What birth control is best after baby

Hi Ladies I am 36 weeks pregnant. I have always wanted to have my first two about 18 months apart. Once the baby is born should I get on birth control or just use condoms? Any ideas? I am afraid birth control may mess up my cycle and I want to breast feed as well not sure I want my baby getting that in their system.

  • I used a copper IUD that is non hormonal, everyone is different but it did make my cramps worse than what they were before, but I still liked it. I only had to have it removed because I was getting an MRI. I believe it works for 10 years. Not really sure about anything else but the pill.

  • I had Nexplanon, boy did it make me crazy... I won’t recommend it to anyone ! Its supposed to prevent you from getting pregnant for 3 Years unless you take it out early like me . The good thing is the month I had it removed is the same month I got pregnant... because I know some birth controls even after removal some ladies still have a hard time getting preggo. Before using Nexplanon I tried the IUD twice but it fell out both times after intercourse, I would go to the bathroom afterwards and feel the string all the way out so I’ll just pull it out lol. IUD didn’t work for me at all.

before DS i was on the pill for almost 10 years (treat endo). My cycles remained normal after coming off it and took less than 6 months to get pregnant. After DS was born i didn’t get my period until after i stopped breastfeeding but i don’t recall taking anything for BC until then. I wasn’t reacting to the pill well with my endo so i tried the iud (kyleena). My body still wasn’t acting right after 7 months. I got it removed and my periods got screwed up and I’m pretty sure it was from the iud. *TW Got pregnant two months later but also had another surgery and had a huge scare of possible loss because i was measuring behind (thanks to me newly changed cycle length).* I will never do the iud again.
Also it’s a myth that you can’t get pregnant while breastfeeding. It happened to my mom and a few friends. Stick to condoms if you can. I think there is a mini pill you can take while BFing.
