all that.  It’s awful how crazy family can get over money stuff :(. Hang in there.

    Started the Endometrin today - figured I had like 120 tablets on hand (got ‘em last year when I had zero copay) so I may as well use ‘em - and they’ll last longer (fx I’ll continue to need them!) since I’m only using them 2x instead of 4x a day like last time.

  • @mcgeeva so sorry you have to deal with this family stress!

    @ndz2018 I feel the same way.  I just got in the mail a pregnancy announcement from my cousin.  While I am happy for her, I can’t help but feel down on myself.  Then I start thinking what is wrong with me?  Why can’t I just be happy and not let any other feelings creep in there.  I also forgot part of my medication.  I took off my estrogen patch on Saturday and forgot to put a new one on.  I went most of the day before I had a chance to put a new one on when I finally remembered.

    @kristimh80  I can’t believe your transfer day is just about here!  Good luck, and fx for a sticky embaby!

    AFM, next appointment is 6:30 a.m. Wednesday.  Not looking forward to waking up that early on spring break!  Then I start the PIO shots on Thursday.  Not looking forward to that either.
  • @mcgeeva Ugh, I'm so sorry you're having to deal with all of that. Elder abuse makes me SO angry. What an awful situation. My naturopath has me on melatonin because it's been shown to increase endometrial receptivity. I have other supplements I have to stop post-transfee but the melatonin she told me I could take throughout.

    @shae44 Glad your cysts resolved!

    @ndz2018 I forgot my Estrace a couple of times too. My nurses weren't too concerned and I just carried on with my usual dose.

    @artemis618 I've been having bad anxiety too. I feel like my heart is fluttering and I'm short of breath and dizzy. I keep asking DH if I'm having a heart attack and he just looks at me and spells out "A-N-X-I-E-T-Y" lol!!! I'm usually a mentally strong person but, man, this process can really break you. I had the day off work today and went to the museum in the city. DH thought it would be good to get my mind off things. So far,  I've had a less anxious day.

  • OK,  so I need to take a poll. Here's the back story:

    I was supposed to be on a Lupron suppression cycle but after a bad reaction,  I stopped the injects after 2 days.  I tried to continue with a natural FET instead this cycle,  but the nurses said I couldn't because my doctor was on vacation and couldn't approve the change in protocol. My RE is back from vacation tomorrow.  I called the nursing line today to ask to go in for u/s and blood work tomorrow morning because by some miracle,  I haven't O'd yet (it's CD 15 today) but my OPK will prob be + tomorrow. The nurses never called me back and now the office is closed.

    Should I just show up there tomorrow morning and ask for monitoring? If I don't,  it will be too late and I'll miss my chance at a transfer this month. There's a strong possibility that they'll turn me away and label me as crazy. I don't have a doctor approved req for blood work or u/s. I don't know what time my RE starts in the morning - it's possible they can ask her to OK it if she's there.

    WWYD? Go in without approval, or just resign yourself to the fact that there won't be a transfer this cycle?

    (Sorry that was so long)

  • Hey everyone!
    Preparing for my first FET scheduled for 4/20! Started estrogen patches yesterday, as well as Estradiol suppositories (can’t figure out a great way to get those in yet lol!)
    Anyone in the Chicago area?
    we have 5 frozen embryos, but didn’t do PGS so I’m really not sure if any of them are ‘normal’ but they’re all graded AA. Fingers crossed!

    @artemis618 I'm sorry you're feeling so uneasy.. I feel you on that! Hoping your transfer day goes smoothly and relaxing!

    @tosh24 Ok... since you gave the nurse a sorta “heads up” i’d Say Go for it! And if anyone asks  you can be like “ Well I called my nurse yesterday to let her know i was coming in” . Idk how your morning monitoring is but mine I walk in, give them my name and they call me to the back. I also have different locations  I go To but the same clinic. One is near My shore house and the other nearby the place we have up north closer to the city(NYC) I never call ahead I just Show up at which ever one im closer to.  So I say You can probably pull it off if they aren’t strict? And if they label you as crazy so what? They’ll just think you’re another hormonal woman on a rampage I’m sure they’re used to it lol

    @SharBear06 Welcome to the April FET club lol!! You’re with a great group of girls here!!! I have no advice on the Estradriol inserting technique mine are oral lol GL with that!

    @laurengon82 Are you doing your PIO in the morning or at night? I have morning monitoring tomorrow morning. And guess my PIO start on Thur too!!

    @kristimh80 AHHHH ITS ALMOST TOMORROW! I’m so excited for you!! Same question do you do your PIO in the morning or night?

    @mcgeeva I wouldn’t see the harm in melatonin before transfer... shoot I had 3 martinis last night and I’m not worried one bit!
  • @SharBear06 Welcome!  I am also in the Chicago area.  I’m in NWI, just about 20 minutes outside of Chicago.

    @tosh24 Show up tomorrow! Who cares! My office opens at 7:30, so guess you could try one last time to call before going over as well. Maybe you'll get lucky and they'll answer and be able to squeeze you in.

    @ndz2018 I take PIO i the morning. I like to get it out of the way but at the same time in my crazy mind I've convinced myself that a few extra hours of PIO can be a big difference. I think because I've seen people that have done ERA and they found they needed a few extra hours of PIO to be receptive.

    @SharBear06 Welcome to the April party!!

  • @ndz2018 the nurse at my RE’s office told me morning when I did the fresh transfer in January.  I’m assuming it will be the same this time.  I’ll ask to make sure on Wednesday.
  • @mcgeeva If you’re doing a natural cycle and need to ovulate definitely don’t take melatonin as it can delay/prevent it.  Otherwise yes, talk to your nurses/RE.

    @tosh24 Glad your day off’s been less anxious.  That’s interesting about melatonin helping receptivity.  I could probably use some at the moment to help me sleep (I’ve generally only taken it during stim cycles).  Actually, I have enough Valium that I could take half of one for the next few nights to help me sleep :p. Well, for natural cycle that sounds about perfect.  The first part of my protocol (aside from calling on CD1) was to call when I got a +opk.  That’s really annoying that it sounds like the docs don’t really back each other up there though?

    @ndz2018 It’s just so much harder after how the last one went.  Of course I don’t even know if we’ll get that far, but really hoping we do and that the third pregnancy will be the charm!

    @kristimh80  Happy transfer day eve!

  • @mcgeeva I am so sorry you have to go through this family drama at a time like this....I have my own family drama and feel for you...but now that your grandma is in a better place now and safe from them...you just take care of yourself now, everything else will work out okn it's own.
     @Tosha24., I would probably stand at the door and demand a test! I demanded progesterone today or too be tested (although it was via phone) and got suppositories (so not looking forward to them) you won't get whatg you want unless you try...beside it will be a great story when youu do get preggo!
    @artemis618 thanks for the encouragement. I asked for the progesterone and now have it...if nothing else it gives me A little peace of mind.
    @kristimh80 good luck tomorrow. Fx for a sticky embryo.
  • tosh24 I Would go in. They are in this profession and know putting off another month is torture if there is a chance you could still get in just in time. Sucks there isn't someone else that can take over when you doc is out.

    ndz2018  girl throw back some martinis! Love it. I'm sipping on some real nasty espresso vodka my brother gave me for my birthday. Clearly im desperate to check out lol.

    I feel like hopefully anything while im on my period is okay. Once it's over then I will worry about building up that lining and being super good.

    artemis618  okay you just blew my mind. I had no clue what an actual natural cycle is but if I am someone that never ovulates how is the hell does this stuff work?? Since I don't normally do I trigger before FET? Shit now im all concerned im missing something.

    @SharBear06 Welcome!

    @smittenkitten_aka_knottie821 the only crappy thing is my grandfather is still alive. And what they are after is their money. He isn't mentally of sound mind so last year when grandma broke her hip they all stopped seeing him because they couldn't get anything from him. So I think until they are both passed it will be a lot of sadness and a lot of fighting when people find out later on that those stealing are responsible for the 100K legal fees they cost my grandparents so that will come from what they get. Wish money would all go to charity so people would have nothing to fight about. I'm one of 15 grandkids and money doesn't mean crap to me if you didn't work for it. So just sad. Grandpa doesn't even know she isn't coming home. He tried to bring her food back from dinner last night in case she was hungry. :(

    @smittenkitten_aka_knottie821 Glad you got the progesterone.  Peace of mind is valuable — as much as I hate the Endometrin, it would be silly to *TW* lose a pregnancy to something as easily addressed as progesterone deficiency.

    @mcgeeva Sorry for any confusion - if you don’t ovulate on your own, then you would not be a candidate for a natural cycle FET.  I just remember my first RE told me to lay off of the melatonin between luteal lupron cycles last year when I had to wait to ovulate to start lupron.  With a normal medicated cycle Estrace or other estradiol keeps you from ovulating, so it’s not an issue.  Your faux ovulation day is then the first day that you start progesterone (which, if you’d ovulated, your corpus luteum would have started producing to get your endometrium ready for baby).  Does that make sense?  So it sounds like you should be fine to take melatonin - but wouldn’t hurt to run it by your RE’s office.

  • Whoa, I'm having a hard time keeping up. Just added myself to the tracking sheet though. @kristimh80 - thanks for the signature link ;)

    CD1 arrived and I have started medicating for the cycle. Looks like I'll be transferring either 4/19 or 4/20 - CD1 was a little earlier than I expected. I'm hoping to get my ERA results next week, so they'll adjust my progesterone/schedule as needed.

    In other news, now that the cycle has started, I'm suddenly terrified it will fail again. I went from feeling totally numb to more numb from fear.... I keep thinking things like: "Has my period been heavy enough? Have I bled enough? Is my lining going to be good enough?" which makes me think I should just transfer the one embryo, rather than the 2 to just get this over with.

    Ugh, terrifying. FETs are terrifying.

    @kristimh80 - good luck tomorrow!!!

    @tosh24 - Go with your gut. Good luck.

    @artemis618 - you're getting so close to transfer!! Exciting!

    @mcgeeva - how lame! We were just talking about that this weekend - how if you start thinking you deserve more than someone else in a will, you've basically failed as a human being. We know a few people who are involved in estate disputes right now, and it's really sad. It's always people who can't hold a job who are like: "No, I should inherit it all!! All of it!!!" Ugh.

    @J1006 - OMG, a kitchen remodel with stolen money? That is LOW!

    @shae44 - glad you are back on the wagon!

    @ndz2018 - I hear you. This past week, I've dealt with three pregnancy announcements. It blows. One of the couples struggled a bit - not an IVF struggle or IVF struggle or anything, but they were trying for about a year - and someone said: "they're so happy they're finally pregnant", and it felt like a punch to the gut. Another of the couples made a comment on social media like: "We're so glad we can finally share this!" after waiting for the 12 weeks or whatever, and I was like: "COME ON". * eyeroll *

    Apologies if I am missing anyone. As mentioned, I'm having a hard time keeping up!
  • @ndz2018 I know how you feel - I was around with my bro & SIL over the weekend who just had their 3rd baby a few weeks ago. It's hard to know how to feel - obviously I'm delighted for them, while being a little sad for myself. Plus their house looks like a tornado hit it and everyone so often they ask "Who Pooo-ed???" So yeah myself and DH came home and drank quite a bit of wine - while we can <3
    @kristimh80 Oooo - transfer day - Yay!!! Best of luck <3<3<3

    Happy transfer day @kristimh80!!

    @tosh24 I would also just go in. I would tell them you didn’t hear back and didn’t want to miss an appointment. Maybe they will fit you in. Can’t hurt right?

  • @kristimh80 thank you!
    @tosh24 I would go in! Of course I understand that REs need to take vacations, but in this line of work I think they should expect drop ins and changes and people needing their attention ASAP when they get back. Even my line of work, which is not as important as health care in the slightest, any vacation I take results in some madness when I get back.

    OMG y'all... ive read the whole thread, but will catch up based on the last page :):)
    @mcgeeva I hate family stuff like that... I think its a rare family something like this doesn't happen in...my family it certainly has...but at least they had the good sense to squabble over peanuts AFTER my grandmother died. You will definitely get through this cycle... just think, you will be putting your baby back inside you soon!!
    kristimh80 Let us know how everything goes!!!
    artemis618  I used endometrin last time too... they definitely worked.. I was I suppository three times a day. But you probably shouldn't need much.
    laurengon82 Its amazing how many of this group are practically at transfer!! Let us know how you appointment goes on Wednesday!
    tosh24  yes! so much anxiety! Hope we can all do things to reduce it this cycle... I'm planning on acupuncture and meditation. Did you end up going for monitoring?
    SharBear06 Congrats! Sounds like you have some awesome embies! Welcome aboard!
    funkykey OMG... I'm CD 2 as well!! Just had my baseline today! :) We should transfer around the same time!

    AFM... I'm CD 2 and just had my baseline.... She said everything looks good, but they will get back to me this afternoon with my instructions and new calendar for the rest of the cycle. My next appointment is 4/13 and I should find out then when I start progesterone.
