I was recently diagnosed with low T3. I was put on Armour Thryoid and I just had my levels retested yesterday. My blood work came in and, with help of the medication, all my levels are in normal range. Does anyone have any experience with thyroid issues? especially during pregnancy? I have an appointment with my PCP today to go over results, but I haven't seen her since I've found out I was pregnant, so I'm just curious!

Re: Thyroid Issues
With those of us with hashimoto's, there can be more fluctuation (and I also had postpartum thyroiditis after my daughter was born, which has caused long term issues) and I'll have to be tested pretty often, like every 3-4 weeks throughout. But really, all it is is blood tests and, if needed, medication adjustment, so it shouldn't be too scary! Try not to worry about it!

i was hyper for many years and turned hypo after my first pregnancy. Things to keep in mind is that your body and baby will require a higher level during first tri but you catch a small break with second and third tri since baby is already making its own. So they more than likely test you more often early on. My dosage increased from 25 to 125 during pregnancy and then back down postpartum. If you are suspected to have Graves’ disease (like me) they may also test you during second tri to check antibodies. If positive they would have to test baby after birth. I have been tested almost every month since 10 wks and I’ll only be tested once between 20 wks and delivery. Blood work is annoying but thyroid issues can usually be managed pretty well during pregnancy. Best of luck!

Just wanted to second what @wildtot said. I have thyroid issues also that were diagnosed after the birth of my son and so far everything has been just fine with this pregnancy. I have had to have it checked regularly (so far once a trimester has worked for me since things have been good) and I have continued taking the medication I was on pre pregnancy (Synthroid). Good luck!

Hey girls
I used to have normal hormone levels but in my first blood work during pregnancy (at 4 weeks) my TSH was a bit elevated (T4 normal). My OB prescribed a small dose of Synthoid but I was concerned (first time mom, hehe) and decided to look for an endocrinologist. He had a look at my exams and said I probably have nothing to worry, but asked me some extra tests, just to make sure. He said that even if I need to take the drug during pregnancy, it’s super safe for the baby. And he also said that it I feel the urge to google, I should always look for information at the American Thyroid Association website cause it’s a reliable source

@texas_t Yay for endo referral!
2 months ago TSH was at 1.56 and at just 4 1/2 weeks, it jumped to 6.0. We increased my Synthroid to help support the demand on my thyroid.
In that time, I gained 5 pounds and found myself air thirsty. Just in case, that helps you decide. Test early, test often. Your thyroid controls so many hormones.
The medication is already helping. ♡
