*TW* FET after loss (children and loss mentioned)

learned today that my little nugget stopped growing at 6 weeks. This is my second FET, (first FET resulted in my twin daughters) What was your turn around like regarding moving forward with treatments after D&C ?

Thank you, I am so sorry that any of us have any experience with this.

Re: *TW* FET after loss (children and loss mentioned)

  • I am very sorry for your loss. I found out on October 18th last year that my baby girl stopped growing 2 weeks prior to that ultrasound. I was supposed to be 10 weeks and 5 days but baby stopped growing around 8 weeks and some change. We did the D&C the next day and had genetic testing done (because I didn't do PGS before FET), which is how I found out she was a girl and the reason she stopped growing was she had trisomy 9.
Dr said we could try again mid December (started BCP Dec 10th to get AF and start stimming after). We would have been preparing for a early February FET but we only ended up with one embryo at day 5 and didn't feel comfortable sending one off for PGS so we are getting ready to stim again to add more.

When I was told we needed the D&C I immediately went into research mode to find out how long I would have to wait before trying again. Most Drs will say either 1-3 cycles before being cleared to try again or at least that is about average of what I read/found online.

I hope you are able to recover quickly physically from your procedure. Again I am sorry you have to go through this. Are you getting genetic testing done to see if it was a genetic issue that caused the baby to stop growing?

  • I am sorry that you had to go through this and I am sorry that you are digging it all up to help me. Thank you. My fertility doc made it sound like the testing would be a part of the D and C so yes we will get it tested.  We are getting the D and C from my OBGyn, so keep costs down so hopefully they would do the testing too. It makes me so sad to think of one of my little ones with an issue like that. but yes it would be good to know.

Don't know if I want to wait the 4 months my doc suggested before another transfer, or if I will work on just trying naturally. Trying naturally is not my strong suit, and obviously from my presence here has not yielded great results.

I am sure we all feel this way, but I have been really struggling with the why today. Why did my infertility story need another chapter? Why does any of our stories need new chapters?

Again thank you so much for sharing. Best of luck with your next stim cycle.

  • It's not as hard as as I thought it would be to bring it up. Honestly it made sound unfeeling but when I was told why she stopped growing I was relieved. Knowing there was an answer helped. I hope you get definitive answers and it brings you some peace like it did for me.

To be perfectly honest recently after they found a cyst (yet another reason for a delay) I was in a bad place, feeling like the universe doesn't want me to have another baby. Because we have had so many hurdles and bumps in the road that I felt like it just wasn't going to happen. But I am over that feeling (probably stupid hormones going crazy). We all probably have those feelings from time to time, so I hope we all get good news soon.

I know you may not want to wait the full 4 months but please at least try to wait 2. I would hate for you to get that positive and have it end it disaster because your uterus wasn't quite ready. The 2 months is fairly average for all that I have seen from doctors telling people whether they got pregnant from IVF or naturally.

  • That doesn't sound unfeeling at all. I was very sad the day we got the news but I have actually realized that this is one time my body did what it was supposed to. It identified a problem. That might be unfeeling, but it feels different then all the other times my body gave me hurdles.

I actually started miscarrying naturally last Thursday and by the time I got to the doctor, the DnC wasn't an option which I am ok with. I took the cytotec pills to help with contractions and it was actually pretty easy. I am still bleeding a lot though so that's really annoying I am very over this episode mentally and emotionally, so I would love if my body would let me move on physically too.

My Obgyn said as long as I have a period I could try, but my acupuncturist said wait the two months and then of course my RE said 4.

I am just ready to move on and be done. I am not good at sitting still.

Praying for all your next steps. Thanks again for sharing.
