1st Trimester

Bloating

Hi ladies,

Im about 6 weeks pregnant, and I can barely zip up my skinny jeans. Since my uterus is still tucked away behind my pubic bone, I can only imagine this is bloat? What the HOLY HELL. Seriously, is this normal? And does it go away? I mean before I officially start showing? Please tell me yes. My diet is mostly plant based, so obviously a lot of carbs. But it doesn’t usually cause me to bloat, so I imagine it’s just the pregnancy hormones. Can anyone give me any ideas on how to deal with it? I don’t want to wear yoga pants this early :(

Re: Bloating

  • With my first, I struggled with constipation, which caused a lot of bloating. Could that be part of it?

  • Yes bloating is normal and usually settles down around second tri.

Bloating is 100% normal, and will start to go away just in time for your actual baby bump to start taking up that space.

If you can't zip/button your jeans, you can always try using a hair tie or paper clip to hold them closed, and just wear a shirt that covers the zipper.

  • @izza2 that’s exactly what I was afraid of. So basically I won’t be buttoning my pants at all anymore, huh? LOL

    Oh, the joys.
  • Normal. I didn't bloat much with my first pregnancy, but I did this time. I couldn't zip my jeans past 6 weeks and have been in maternity jeans since week 7-8. Not everyone likes Belly Bands, but with my first pregnancy they were great for holding up my pants and concealing the fact that they were unbuttoned and sometimes unzipped. They sell them at Target for pretty cheap if you want to check them out.
